Audio: Kirsten Powers comments on l’affaire Coulter

Vid’s here if you haven’t seen it yet. John Gibson had her on his radio show today to talk about it, and she was, as always, simply enchanting. Johnny Dollar has the audio.
But that’s not the big news. The big news is that KP’s launched a new blog called, um, “Powerspoint.” Which is cute, although any of the following would be better:
1. Powersmania
2. The Kirsten Powers Experience
3. “I agree with Michelle, but…”
I do want to spotlight a little of her writing because it’s working some magic on the big A:
The belief that I have disdain for the netroots seems to stem from a few postings about the Lieberman/Lamont campaign. I’ll be clear: I do not have disdain for the netroots, in fact I have enormous respect for the movement. But I do have a problem with some of the vitriolic language that is used against other Democrats, particularly centrist Democrats, of which I am one. I don’t like people referring to Lieberman as being “insane” as one DailyKOS poster did. He’s not insane. Some disagree with him, but attacking him that way is not necessary…
I refer to the “far left” in one of the postings and the reason I do this is because I do believe that there are people on the left that do not represent mainstream Democratic views. So I don’t want to just say “far left” because I think that lumps people on the left in with even the most fringe views, such as believing that there is no war on terrorism, something most people I know who are on the left simply do not believe. I also consider it a fringe view to believe that the London terror plot was a hoax to hurt Lamont’s chance of winning. You may or may not disagree, but that’s where I stand.
She might not realize it yet, but she’s on a slow boat towards the center-right. And guess who’s going to be there to greet her — with open arms — when she finally arrives.
One other thing, in case she should follow her referrals back to this post. I say this not to hurt, KP, but as an admirer who wishes to see you and the faction you represent succeed in the blogosphere: your blogroll sucks beyond belief.
She’s hosting Hannity & Colmes again tonight, by the way, so tune in. If she shouts anyone else down, I’m sure we’ll have the video. As for Johnny Dollar: I see from your Julie Banderas avatar that you’re a man of exquisite taste. I offer you the following screencap as a sign of our blog’s eternal friendship.

Update: Here’s a minute or two from tonight’s show of her and Hannity tackling the hard news. They’ve Huddyfied her! Ailes, you magnificent bastard.
If they’re willing to make KP vamp-tastic, what the hell are they going to do to the boss when she guests for O’Reilly on Tuesday? The mind reels.

Who cares what she says, turn the volume down and just watch her. that’s all liberal pundits are good for.
Have any of you guys ever seen Richelle Kerry on CNN? OH. MY. GAWD. She oughta be on FOX! Thanks to Glenn Beck for givin’ me a reason to turn on CNN.
Tony737 on August 25, 2006 at 8:08 PM
Forget the blogroll, that’s a terrible picture. If anything, she should replace it with this thing.
Man, she’s hot.
Not Goldstien hotpants hot, but pretty hot…for a girl.
MacStansbury on August 25, 2006 at 8:54 PM
I’ve watched Kirsten Powers here and there over the last year and a half or so. I was never too impressed, seriously. But it seems she’s coming into her own now, in a way, or evolving… whatever. I don’t know much about her other than what I’ve seen of her on Fox. She’s always seemed pretty much unconcerned with the facts when I’ve watched her… which pretty much sums up her whole party line. She appears to understand that she must despise Republicans, period, without actually knowing why though. From the times I’ve watched her, when she’s pressed to provide details about the standard Democratic jargon that Bush is a liar, inept, and irresponsible, etcetera ad nauseum, she’s been absolutely clueless and Colmes couldn’t help. When she’s asked why Bush is a bad President, again, there’s no sensible explanation. None. She’s simply brainwashed me thinks. Or, she’s simply just part and parcel of that mislead breed.
One thing’s for sure, she definitely needs to do something about those roots! She should grow her hair out it’s natural color. It would go well with those lovely big brown eyes :)
Looks like she’s a semi-regular blog contributor on the HuffP site. And her BIO: Kirsten A. Powers served in the Clinton Administration as Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Public Affairs. She was Vice President at American Online for three years, and also was Vice President of the AOL Time Warner Foundation; among other things.
Clinton was
screwingmessing around with Monica Lewinsky… and he had this gal running around his digs???SilverStar830 on August 25, 2006 at 9:32 PM
Hey Allah, Is she OK? KP? At first look on H&C, she seemed to be masking something, hurt face, bruise, I cant figure it out, but slightly swollen? You’re the inside guy on this topic, KP, find out will ya?

I think it’s just a different hairdo.
But I bet Coulter’s got a mean left hook…
mikeyboss on August 25, 2006 at 9:39 PM
Herpes sores? I mean… she did work for the Clinton Administration for a few years after all.
SilverStar830 on August 25, 2006 at 9:39 PM
Mac,
I agree on the screenshot you linked. A woman who can laugh at herself moves waaaaay up, in my book.

The crew that’s on right now – KP, Mercedes, Megyn Kendall …
It’s like I’m watching HotAir or something.
(And Dr. Baden is no slouch, either.)
mikeyboss on August 25, 2006 at 9:46 PM
Dude, they did Huddyfy her! She looks a lot better, but I still have to say that I saw her one wihout make-up that one day and I can never again think she’s hot like I used to. But yeah they did pull a Huddy, because I remember when Huddy was just very plain Jane and suddenly she’s in there with not hair styles, tight shirts and mini skirts and fish nets and you’re like what did they do to her? Ailes totally trolls the internet looking for comments on the hotness of the Fox News Foxes and sends the ones who need work to overnight and weekend hottness camps. It’s all there in the fine print of their contracts.
But it’s about time we saw some Julie Banderas around her. Banderas, Kiran Chetry, and Rebecca Gomez are painfully hot, and there are a good dozen or so others on FNC that are hot as well. But you can’t top those 3.
RightWinged on August 26, 2006 at 12:19 AM
lol, funniest thing I’ve heard all day… and I even watched the All Your Fakes Are Belong to Us video again.
RightWinged on August 26, 2006 at 12:20 AM
All right, boys, so which is better? A chick who looks hot when worked over by a stylist but woofs with her makeup off?
Or a chick who rarely wears makeup and looks decent all the time? Hmm? And this isn’t for TV, now. Girl you meet IRL.
Anwyn on August 26, 2006 at 12:52 AM
It looks like her blog has been around since late 2004, on and off. I don’t get the “new blog” thing.
DaveS on August 26, 2006 at 1:20 AM
New design.
Allahpundit on August 26, 2006 at 1:20 AM
Anwyn… a chick that looks decent all the time would definitely be much better. I mean, if she needs a team of specialists to transform herself from a grotesque sideshow freak into a beauty queen, then you aren’t going to have much quality time left to spend together.
Watcher on August 26, 2006 at 1:35 AM
Thanks, Watcher. I figured; just wanted to hear one of these cads say it. ;) Or read, as the case may be.
Anwyn on August 26, 2006 at 1:40 AM
I guess I should add: maybe not “woofs,” but looks totally different with her makeup off. I’ve seen that time and again … doesn’t necessarily look bad, just totally different. I guess the question is do you want to go to bed with the same face you spend the day with.
Anwyn on August 26, 2006 at 1:42 AM
And now also is the time when I think I must say to Watcher, in my best Tim Allen, “You’re mocking me, aren’t you?”
Anwyn on August 26, 2006 at 1:47 AM
No, I’m not mocking you. ;-)
I’d honestly be more attracted to a chick who looked decent without makeup… though I would hope she had at least some skills in that department. It really saddens me to see a naturally beautiful face get ruined by bad makeup choices. Stuff like blue (?!) eyeshadow, plucked eyebrows that have been redrawn, and super-duper glossy lipstick are all huge turnoffs for me.
Watcher on August 26, 2006 at 2:17 AM
Heh. My comment as originally staged was silly–of course nobody wants a girl who “woofs” with or without makeup.
My second comment was closer to what I actually meant–Normal all the time? or smokin’ part of the time and colorless by comparison the rest of the time?
Yeah, I never got that whole redrawn eyebrows thing myself. I had a piano teacher who did that when I was a kid. For all I know she may have had them permanently tattooed back on. Yep–people do that.
Anwyn on August 26, 2006 at 2:28 AM
You think that’s bad? We had this assistant/substitute in middle school English who looked literally like a clown. It was frightening. And the smell of the perfume… oh the perfume. It was unbelievable, literally that tickle in the back of your throat that makes you choke if she came within 10 feet. The worst part was that the regular teacher’s (picture a female version of Will Ferrell’s Harry Caray) breath reeked like alcohol within 10 feet, so we couldn’t decide which was worse. But the winnebago lady with the make-up was beyond creepy, I can’t even describe.
RightWinged on August 26, 2006 at 4:01 AM
Anwyn,
I generally prefer how women look with little or no makeup. I love how a woman looks when she’s just woken up. Now morning breath, that’s another issue. :)
mikeyboss on August 26, 2006 at 7:43 AM
Anwyn, no make up! Mrs. 737 only wears it for work and she only wears it ever so faintly. She doesn’t need it, she’s more beautiful the way God made her then the way Maybelline … Mabaleen …Mabi … *AVON* makes her look, and THAT makes her very sexy. I know this’ll sound corny but, it’s not just the beautiful face and the great body, it’s her mind, her soul, her morals and values, her intelligence and her upbringing that I fell in love with and made me wanna marry her. Now she’s carrying a baby girl 737 in her cargo bay. I pray she grows up to be as beautiful as her mother.

Tony737,
Sounds to me like you’ve got it just right. Good luck with the new babe!

I have to admit KP looks pretty good on the Hannity clip but its all makeup. Plus, I cannot find a woman I disagree with so vehemently attractive under any circumstances. I agree she has become slightly more sane as takes her “slow boat toward right center”. I didn’t have to mess with the tint option on my tv to make her look ok for once. Her face was less pink and her hair less orange.. I mean thats a plus right?
RobertCSampson on August 26, 2006 at 10:49 AM
Allah – I hope you are not holding your breath awaiting Ms. Powers conversion. This woman worked for Clinton.
You remember him, don’t you? The guy you never found a principle in his life worth defending, thought giving military technology to the Chinese for political donations was a good deal and gave out pardons like AOL disks.
If this is the paragon of Ms. Powers political beliefs and her treatment of Ms. Coulter is an example of her atttitude towards the exchange of ideas, I think she no intention of moving any further towards the center-right.
MCPO Airdale on August 26, 2006 at 10:50 AM
Powers is a amateur and perfect for network news. She doesn’t do Colmes justice. Let her fill in for Katie Couric who she is really trying to copy. All flash and no substance. I guess she hoped the executives at Fox could not see past her looks.
RobCon on August 26, 2006 at 11:06 AM
Out of context, but still a cool phrase.
mikeyboss on August 26, 2006 at 11:22 AM
I don’t see the attraction factor here.

SilverStar, you better be really REALLY careful about saying things like this. You might p*ss of Allah and he’ll BAN you from the site. He’s gunna stick up for his wummin.
pullingmyhairout on August 26, 2006 at 3:33 PM
Thanks Mikey, I just hope little Baby 737 arrives at the gate on time and with all of her parts pieces :-)
Shooter, nah, Mrs. 737 isn’t into politics, but she does take the right side of most issues when asked about it.
Andy, I agree, K.P. is alright, but nothing to drool over. Now, as I mentioned above, Richelle Kerry (news babe, not commentator) is friggin’ HOT! She’s on CNN so the only reason I even know of her is because she does the news during the Glenn Beck show. When she comes on just turn off the volume and put on some music, then sit back, relax and enjoy the flight!
Tony737 on August 26, 2006 at 3:39 PM
Tony737,
If this is your first child and it’s a girl, plan to be suckerpunched when you see her. my husband is totally whipped over our girl. Daddy, can i have new doll? sure precious girl. Daddy, can I have a new car? absolutely. what else, dear? it is quite sickening. but i wouldn’t have it any other way! :)

Powers comes off as a yuppie DNC hack. I almost prefer the far left radical argument.
RobCon on August 26, 2006 at 7:22 PM
Speaking only of looks, and just comparing the two pictures, above, in the ‘made-up’ picture, KP looks like a Barbie version of Kirsten Powers, like porcelain.
Entelechy on August 27, 2006 at 2:16 AM
I’d rather drink beer all day with Tereza Heinz-kerry than spend 10 minutes talking politics with Miss Kirsten
gary on August 27, 2006 at 7:59 AM
If KP had to operate with in the bounds of a presidential debate where you MUST let your opponent speak she would be toast. I would love to see her and AC hash it out again in a format more like that. Ann would hand KP her proverbial head on a platter so to speak in a debate of that sort.
