...as to that last note about the rape laws-
In all Islamic states- a woman's testimony is only given half the weight of a man's.
A man's testimony in court is twice as strong because Islam says she is a possession of the man, on whom he has expended resources. Just like raising cattle.

Hello...? [echo] Anyone...? Code Pink...? N.O.W... Anybody?

I"ll bet there are thousands of womens' "empowerment" groups fighting America's oppressive system. Not one
voice (of any volume) for the truly oppressed of the world.

...always ragging-on about money for "Books - not Bombs"
howsabouts lots of money for Books - not redundant, grant-seeking, coalitions of organizations that ends up looking like a big circle. Concentric, of course.

President Gen. Pervez Musharraf...Duplicitice...naw can't happen.

Does Abdul Qadeer Khan ring a bell? Why pray tell didn't we know about the father of Pakistans nuke program and his lovely sharing of nuke tech. with N. Korea, Iran and who knows how many other nefarious cretans.

The only problem we have with Pakistan is that we don't have the goods (how could we not?) or we are too woosie pants to leverage Musharraf into allowing American special ops the access needed to bring Osama Bin Chickensh@t.

Jihadis got you down? Escaping into neighboring Pakistan to avoid capture? Try the Barret .50 caliber rifle! Armor piercing, explosive tipped rounds effective at 2 1/2 miles! No more escaping jihadis, just lots flesh-a-flying. So pick up the Barret .50 cal rifle at the armory nearest you...

We can literally seal the border with enough snipers. What's the big deal?

The real threat is a destabilized Pakistan that will be vulnerable to <strong>Iranian</strong> backed jihadis. The afghan jihadis have been in Pakistan for awhile. We need to get cooking on a plan to put Iran in the poor house and make them sell as much oil as they can pump.

<blockquote>I guess Musharraf figures <em>he has more to fear from AQ than from us</em> at this point</blockquote>

And that is the essence of wars and winning them ... from whom do you have more to fear.

Somehow I doubt that men have that same "four witness" standard for rape as the women do. I think Pakistani men might object fairly quickly if held to that standard.

Yeah, lets have that total uprising.
It seems like Mushy here wants to make Pakistan into a modern day Laos. Since he's refusing to deal with the Taliban in Pakistan, and if reports are true, just helped to set up Islamic Waziristan, then the US/Nato/Aghanistan has no choice but to go in and clear them out ourselves.
Let Pakistan be another honey trap. It'll keep the Paki Jihadis from blowing up our planes here and in Europe at least.

This is turning into a bad movie.

All we need now is for Musharraf to show up in a white suit smoking a cigar, and Bin Laden to come zipping over the hill in an orange Dodge Charger.

We could call in "The Dukes of Pakistan"... or some such.

Shouldn't change our actions; we should initiate 'hot pursuit' anyway. Without troops there, all he can do about it is whine. The ones that rise up against 'foreign fighters' will get killed; both Pakistan and the COalition would have a solved problem (and a lesson to other countries).

[...] Update: Capt Ed says recent Pak-Afghan moves note a larger security framework that’s not good for the Taliban. But as Allah caught, Fox is reporting that Pakistan won’t allow US troops into the tribal areas, meaning “hot pursuit” will have all the warmth of an ice cube. The balance would seem to be tipping toward the negative at this point. [...]
