[...] The truth is the Emmy’s are boring. So it makes sense that the hottest news coming out of last night’s show is Conan O’Brian’s opening segment in which the presenter is shown flying aboard a plane that starts to violently shake and then crash. (Watch it here.) This sketch might have been funny if a real plane hadn’t crashed and killed 49 people in Kentucky the same morning. [...]

[...] Understandably, the NBC affiliate in Lexington, WLEX Channel 18, was shocked and dismayed by NBC's Emmy broadcast opener. According to news reports, the Lex 18 News was just ending a recap of the crash coverage when the station saw the Conan plane spoof skit come over the live feed. WLEX’s president and general manager, Tim Gilbert, was home watching the telecast with his family and would have pulled the plug on the Emmy broadcast if only NBC network execs had had the sense to warn him ahead of time. "It was a live telecast — we were completely helpless,” Gilbert told the local newspaper. “By the time we began to react, it was over. At the station, we were as horrified as they were at home.” Gilbert said he’ll complain to NBC, but he said an apology won’t make up for insensitivity. “They could have killed the opening and it wouldn't have hurt the show at all,” Gilbert said. Here's the video of the poor taste skit if you missed it. [...]

[...] If one ever wanted to see just how out of touch Hollywood and the “Left Coast” is from reality, one needed to look no farther than last nights Emmys. NBC managed to do the unthinkable. On the same day that Comair Flight 5191 crashed and tragically killed all but 1 of 50 people aboard; NBC and Conan O’Brien decided that it was ok to do a parody of a plane crash during last nights Emmys.
[...] Bloggers and critics alike have soiled there undergarments in rage over last night’s Emmy telecast, citing the “poor timing” of an opening skit that featured a plane crash broadcast on the same day as an actual plane crash in Kentucky. Thunder Dog does not usually comment on entertainment, but frankly we had to note that this is not the only time television has pummeled us with this insensitivity! In fact, just last night, Thunder Dog watched an episode of PBS’ Mystery that featured (steel yourselves!) MURDER! Yes, in the midst of a “crime emergency” here in Washington, DC, PBS was insensitive enough to show a television show depicting murder when actual people are being murdered.
This Is Why I Don't Watch The Emmys...

Hot Air has the video clip.

I also don't watch the Grammy's, the Oscars, or any of the other celebrity ego-stroking that airs on national television. Simply put, I've got better things to do than to watch a bunch of rich, spoiled liberals go on...

[...] The Drudge Report and Hot Air are all trumpetting the the parody of an air crash on the Emmy’s yesterday, only hours after the tragic deaths of 49 people in Lexington Kentucky. I don’t watch Hollywood pat itself on the back so I missed Conan O’brien’s spoof Lost (which is one of the two shows we watch on the antique media - 24 being the other one). But I am not surprised. The best movie’s out there are movies like Rudy and Radio and Katherine Ham points out there was plenty of time to change the intro and even extend some well wishes. But Hollywood doesn’t relate to fly-over country as kindred spirits as much as a revenue source. Hollywoods lack of vision outside of LA’s and NY City’s elitist circles is truning the place into a bunch of crass, rich spoiled people who look down those poor masses who have to live a “normal life”. A life each and everyone left to get rich and famous, and only a few realized was something they needed to get back. [...]
