Report: Up to seven suspects in German train-bomb plot (Update: Linked to AQ?)

They arrested the prime suspect a few days ago and were hunting for one more. He finally turned himself in to authorities in Lebanon. His name? “Jihad.”

Now there’s news from Der Spiegel that German police might be looking for up to seven other suspects. Which “complicates” the revenge theory.

One other bit from Spiegel that I simply have to highlight:

Youssef Mohamad E., who has been an engineering student in the northern city of Kiel where he was arrested, had links with Hizb ut-Tahir (Party of Liberation), an Islamic and anti-Israeli party, the Berlin newspaper Der Tagesspiegel reported, citing unnamed German security sources. The party was banned in Germany in 2003 because it was deemed anti-Semitic.

Security sources said several members of the arrested man’s family were “problematic.” They said it was feasible that Hizb ut-Tahrir or party supporters among his family instilled radical views in him.

Hizb ut-Tahrir. The “peaceful” Islamic supremacist organization.

Update: Just telling you what I hear: Lebanon’s Interior Minister told Reuters TV that they found Al Qaeda contacts on “Jihad”’s computer.

“There is nothing clear now, but in his computer, we found something that can be related to al Qaeda, some contacts. He denied any contact til now with al Qaeda, but maybe he was working without knowing (it) himself under the umbrella of al Qaeda,” he added.

Blowback

You questioning their peacefulness, Moongod?

Der Spiegel also reported a few days ago that the first suspect student, Youssef Mohamad al-Hajdib, who was apprehended a week ago, got very “upset” about the Danish Muhammad cartoons and that he told his math teacher in front of the class that “punishing” the cartoonists were justified.

The cartoons were also published in major German newspapers.

Mein Gott! There is terrorism?

Entelechy on August 25, 2006 at 1:55 PM

Mon dieu, there isn’t terrorism, not even the possibility of such…

The Europeans want so much for this to just “go away”.
They sold their people on the idea (particularly in Germany/France/Belgium) that is was the awful old USA who “caused” the terrorists to attack NYC.
If they didnt support the “Great Satan”, of course their people would be safe. This attitude completely FORGOT the TERRORIST ATTACKS in the middle of Paris in 1995!!
They want SO much to believe that if they just ignore the current situation and continue to whistle in the wind, the terror wont come to them. WRONG. It is already there.

Waken sie up, Duetschland! Your “We’re so sorry about hitler that we’ll never be pre-war again” attitude is costing you your nation. It’s ok to be pro-war if it means defending yourself against barbarians who wanna kill you!

If you don’t wake up before it’s too late I’ll only have one for you: Tschuess!
