Mapes joins Rather at HDNet; ready to “break balls” (Update: Mapes says it’s a hoax) (Update: Radar stands by its story) (Bumped)
posted at 5:34 pm on September 5, 2006 by Allahpundit
Radar‘s got the scoop, and gives credit where credit is due:
The documents’ authenticity (though not their substance) was successfully refuted by the same principled wingnuts currently leading the charge against Reuters.
Indeed it was, my moonbat friend. Indeed it was.
Someone’s going to have to record this stuff and post the highlights online. But what if that someone doesn’t own an HDTV?
I guess someone’s boss will just have to pony up, won’t she?
Can’t. Wait.

Update: Mapes says not only didn’t she tell anyone from Radar that she’s going to work for HDNet, she doesn’t know what Radar is. Join the club, Mary.
Can I still have an HDTV?
Update: Radar says yes, in fact, they did speak to Mapes about a month ago and yes, she did tell them she’s planning to go to work at HDNet. I guess I believe them. I give their credibility about a 1, but Mary M’s pure flatline, baby.

Blowback

The changes are emphasized…
Reunited
I was a fool to ever leave your side
Me minus you is such a lonely ride
The breakup we had has made me
Lonesome and sad
I realize I love you
‘Cause I want you bad, hey, hey
I spent the ev’ning with the radio
Regret the moment that I let you go
Our quarrel was such a way
Of learnin’ so much
I know now that I love you
‘Cause I need your botch, hey, hey
Chorus:
Reunited and it feels so good
Reunited ’cause we understood
There’s one perfect fit
And, sugar, this one is it
We both are so excited
‘Cause we’re reunited, hey, hey
Brief instrumental interlude
I sat here starin’ at the same old wall
Came back to life
Just when I got your call
I wished I could climb
Right through the telephone line
And give you what you want
So you will still be mine, hey,
Hey
I can’t go cheatin’, honey, I can’t play
I found it very hard to stay away
As we reminisce on precious moments like this
I’m glad we’re back together
‘Cause I missed your bliss,
Lier, lier, this is solid lies
And you’re exactly what I’m dreamin’ eyes
All through the day
And all through the night
I’ll give you all the lies
I have with all my price, hey, hey

Way to go Allah – I love your subtle appeal for a new HDTV (only for work purposes of course).
I would love to hear the boss’ reaction to that.

“Mark Cuban has told Dan, ‘I don’t give a damn about ratings,’” she says.
Still dealing in lies.

Why would someone hire either of these clowns, much less both of them after they both left CBS, at least appearing to have been in cahoots when trying to bring down the president on the eve of an election with fake documents? Nevermind actually, I forgot, Rove and Charles Johnson planned that whole thing.

I will enjoy watching this go down in flames.

As much as Dan Rather hated President Nixon, in a poetic justice kind of way, he will spend the rest of his days trying to ‘clear’ up his own legacy, which he ruined in pursuit of collapsing an opposite administration.
A couple of impediments:
- not much time
- that annoying thing, called the blogosphere, d–n!
Mr. Nixon is sure smiling…

Radar, huh? Maybe third time’s the charm.

You raise an interesting point. You know how the “big 3″ networks, CNN, the liberal papers around the country have been taking it in the wallets as the popularity of Fox News, blogs, and conservative radio has grown? For some reason, the far left has thought that despite having held the market for generations, and seeing it slowly fading, thinks that they will have success with things like Air America, HDnet, and whatever that thing Gore is doing is. I think this ties in to the study showing that conservatives are having 41% more children than liberals, and that 80% of kids grow up to vote (and obviously then think similar to) their parents. I see this as part of the reason these endeavors are failing so quickly. They are trying to reach an audience who’s opinion increasingly disagrees with them. Bad business. Beyond that, I (and others) have said that it’s clear that this “fertility gap” is why liberals want tens of millions of illegal immigrants for their votes, but as you might have read over at Malkin’s site today, the libs are going after the felon vote pretty heavy too. This is nothing new, but their success in this area is.

Putting them on the air within 60 days of an election could run HDNet afoul of McCain/Feingold, n’est pas?
MCPO Airdale on September 5, 2006 at 5:12 PM
She says she didn’t tell anyone from Radar but if you parse that quote carefully enough did she really say she’s not going to HDNet?
bdfaith on September 5, 2006 at 5:46 PM
If it’s a battle of credibility between Mapes and Radar… Boy, that’s a tough one.
Jim Treacher on September 5, 2006 at 5:48 PM
wow, it’s gonna be like Air America on high-def!! can’t wait.

Much higher resolution, and therefore easier to debunk!

You mean she’s verifying that Dan Rather has no balls?
ScottG on September 5, 2006 at 7:07 PM
Brit Hume on his 6:00p.m. show, during the “Grapevine” segment, quoted her as saying something to the effect of the new assignment. Sorry that I don’t remember more specifically – also, I didn’t record.
Will re-air at mid-night…was a very short segment…

I think you have to go to the Magic 8 Ball on that one.

Is it me or does she look like Ethel from “I Love Lucy”?
RobCon on September 5, 2006 at 10:43 PM
RobCon, except that Ethel was a lovely and honest lady.

I’m waiting for the men in white coats with long sleeves to come get these people.
They’ll probably bust in in the middle of a broadcast, just to get the ratings bonanza!
It would be a fitting end to d.r’s and m.m.’s broadcast shenanigans.
