It should be noted that only very rarely does an allusion to assassinating the Bushitler work its way into the public discourse here. And when it does it’s always veiled, e.g., the Times praying for an “act of God” to deliver us from evil.

Since this is supposed to be a “thought-provoking critique of contemporary US society”, once again Europeans clearly think they know more about us that we do.

Imagine the LLL reaction to a presidential assassination. While I’d love to believe that they’d respond to the act with disgust and horror as any sane American should, the cynic in me says they’d respond by throwing a party and lionizing the perpetrator as they would some kind of genetically engineered super-offspring of Cindy Sheehan and Mumia Abu-Jamal.

In the meantime, we get subtle-as-a-jackhammer messages like the ones sent by this film and others like V for Vendetta.
