The loneliest papier-mache head(s)
posted at 2:54 pm on September 5, 2006 by Allahpundit
A scene from this weekend’s Cleveland air show. While the wingnut warmongers surround themselves with burned flesh…

…and consume mass quantities, perched upon their death machines…

…a lone voice cries out in the wilderness.

Its construction-paper tears fall gently upon the remains of the styrofoam dummy it cradles.

Feel its pain.
Can you feel it?

I’m honestly not sure who the heads here are supposed to represent. Iraqis, presumably, or possibly the victims of Darfur, although in that case I don’t get why he/she/it’s carrying an effigy of a U.S. soldier.
Maybe they’re supposed to represent the mythical “brown person” whom all conservatives secretly loathe and fear. I guess that works. We’ll go with that.
Thanks to Patrick S. for the pics.

Damn! They’ve stopped using those things in DC protests! Last I saw one around here was, I think, March 20 of this year.
I kinda miss them in an odious sort of way.

The 60th annual Miramar (San Diego) Airshow takes place during Oct. 13-16, 2006 and guarantees some extra special events, among which this never dissapoints…

Looks like something from a Mardi Gras parade. “The Drunken Girl” is appropriate. Carried home by her Carribean God of Tequila.
That works for me.

The last one is a disguise for the green helmet man. You can tell from the prop, a lifeless child.

Lol, seriously wtf? As I was slowly scrolling down trying not to let anything influence my impressions I saw that one with the effigy of the soldier… and then saw that it appeared to be a Muslim woman holding him. What is the message? But then again, yeah what’s with the dark brown faces? Who are these people supposed to be? This guy?

This big head thing has more than a passing resemblance to that tricyle thing in “Saw”. Both make me laugh, which probably says something awful about me, but really, the lesson here: nothing good ever comes from papier mache!

Picassean interpretation of Peace?
Not earth-shattering, but I’ve always liked the expression papier-mâché:

And the fourth.
Don’t mind Drifter. He tries his best.

Just think, someone spent hours of contemplation and crafting just to make those….

I know! That brown headed, sandal wearing freak must represent one of the poor ILLEGAL Aliens who is having their ‘rights’ abused by America from not making them automatic citizens.
The doll is a victim of one of their travel agents.

Maybe the ‘lady’ hanging from the dude’s arms is exhausted Cindy Sheehan.
She will now move into a cuckoos’ nest, in a tree house in Crawford, no kidding…

Entelechy, that was a great link. Thanks for sharing, and I’ve given you full credit for the discovery at my choco place.

Danno, glad you liked it.
I checked out your site before and it looks like fun. Btw – I’m a ‘nut’ but I don’t like chocolate, unless it’s straight out of a factory in Belgium (not because I’m snooty, but because once you eat it that way, nothing else comes close; the good ones make it with whipping cream and not with butter, thus it doesn’t last long). But I do like to cook and checked out several posters on your site :) Great job! Looks like lots of work to maintain the site.

Doncha have a closer shot of the cuties on the death machine?
WriterMom on September 6, 2006 at 10:21 AM
Entelechy, thank you.
I ‘inherited’ that site a few years back, and am trying to incorporate the choco theme into political debate as I’m no baker, nor a fanatic about chocolate. It is a good site for discussions as a reply automatically creates a notification which is sent to the person posted to. I started in Delphi back when they had an O’Reilly forum long since gone.
