Howard urges Muslims to assimilate, Muslim leader threatens riots

And if/when the backlash comes, he’ll blame Howard’s comments, not his own, for starting it.
Howard, two days ago:
“There’s a small section of the Islamic population which is unwilling to integrate,” he said.
“And I have said, generally, all migrants … they have to integrate, and that means speaking English as quickly as possible, it means embracing Australian values and it also means making sure that no matter what the culture of the country from which they come might have been, Australia requires women to be treated fairly and equally and in the same fashion as men.
“And if any migrants that come into this country have a different view, they better get rid of that view very quickly.
Which earned him this from one of his own top Muslim advisors, Ameer Ali:
The head of the government’s Muslim advisory committee, Ameer Ali, said on Friday that Howard’s comments could fuel race riots like those at Sydney’s Cronulla beach last December.
“We have already witnessed one incident in Sydney recently in Cronulla, I don’t want these scenes to be repeated because when you antagonize the younger generation … they are bound to react,” Ali told local Sydney radio…
[T]he prime minister said he would not apologize.
It’s the same good cop/bad cop crap Britain’s Islamic leaders pulled on Blair after the big terror bust. The “moderates” get the best of both worlds: mainstream acceptance because they themselves eschew the use of violence plus intimidation by proxy because of the radicals in their midst that they can’t control. It’s a superbly effective way of winning political concessions. Arafat was the master of it, ostensibly seeking peace through negotiations while the Fatah/Hamas einsatzgruppen did his dirty work. How good was he? This good.
Australia’s Daily Telegraph calls this garbage what it is. Howard wrote a piece for them today too. I’ll leave you with this passage:
A small minority of this community, and other groups that reject integration, regard appeals for them to fully integrate into the Australian way of life as some kind of discrimination.
It is not. It is commonsense and, importantly, it is also a powerful symbol of a new migrant’s willingness and enthusiasm about becoming an Australian…
Treating women as equals is an Australian value that should be embraced. Australians generally do not tolerate women being treated in an inferior fashion to men.
There are some societies that do not treat women equally. Migrants from those societies must be fully prepared to embrace Australian attitudes towards women.
We are an egalitarian nation that prides itself on the concept of a fair go, our equal treatment of men and women, our parliamentary democracy and free speech.
Embracing these values and other Australian ideals is vital for new arrivals. All new arrivals.

I still am astounded at the lack of amy commentary of this issue from any of the “Women’s Rights” groups in the West.Then again those harpies do not like the kind of men who protect and cherish the women in our world.

Why make it sound like they don’t? As I’ve just been at some pains to explain, the ones who aren’t blowing shit up seem only too willing to use the ones who are, or who might want to, as a political lever.
Not sure how to answer your first point, though. Come to think of it, why would Howard be especially concerned with unassimilated Muslims in particular?
(I know why. Because he’s a racist!)

Not that throngs of people here in America are clamoring to immigrate to another country because the living conditions here are so putrid and hard that they can’t take it anymore, but if large slices of the American citizenry immigrated to any Muslim country, you can be damned sure they’d make certain you and your women assimilated into their way of life… under penalty of incarceration, amputation, execution (public or private… whatever the religion of peace Holy man thinks is best), or even worse… bunga! Okay, there’s no such thing as bunga that I know of, but you’d pay a damn hefty price for trying to bring your Western ways to almost any other place on Earth rather than integrate.
It only makes sense if you’re going to leave your homeland to make a new country your home to at least try to integrate into their way of life. Why else even go there? You can do that and still retain your cultural identity. Why the hell is everything always so one sided for Muslims? Why do they think they’re so damn special? Why don’t they just stay where they are, in their Islamic utopia where death is their panacea, instead of spreading like a cancer and trying to dominate the entire world in a concerted effort to subjugate the entire planet through riots and suicide bombings and… oh, nevermind… duh

Ya’ll are all missing the point. They don’t WANT to assimilate. The whole idea is NOT to assimilate and grow in numbers so that they become an actual political force to be reckoned with. Think about it: if 40% of your “democratic nation” (think Franch and Britain) is muslim, they will begin to make demands of the government, infiltrate shiria law a tiny bit at a time, and erode the freedoms we hold dear because, well, THEY ARE 40% OF YOUR COUNTRY! Kind of makes sense. Assimilation does not help them meet their end-goal, which is to spread Islam throughout the world and destroy Judaism and Christianity.
Remember: they want us DEAD. they don’t want to become LIKE US.

SilverStar830, because the word “Islam” doens’t mean peace, as is erroneously propagated or assumed.
The Arabic word for peace is “Salaam.” Properly it is As-Salaam. Explained to me by Persians who speak Arabic.
Islam means submission to the will of their G-d, by any means: dhimmitude or, if not accepted, killing.

Looks like Howard has identified the Achille’s Heel in the islamic immigrant victim argument.
Continue to point out the appalling mistreatment of women by that group. No western society should tolerate such a culture based on that issue, let alone terror associations or WMDs.

I can state from 10 years experience of working with Muslims in schools, that they are NOT here to assimilate,but are on a crusade to change US.
By the way,so are the immigrants who live to the south of us.
