Was that there the whole time? Must have missed it. Anyway, yep, that’s definitely the smoking gun! Until I saw that, this seemed to be much ado about nothing. Forget the Chicago Tribune link, that doesn’t have any incriminating evidence or statements.

Use as much water as possible.

Bring water to boil. Add one can extra light extract and 2 pounds extra light dry malt extract and 1 oz Pearl hops. boil for 1 hour.

10 minutes before the end of boil add one-half ounce Mount Hood hops.

Turn off heat, add 1/2 ounce Mount Hood hops and steep with lid on for 15 minutes.

Give pot an ice bath.
Strain into the fermenter and add cold water and top off to 5 gal. Add yeast when cool Put in a place 68 to 72 degrees. Ferment to completion seven to ten days.

Bottle with three-quarters of a cup corn sugar dissolved in one cup of water added to the entire batch.

BEER should be carbonated in one week but will improve with 2 to three weeks aging.
