If you happen to be near a TV tonight, Discovery Channel’s Inside the Twin Towers looks like it’s worth a watch. It started at 9 Eastern, and documents the true stories of dozens of people who were inside the towers on 9-11. It includes quite a bit of archival footage and, so far, is very well done.

Watching it now. So much to say, no way to say it. Just watch the show.

For those who missed it (this guy included), set TiVos for 1 am.

It’s a great show and it’s interesting that the man who was responsible for the redesign after the first attack, was inside the building as this happened, and actually made a radio call alerting emergency services that the building supports were failing. He described in detail his eyewitness account that the support beams were weakening and the ceilings were sagging.
I guess he must have been in on the conspiracy. If so, he’s the first non-Muslim I’ve seen willing to sacrifice himself in a terrorist attack. He was killed when the tower collapsed, while attempting to save others.
It’s a waste of time though. Not one of the liberal conspiracy theorists will watch the show anyway.

A simple yet compelling restatement of the real reason the WTC collapsed.
Though the material is somewhat familiar to any who have watched the various 9/11 documentaries over the last 5 years, the witness testimony is powerful, while not being preachy.
Oh, and no mention of “explosions” as the “truthers” have alleged. What better witnesses than those escaping just as the tower collapsed? Right, they must be Bush plants or have been threatened by “neo-con fascists.”
Morons.

Au contraire el president… but the mention of explosions actually works against the “truthers”. Eyewitnesses reported that the sound of a floor collapsing on to the one below it sounded like a loud explosion. Not that the “explosion” argument went anywhere in the first place, because the Truthers’ claims have been thoroughly debunked, but this just adds to it.

“Sounds like an explosion” does not equal an explosion.
You wouldn’t say “it sounded like a skyscraper floor collapsing.” unless you had, in your life time, heard a skyscraper floor collapse.
That said, things in a fire explode. But explosions do not equal explosives.
Popcorn is an explosion. But the “explosion” is water turned to steam.

Why the hell haven’t the American People and the world been allowed to see programs such as this one? Think it might’ve helped to keep our resolve strong, our belief in the necessity of the war on terror resolute? No. It would’ve bolstered support for W, and that just couldn’t be allowed.
They also have a couple of other excellent programs. One called “Inside 9-11: War Against America”, and its companion, “Inside 9-11: Zero Hour”. Both are very respectful and well done. Highly recommended.
Also, the DVD of “United 93″ will be released tomorrow. If you didn’t get a chance to see it when it was in theatrical release, I strongly encourage you to honor those brave passengers and see it.

I watched it last night. It’s hard to believe that one guy who saw the jet crash through his office yet he survived. What luck.

This appears to be the schedule for re-running of this program if you missed it, like I did. On The Discovery Channel, and Discovery Times:
Inside the Twin Towers, DSC Sep 09 09:00pm
Inside the Twin Towers, DSC Sep 10 01:00am
Inside the Twin Towers, DTIMES Sep 12 08:00pm
Inside the Twin Towers, DTIMES Sep 12 11:00pm
Should be eastern times.

Thanks for the heads up Bryan. The show was fantastic as it put us right in the middle of the event, it totally captured the interest of my 15 year old daughter who turned off her game system to watch it with me, and towards the end I found the statement by a firefighter that We Are At War to be most compelling.
Techno Barbarian, do not fret. People are seeing this and other information about the 9/11 attacks now, and if you want people to remember a thing before an election the time to get the message out is just before they vote.
I hope the movie in the theaters is as good.

I just dugg the story. Thanks for the programming schedual, Eagles5.

No “explosions” in the sense of a controlled demolition by carefully timed explosives, as Wander mentions.
And no mention of visual “explosions” either, where wires, small explosives, or any accelerants are witnessed.

It was an excellent show and the call about the failing support beams was most enlightening. I’m going to tape it when it’s on again.

Quite a sad story that needs retold often.
September 11, Where Is The Anger?

Think you need to expand your cable package. The History Channel has had several programs; PBS has had a series (NOVA) that is very comprehensive, including a long look at the construction (and reasons for collapse after attack) of the towers. CNN also had a program that ran several times that talked to the issue of how of the collapse, had some very well done computer graphics that simulated how the heat of the fuel compromised the integrity of the structure.

Honora, that is great to hear, but could you provide links to those? Inquiring minds would like to see those.
