More nutroots porn: Bush blown away in Brit snuff-udrama

posted at 1:05 pm on August 31, 2006 by Allahpundit

The boss is all over it. As is Bryan, who’s 100% right about what the real “tell” in this movie is — not the assassination itself, which doubtless is standard nutroots fantasy fare, but the fact that a Syrian man supposedly ends up being framed for it. It’s Truther allegory. Five will get you ten that the film ends with the Syrian guy in the electric chair, telling the executioner, “Let’s roll.”

Read Bryan’s post. He’s got essential background.

It should be noted that only very rarely does an allusion to assassinating the Bushitler work its way into the public discourse here. And when it does it’s always veiled, e.g., the Times praying for an “act of God” to deliver us from evil. The UK is more up front about these things: witness the Guardian publishing a columnist’s appeal for a modern-day Lee Harvey Oswald one week before the 2004 election, the BBC terror “comedy” showing Tony Blair’s corpse with a hole in its head, and of course George “A Hero For Our Time” Galloway’s contention that a suicide bomber would be morally justified in blowing Blair to pieces.

I wonder what explains the difference. Maybe MI5 isn’t as vigorous as “following up” on assassination rhetoric as the Secret Service is. It’d be a fun experiment to have the Service suspend prosecutions for that offense for, say, a week, though; just declare open season on calls to kill Bush, with a promise of immunity to anyone who violates the law within the set time period. Imagine what the Internet would look like. At DU they’d be debating what caliber bullet to use.

Here’s the thing: if they really do believe Bush is a monster worthy of assassination — and some of them surely do — how can they stand it? Here’s Kathy Shaidle by way of Mark Steyn:

I wonder if the nuts even believe what they are saying. Because if something like 9/11 happened in Canada, and I believed with all my heart that, say, Stephen Harper was involved, I don’t think I could still live here. I’m not sure I could stop myself from running screaming to another country. How can you believe that your President killed 2,000 people, and in between bitching about this, just carry on buying your vente latte and so forth?

If you think Bush is Hitler, how the hell do you not take a shot at him? Or is the Bush-hate, as I suspect, simply “burlesque”?

Update: More Shaidle, this time on the film’s likely reception in Toronto:

I can absolutely guarantee that the audience will burst into wild applause during the assassination scene. I know, because many of my liberal “September 10th (former) friends”, as I call them five years on, are Festival hags who book their vacations around the Festival. And I know how their tiny minds work.

A few years back there was a mockumentary about Bill Gates being assassinated. Except that was a no-budget indie film, not something made for British television.

Doubtless this is a movie the majority of Hollywood would love to do but won’t (for fear of backlash). So, Hollywood, the DU and the rest of the Socialist left in this country will live vicariously through this movie…..while masturbating.

Imagine the LLL reaction to a presidential assassination. While I’d love to believe that they’d respond to the act with disgust and horror as any sane American should, the cynic in me says they’d respond by throwing a party and lionizing the perpetrator as they would some kind of genetically engineered super-offspring of Cindy Sheehan and Mumia Abu-Jamal.

In the meantime, we get subtle-as-a-jackhammer messages like the ones sent by this film and others like V for Vendetta.

Since this is supposed to be a “thought-provoking critique of contemporary US society”, once again Europeans clearly think they know more about us that we do.

These are the same folks who think GWB refused to sign the Kyoto Treaty (it was rejected by the Senate years before he was elected president), that our students learn only US history (they don’t), that the government controls our media (oh, pleeeeeze), ad nauseum.

A bizarre form of “burlesque”, for sure.

Can’t think of a better way to describe it.

What happens when we pray for God to deliver us from evil, and then find out we are “the evil”?

Something for the Times to think about.

These people don’t think very far ahead. A Bush assassination means President Cheney, a no doubt very pissed-off President Cheney. That ought to scare them more, we’ve seen what he does with guns.

Maybe Cheney would appoint Karl Rove as VP just to watch the mass exodus of wing-basts north across the border.

Mallard T. Drake on August 31, 2006 at 4:24 PM

If Cheney appointed Rove I think we’d see heads exploding before they could make it to the border.

Coming soon to a YouTube near you: The Bush Assassination remix, ad nauseum.

BDS has reached its apex. Where to now?

Entelechy on August 31, 2006 at 6:16 PM

After the hit on Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rice, and Rumsfeld in chains at Gitmo as “war criminals” naturally. It is a lib moonbat wet dream.

Mallard T. Drake on August 31, 2006 at 7:11 PM

Keep it up libs…bring the republican base to polls.
More of this should certainly assist another win for the conservatives.

If something was to happen to our President I would not want to be Gabriel Range, and Simon Finch.

Why do these artsy fartsy types always think they are above reproach?

Just when you think the left can’t sink any lower they go China Syndrome on ya.
