Audio: “Unterfuhrer,” round two — Levin vs. Hackett

Mark Levin had Hackett on his radio show this afternoon to pose a simple question: now that he knows Dan Senor’s mother is a Holocaust survivor, is he sorry for having called him “Unterfuhrer”?

Of course not. The fightin’ nutroots don’t apologize, baby.

Levin had some fun teasing out the implications of Hackett’s chickenhawk idiocy, too. Enjoy.

I listened to as much of the debate as I could stand last night. I turned the TV off just before Hackett made the remarks reported here. The reason? Hackett was such a piece of insulting slime and furthermore made no sense.

What amazes me is the fact that this turkey almost pulled off an upset in the off-year congressional race in Ohio. I can understand now why the Democratic Party forced him out of the senate race. Given his insulting and arrogant demeanour (he is far worse than Howard Dean in this regard!) plus his basic ignorance on foreign policy, over the long campaign he would have proved a huge embarrasment to the Democratic Party.

My sympathies to Senor, a real gentleman who did not deserve to on the same forum as Hackett, much less to be trashed by him. To me, Hackett’s biggest insult to the American people last night was his claim that no one who has not been in the military has the right to opine on issues involving the military.

ptolemy on August 31, 2006 at 7:56 PM

Well I have been in the military and I say this turd is just that, a turd. Being in the military does not qualify anyone’s opinion to be better or more informed than someone who is not in the military and I am damned tired of the vets like this turd and Kerry, thinking any different.

As a vet it was a honor my Country allowed me to defend her and her citizens, especially the ones like Dan Senor’s family who have suffered more indignity that I shall ever know.

Wade on August 31, 2006 at 8:14 PM

I’m also a vet. 24 years in the world’s finest and most powerful nuclear Navy - and I wholeheartedly agree with you, Wade. This guy’s an idiot. Kerry is, too. I agree, too, that it’s disingenuous for veterans to say that anyone who hasn’t served in the military doesn’t have any credibility when discussing military actions or engagements.

Hackett is a mental midget. The Demoncrats deserve this moron.

Corky on August 31, 2006 at 8:39 PM

During my 20+ years in the Navy as a surface warrior, people like that never went topside after dark. They feared accidentally falling over the side.

Hackett gives pond scum a bad name. I used to believe there was nothing lower than a sea cucumber, now that I’ve seen and heard Hackett, I must rethink.

I too served and his tired “chickenhawk” argument is tiresome.

MCPO Airdale on August 31, 2006 at 9:18 PM

It’s still ringing in my ears. I did hear it, I swear. Mr. Hackett said “Retribution is legitimate; Bin Laden deserves it”.

Blew me away. A Democrat sait it! Next time the death penalty is discussed as a rightist and crude method by the Leftie elite, remind me of this recording.

“I’m not impressed” Mr. Levin concluded. I would never want to be on Mr. Levin’s bad side. Good job!

We’re not at war because people are “spreading their hate.” If we were, Hackett would apparently be on the purge list for his lack of basic human decency and inability to separate his opinions of somebody’s qualifications from a personal comparison to Hitler. We’re at war because these people KILL those they hate. Any questions?

Hacked farked up royally when he couldn’t come up with a better reason to go after bin Laden than “retribution.” KP actually had the decent point the other night against AC when she implied that OBL could’ve had a hand in Skybomb or whatever we’re calling it. I haven’t read enough to know if there’s anything to that theory or not.

But anyway. Levin was great.

Anwyn on August 31, 2006 at 10:13 PM

Hackett is everything that is wrong with politics. He’ll say anything he thinks will get him ahead and distort the issue as much as possible just to screw up the debate.

Perhaps equally as bad is the way he blows minor details or technicalities out of proportion in order to legitimate his dishonest rhetoric.

For example, Levin asks him if he regrets bringing Nazi references into the debate with Senor. After Hacket insists that he didn’t bring it up first, he points to Rumsfeld’s speech as his justification. In other words, since Rumsfeld used World War II references to make a point during a speech, that means it’s ok for Hackett to call Dan Senor the “unterfuhrer”.

What a slimeball.

4thelittleguy on August 31, 2006 at 10:20 PM

I was listening to the Levin-Hackett exchange as it happened live, and Hackett certainly proved to be a piece of work. He refused to apologize for his Nazi references to Senor even after being told that Senor’s mother was a Holocaust survivor.

This is the face that Democrats want to put forward? That will really work out well for Democrats in future elections. Yeah, I can see those middle of the road folks - on both sides of the aisle just running to vote Democrat after hearing this. /sarc

Hack it swings wildly from thumbsucking leftist to somewhere right of Buchanan. His engagement to the Kos Kids is an affair of convenience, marrying his cynical opportunism and their drowning-man desperation.

After the nazi comment, we won’t have to spend any more energy on this ambulance-chasing desk jockey. He’s so bad, even the Dems might not want him anymore…

Jaibones on August 31, 2006 at 10:32 PM

Well I have never been of the school of thought that the only ones qualified to discuss military issues are those who served themselves. Being a veteran myself I don’t buy into that. However, what truly amazes me about those on the left is their utter hypocrisy. It didn’t matter a bit that Clinton didn’t serve as they told us it wasn’t necessary to be CINC. However, it was different when W was the candidate.
Back to the Hackett idiot, what an ass who doesn’t feel that he should have apologized for his comment. It makes no sense that he can’t be a man and say that he made a mistake. What a pathetic individual who has three kids to put through college—how many people have the same problem?
Wish we could get Levine’s show out here. It sounds like it’s great listening.

Catie96706 on August 31, 2006 at 10:37 PM

Catie96706-thanks for reminding me of the hypocrisy about Clinton not serving but Bush being raked over for not seeing action in Vietnam. It’s almost funny to think that his Guard service may still be part of the Liberal litany of Bush faults, as he served with distinction while Clinton was smoking pot at Oxford. Liberals-I don’t question their patriotism, just their aquaintance with reality.

Doug on September 1, 2006 at 1:07 AM

Poor poor Paul Hackett… the boy who would be King, but instead became the Bipolar liberal without a party. Even those on high in the Dem party can’t stand him. He’s been reduced to doing his schtick for anyone willing to give him 120 seconds of airtime, which is 119.99 more seconds than he deserves. He’s a low-life who wears his brief military service (where he did a whopping seven months as a civil affairs officer with the 4th Civil Affairs Group of the 1st Marine Division.. ie: posing for pictures with Iraqi Children) like it’s a pontifical robe.

As long as they keep giving him rope, I’ll keep crossing my fingers.

SilverStar830 on September 1, 2006 at 1:10 AM

… well, at least he mentioned “islamic extremists.”

Other than that …, blech.

Ya gotta love Mark Levin. Go Mark!!!!!

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on September 1, 2006 at 8:39 AM

I was amazed that Hackett gave as many direct answers as he did.

I liked it when Levin called him “illogical” and challenged the idea of Hillary being CIC because she has never served (using Hackett’s reasoning).

Once again The Great One proves to his listeners that he is a Class A Mensch. Listening to this interview, (more like a scolding) I now know why Mark doesn’t have more opposing guests on.

This argument of theirs, “You haven’t served” is getting stale real fast. Over 90% of this country has not had the privilege and honor of serving, yet we are not allowed to support those that do serve.

In their eyes, if you didn’t serve you have the right to condemn what our troops are doing. Hell, you even have the right to gang attack a soldier and beat him like a dog.

The next time a lib shoves the “You didn’t serve” crap in your face, explain to that person that you didn’t feel you were up to the task of doing the jobs that most Americans wont do. After all that is what our beloved military is doing, not the illegals.

Hackett is an outright chickenshit LIAR! And the lowest scum of an ambulance chaser I’ve ever heard. His days are numbered, get the transcripts, stick a fork in him!

You are very welcome Catie. Keep listening to the Great One and keep your ears open for my calls into him. I proposed to my girlfriend in front of Mark backstage at the Hannity on Broadway show earlier this year.

that is why Levin is “the great one”

robo on September 1, 2006 at 1:56 PM

Mark is right, Paul should apologize.

For all the talk about how President Bush should regret this, and apologize for that, I don’t see liberals like this guy coming forth and apologizing, even when he is so blatantly wrong.

Captain America on September 1, 2006 at 2:02 PM

fogw, been wanting to tell you this for a while - your posts are always interesting, well thought out, and sometimes incredibly funny. Best regards,
