I live and work on the Texas-Mexico border. I’m sure you have heard what the Border Sheriffs Association has said. If not, I’ll tell you a few things. We are under attack. Those of us that work attempting to stem the flow of illegal aliens and drugs are outnumbered and out-gunned. I drive 37 miles each way to work, It is standard practice to drive with your service weapon on the seat next to you. Thye know what we drive and where we live. It is not uncommon to be followed and harrassed on the road. I have had objects thrown from passing vehicles at my car breaking the windshield twice now. The smugglers have a great way to make sure they pass their “products” across the river. They lure as much law enforcement as possible to one area, then cross tons of dope, and probably hundreds of aliens, across the river. We need help. We need our military, fully armed and with liberal “Rules of Engagement”, to patrol the border with us. Mexico has their military on the border. They assist the smugglers. Why can we not have our military patrol our border and stop this invasion? Please, HELP US!!

Yes, but that isn’t a threat related to marijuana… it’s a threat related to the government making a desired good (”good” as in product, I’m not making a moral judgment) illegal.

My point being that even in a society where the government doesn’t tell you which drugs are “good” and which are “bad,” meth labs are dangerous. Inherently.

And Mark, around here, the ginormous mexican meth labs are funded by growing weed in our forests and BLM lands. The illegals hide out there with AK-47s and shoot at hikers, set booby traps, and generally don’t give a crap about what they do to keep their cash crop under wraps.

I do agree it’s still less dangerous than the blowing-up-house-meth-labs you find in Oakland or LA.

Luckily, in my town, we have a free paper called the New Times that published an article called "Meth Made Easy." It's been really helpful to the mom and pop meth labs in this county. The liberal media-always helping out the little guy!

Wake up America! We’re losing our indigenous illicit drug culture, people!

I realize this is intended in jest, but as a Florida resident, I have to say that outsourcing of meth labs is definitely a good thing. The danger with meth labs in a community isn’t that people will use the drug… addicts will be addicts, and consumers will always find a way to get the products they want. The danger is that the labs will blow up and start fires that’ll burn down a city block. If they want to set up the labs in Mexico and bring the product here… go ahead.

Meth labs are dangerous: one of the few illicit drug businesses that is dangerous in and of itself, not just because of a government-created black market crime effect.

This happened in Georgia and the newspaper had the headline about the big meth bust. The ONLINE headline by the SAME newspaper said “MEXICAN”..no mention of it being illegal Mexicans in the newspaper headline.

Agree with you Pablo. I suspect the mom & pop labs are finding it much harder to produce. And the more “successful” the Sudafed restrictions are in curbing the production of meth here in the U.S., the more certain it is that Mexicans will take over the meth trade. Restriction of the legal supply here AND lax border enforcement means that Uncle Sam is basically funneling the business to Mexico.

If we were really serious about reducing the supply, then we’d be talking about border enforcement then, wouldn’t we…

What? You mean they aren’t buying Sudafed and turning those tiny little pills into kilos of Meth Crystals?

You know… Sudafed. That used to cost $1.99 per 24 pack and now takes a prescription and costs $17.89 per 10 pack.

But lets nationalize healthcare because obviously the people in government can do a better job allocating then the free market.
