All thanks and praise to our friend Matt Sheffield of Newsbusters for digging this one up and lending it to us for posting. Follow the link for background about the group and a transcript of the lyrics. Sample: “I hope we can destroy your life and make you worry / Zionism and Zionists are the biggest poison in Arab land.”

It’s all the rage in the Middle East.

Update (Ian):

After mocking the “Hawk of Lebanon” song as a barn dance and Arab version of the macarena, radio talk show host Laura Ingraham mused:

“I would not be surprised, given some of the reporting on this entire conflict, if we had this song blaring through the halls of some of our cable channels.”

Eh, I prefered the music video about the IDF

. (I went around for days humming that bugger.)

Good beat, easy to dance to. I give it an 9, Dick.

Hmmm…. lyrics about guns, and bombs, and war, instead of virginal love and feelings and all that flowery crap… and somehow STILL just as gay as the original.

Where is Simon Callow when we need him?
Forget the IDF, Simon could have them crying to momma with a stare and withering remark.

Man I can’t stand punk rock… but I got a real kick out of *reading* the lyrics, JVE. Sounds like a cool group. Not one I’m likely to ever be caught dead listening to, but I’m glad they are willing to spread a bit of common sense.
