Dems’ no-confidence resolution fizzles in Senate

It had no hope of passing, but as a political stunt, you could do worse than this. Rumsfeld’s fast approaching political kryptonite status; forcing Senate Republicans to line up behind him is a surprisingly shrewd move from a party as inept as the Democrats.
They’re used to moral victories. Here’s one more for the pile:
Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, the floor manager of the bill, rose to Rumsfeld’s defense and promised to kill the Democratic resolution on a point of order.
“This man deserves the support of the Senate, does not deserve the opposition I’m sad to say … on a purely political basis,” Stevens said.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., repeatedly supported Rumsfeld as he made the rounds of news shows Wednesday morning.
“The American people want us to be safe and secure. They recognize it takes bold leadership,” Frist said on NBC’s “Today” show. “I strongly support Don Rumsfeld.”
The GOP blocking tactics would prevent politically imperiled Republicans from having to vote to support the way President Bush and Rumsfeld have handled the war, which is increasingly unpopular with the public.
You know what would really send a strong message of opposition?
C’mon, Nancy. You know you want to.
Tough break for the Labour government, though. They lost all their most attractive MPs.
Speaking of which, Blair says he plans to meet with Siniora next Monday in Beirut. Hasn’t he heard? The real government doesn’t want him there.

Aww, low blow at that…less-than-photogenic Labor fellow.

Don’t these Dems know? Only He-Man and the Masters of the Universe can stop Skeletor!

AS WELL IT SHOULD. Not only was it a lame political stunt, it would have been just plain stupid if it had the power of law.
I’d put on a uniform and go back to work for him in a nanosecond if my knees and back were up to it.

I always thought Rumsfeld was cool because he put the press corps in its place.
But my husband is a soldier, very closely involved with the DOD, and thinks it is time for Rummy to go.
BlueStateBlues on September 6, 2006 at 7:55 PM
It should be noted that this was a waste of our tax dollars.
And I want my money back…
I think Rummy has done a good job given the times we are in.
What do the dems have as a solution? Anything… anything…
Buler, Feris Buler… Buler….

Mr. Bush’s big chance – how could he have missed it so far? Democrats will up his poll numbers, if only Rummy gets ‘tossed’; but remember, he’s not driven by polls…and we should be glad…

Allah, you somehow mislinked Page3. It’s in the sidebar, though.

“As a result of his and others actions, the nation was rushed to war based on a faulty case.” Dingy Harry.
Same gaga as “Valarie Plame was outed.” Bush lied. Rove Lied. Cheney Lied. They all Lied. Culture of Corruption.
Yada, Ya-da, Yaaaaa daaaaaaaaaaaa.
Lets move THIS Senator to the head of the class:
“If my Democrat colleagues spent half the time helping us fight this war on terror as they do attacking the administration, we’d be a lot closer to winning this war,” said Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C. “They are united in the idea of retreat and defeatism.”
HooHa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sen. DeMint. Way To Go!!!!

Wow!…… South Carolina is calling me back home – Finally somebody worth voting for.
If more conservatives would just take the kid gloves off and tell the truth like Jim DeMint just did, we’d have no worries about ‘06.

Continued minimal coverage by the MSM. All I see is anything the Rep do is political but the Dems…well thats OK…

The United States will be holding auditions for a “Party of the Opposition” slot which will soon becoming open.
Libertarians only need apply. No Green Party. Bring references.

The liberal recipee for success: Attack Rove, then attack Bush, then attack Cheney, then attack Rumsfeld. Repeat as necessary. Do not offer any new ideas as 1)Democrats have none 2)That would confuse the base 3)It would confuse elected democrats
