Stoogemania: Kofi twice embarrassed in Tehran

He flew in to ask them in person for three favors:

1. Stop enriching uranium.
2. Take it easy with the Holocaust denial.
3. Help disarm Hezbollah by expressing support for Resolution 1701.

Their answers:

1. No.
2. No. In fact, they waited until he was in town to announce they’re going ahead with plans to host a conference of revisionists this fall.
3. Sure, why not? It’s free PR. If this chump is willing to legitimize Syria by touting its phony assent to an arms embargo on Hezbollah, just tell him whatever he wants to hear.

Here’s video of Kofi paying lip service to Iranian cooperation; I’d be surprised if a single person in that room believed a word of it. Click the photo of him talking to the goon in the Members Only jacket to watch.

Here’s the transcript of his remarks about the Holocaust at the press conference. Equivocation, even at a moment when he’s showing some spine:

I would also want to say that the other issue I raised which had concerned me a bit was the question of the holocaust cartoon [exhibit]. I think all of us in this room remember the uproar the Danish cartoons created, particularly in this region. And at that time, I did state that, while there may be freedom of expression and the right to freedom of expression, that right is not a license and that it has to be exercised with responsibility, with sensitivity, and judgment. And I think that the tragedy of the holocaust is a sad and undeniable historical fact so we should really handle that and accept that fact, and teach children what happened in World War II, and ensure that it is never repeated. And we have to be careful: Words can soothe and words can harm. And we should be careful not to say anything that can be misused as an excuse for incitement to hatred or violence. I would want to pause here and take your questions.

He’s referring to the Holocaust in that last bolded statement, but I bet an awful lot of radical Muslims and their apologists were happy to hear it.

Meanwhile in Chicago, sham-elected former Iranian president/reformist “good cop” stooge Mohammed Khatami told the annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America that terrorism is largely the fault of the United States and that American Muslims should organize politically to help rescue our foreign policy from “the grips of ignorance and blunder.” One attendee was so moved he stood up and sang. Yes, really:

Who wants to be the one to tell him?

Update: To put it bluntly.

One of the updates will have to be on his meeting with Jimmy Carter, sigh…

Oh please let ME tell him! PLEEEZZZEEE! [I wonder what the punishment for singing is]

Maybe I missed something, but I cannot recall reading about Kofi doing as much globe trotting as he has done in the past few months. Is the guy trying to prove he is, or was relevant? I’m thinking that he is trying to create a legacy as is Cigarman. It might be that he doesn’t want to be remembered as the guy who got away with the Food for Oil scam.

Here’s the not so watered down version of Mohammed Khatami’s statement to the ISNA.

“The power of powers enjoys access to international instruments for securing their supremacy and strengthening their dominance, only seeking total subservience of others,” he told the Islamic Society of North America’s convention.

He castigated the United States for finding it “more convenient” to deal with despots than democratic regimes that do not serve its interests and he denounced the current “war mongering against Islam and Islamophobia.”

Cripes… is he the pot or the kettle?

SilverStar830 on September 3, 2006 at 9:20 PM

I don’t know how Mohammed Khatami was even allowed into the United States. Doesn’t our government have laws preventing those who sponsor terrorism from entering this country? Khatami said that Muslim-Americans could help stop terrorism. Maybe he could give the same message to his own countrymen. Terrorism might be reduced if the radicals would stop blowing up anyone that they disagree with.

By the way, Entelechy- great nom de plume.

Enough of that dolt Annan. He and the useless U.N. are a complete waste of money and time and are a danger to our Republic.

Kofi and Mahmoud? Thats where two fools met.
It’s no wonder Kofi was ignored, both of these clowns are on two separate planets and neither is Earth.

Why should Mahmoud care a crap about Kofi? What does Kofi have to do with anything? The UN isn’t just impotent, corrupt and has delusions of grandeur.
Has the UN EVER been guilty of anything but graft and failure?

DAT60A3, thank you :)

Is Annan doing such a terrible job on purpose? I mean, you can’t be that wrong by accident. When Bill Clinton finagles Annan’s job, then we’ll see some wrong by accident. Bill has no-where to go but into Annan’s job, and his ego isn’t fully satisfied yet. Rules don’t allow him to follow Annan, but as Bill would be the first to tell you, rules apply only to those who get caught.

Doug on September 4, 2006 at 9:35 AM

So now Dopi Annan is channeling Jesse Jackson? *sigh*
Dhimmitude thy name is Kofi.
FoxNewsAlert headline:
Kofi Annan Agrees to Mediate Talks on Abducted Israeli Soldiers
Yeah, right, I am sure he is going to get some major cooperation from the Hezbos, isnt he? I mean, Geee, look how amazingly affective (sarc) he has been with Syria and Iran.
I am so reassured by him..he is so great..he is so “Neville Chamberlinian”/sarc

labwrs on September 4, 2006 at 12:14 PM

Lets see…The UN Security Council, in an ORDER, tells Iran you ‘have to do this by this date“…they’ve done this at least TWICE. Soooo, the UN decides to send their illustrious Illusionary president to Iran. After his visit? Praise God, he has a plan. We are going to NEGOTIATE !!! Hurrfuckiray!!!
Kofi Annan can only be benefiting monetarily (or his son) for him to travel this much. It worked for him before without losing his job, it will work again.
The UN is an obsolete & corrupt entity with little or NO purpose and has a common thief for a leader. You can NOT find a more useless entity in the world. (maybe braille signs at automobile drive thru ATM’s are its equal in inutile items)

You gotta wonder who’s taking this laughing stock seriously, and what their agenda is.

I think putting up with this farce is a major failing of the Bush Administration. To grant moral authority to these assholes is really scary. Unless of course its to say “Well we tried the UN, but look what we got” when they start bombing.

Iblis on September 4, 2006 at 1:19 PM

Question: I’m looking for a new job as a professional stooge and stumblebum. Does anyone know where I can apply for Kofi’s job?

Squid Vicious on September 4, 2006 at 4:45 PM

Maybe this is why Bill Clinton could gun for Kofi Annan’s job…

And maybe this is why Kofi Annan has been traveling soooo much…

Entelechy on September 5, 2006 at 2:44 AM

“Coughing Anus” now proposes more “talks” or writes another “scathing” letter to his pal Ahmanutjob.

A resolution? No, more likely an irresolute resolution.

doingwhatican on September 5, 2006 at 4:08 AM

Who else here would laugh if Ahmadenejad had taken Annan hostage? Show of hands? One, two three… forty, fifty sixty…One hundred…etc…

Doug on September 5, 2006 at 2:18 PM

Doug, then we could have sent Jimmy Carter to Tehran to negotiate Kofi’s release…after all he’s now buddy-buddies with the ayatollahs…
