Vice President Dick Cheney joined Tim Russert for the hour on this morning’s edition of Meet the Press. This was the first time Cheney appeared on the show in over three years. Clip includes Cheney talking about the Taliban in Afghanistan, regimes, the War on Terror, and of course five years of thwarting terrorist attacks on US soil.

Greg at The Political Pit Bull put together some highlights of the show as well.

Watch the entire show here.

Full transcript here.

Update (9/11 2:27AM): Dave Pierre at Newsbusters has more.

We are fortunate to have Dick Cheney in this administration at this time.

RobCon on September 10, 2006 at 2:41 PM

I watched it on NBC, Tim kept asking the questions reworded, the V.P. kept answering, reworded. Finally Cheney says “What part of this don’t you understand?” Good work Mr. Cheney!

Then I put on CNN and watch the same thing happen between Wolf Blitzer and Condi. Same script by the lefty media. Blitzer says “Well, N. Korea, Cuba, Iran and Syria are terrorist sponsors too, we didn’t invade THEM.” Their arguements are so lame. I wanted Condi to say “No, not YET.” Imagine Wolf’s reaction to that!

Today’s shows – giants versus little people, or dwarfs, or the size-challenged, or the IQ-challenged, or whatever tickles our PC fancy…

Entelechy on September 10, 2006 at 2:52 PM

Amen, normsrevenge.

“President Dick Cheney”

Try that one on, moonbats.

ChelleFiche on September 10, 2006 at 2:54 PM

All Tim does is recite biased polls as if they made a hill of beans of difference in the real world. I see Tim continues to ask people questions about the Plame case without mentioning his role in it. I can’t take him seriously, at all.
Cheney is awesome. Liked the line about Tim not being in season at the end of the show.

The man has strong convivtions as a VP. We need that in the world we live in. Imagine the oposite?

flyboy777 on September 10, 2006 at 3:35 PM

He made the case that the left and media don’t understand…

IE… Al Quaida is NOT the entire terror network, and 9/11 is NOT the entire reason for the WOT.

Just because Sadaam was not in league with Al Q, does not mean he was not helping other terror networks… and he would have given THEM the WMD we were worried about.

This is the connection that the Administration is finally trying to get through to the media, and the public… and its about time…

This is the connection that the Administration is finally trying to get through to the media, and the public… and its about time…

It’s about 3 years late. They’ve taken a bunker mentality about PR, and they’ve let their opposition frame the debate.

I think this is the influence of Tony Snow we’re seeing, and thank God they’ve finally got him in there. This administration has done an awful job of explaining what we’re doing, and that’s even considering the constraints of things they can’t say such as “Did you notice how we have Iran surrounded?”.

It’s nice to finally see them out there making their case and taking on their detractors.

The best part of that interview about 1/3 of the way through when Tim started to question him about not being able to carry toothpaste on planes and how the administration tried to cut 6 million dollars from the budget, but was unable to continue.

Dick merely said,”Tim, we have spent billions…”, raised his pimp-slappin’ hand in warning, and no more was heard from Tim.

Heck, Democrats are always accusing us of being ReTHUGlicans. We might as well embrace it and make it ours.

Like so….

“Yo Yo Yo Yo! MC Chen Dawg is in d House! Way to represent da R-N-C clan! A word out to d sucka’s out there who refuse to recognize. I’m a gonna break it down 4 you ’bout how Chen Dawg rolls

Here’s a RNC gangsta short in size.
Armani power suit is his only disguise
Built like a tank, but hard to hit,
MC Chen Dawg’s cold wreckin’ sh*t!

(Interlude)

Yo, MC Mutha-f***in’ Chen Dawg, why don’t you tell these sucka’s what time it is?

(MC Chen Dawg)

Straight outta D.C., crazy motherf**ker named Chen Dawg
From the gang called Rethuglicans With Attitudes
When I’m called off, I got a sawed off
Squeeze the trigger, and bodies are hauled off
You too, Tim, if ya f**k with me
The capital police are gonna hafta come and get me
Off yo ass, that’s how I’m goin out
For the punk dhimmicrats that’s showin out
Pundits start to mumble, they wanna rumble
Mix em and cook em in a pot like gumbo

(interlude)

Here’s a little somethin’ bout a Re-Thug like me
never shoulda been let out the penititary
Gangstar Bush would like ta say
That I’m a crazy mutha f**ka from around the way
Shootin’ a lawyer or two
that’s what the hell I do, you don’t like how I’m livin
well f**k you!
This is a gang, and I’m in it
My man Rummy’ll f**k you up in a minute
With a right left, right left you’re toothless
And then you say goddamn they ruthless!”

(End of rap)

No no, don’t bother to thank me. Thank VP Cheney for making this homage possible. Seriously Cheney, that response of yours in your interview seriously rocked.

(If this won’t get me banned from commenting, nothing will… ;-) )

EFG on September 10, 2006 at 4:06 PM

eh, forgot to mention that I ripped of NWA shamelessly to construct that.

EFG on September 10, 2006 at 4:09 PM

Islam would soil its foul smelling robes if VP Cheney were elected president. I would vote for him, and often.

Russert, on the other hand, is such an MSNBC hack. Outclassed by our Vice President, and at one point biotch slapped very nicely.

Hening on September 10, 2006 at 4:20 PM

Russert continues to prove that, like Matthews, he’s a liberal partisan Democratic a$$hole.

In my opinion, Cheney did an excellent job in dealing with Russert’s use of the “traditional” liberal tactic of repeated interruptions. And I believe he got his message out despite Russert’s self-righteous, prosecutorial tone.

Thanks for the links to the video and the transcripts. I don’t watch either Russert or Matthews any more. I have better things to do that watch them.

georgej on September 10, 2006 at 4:27 PM

The poor Progressofascists will be worked to the bone now. They continue to fight the ABC docudrama, fight the Presidents speeches, fight the Armitage story, and now have Cheney to fight.

Terrorism to liberals is the Bush/Cheney/Haliburton/Rove/Libby/Rumsfeld/Fox News/ABC/Disney Diety, aka Satan by them, due to their having such a difficult time dealing with the facts found in the real World. Facts, and relevancy scares them to death, thus they would ignore any real threat to their lives in the hopes that their Godless religion would keep them safe. My personal hope is that the law of natural selection doesn’t kick in as that would be disaserous to them [and America] in this day and age.

Great stuff.

“The man has strong convivtions as a VP. We need that in the world we live in. Imagine the oposite?”

the oposite would be Al Gore I do believe

EEprom on September 10, 2006 at 6:46 PM

Tim is a puppet of the polls. I listened to the interview and thought it comical as Tim continued to quote the polls as if the polls demonstrated complete knowledge of the subject.

Tim’s time has passed and he needs to move on to something else. He has indeed made the show “Meet The Depressed”

Wade on September 10, 2006 at 7:46 PM

Well, you know we can’t forget it was old Timmy boy who called the FL election for Bore in 2000. He should have been out then but he writes some book about his dad and everyone loves him again. However, I did watch it this morning just because I knew Dick was going to be on and it would be worth getting up early for that. Also, did anyone catch that sorry excuse for a human scream howie on Fox News Sunday. He said he wouldn’t apologize for his big mouthed antics in regards to that plamegate. How these people can look at themselves in the mirror every morning is beyond me.

Catie96706 on September 10, 2006 at 7:56 PM

al-Qaeda cells hiding inside the US with nukes and bioweapons – what part of this doesn’t the Left understand? Or maybe their refusal to do anything about it is more thought-out than they’ll admit?

Thanks brother.

You too.

EFG on September 11, 2006 at 2:14 AM

I particularly liked the part where Cheney tut-tuts people who have been deliberately confusing Iraq with the WOT. Talk about chutzpah. I was hoping Tim would ask him if we are in the last throes, the penultimate throes, the kinda in the middle throes….First time I’ve seen Dick admit how wrong he was on the insurgency; he seems in denial about the Taliban retaking Afghanistan.

I have gotten to the point of pitying him–imagine the mental gymnastics it takes to keep seeing yourself as the hero when you are clearly the goat.
