Update your dioramas: Pluto no longer a planet

The destabilizing currents of the Bush administration go galactic.

Fare thee well, tiny space rock.

Always wondered how Pluto could be Goofy’s pet dog. Do dogs have pets?

RDS on August 24, 2006 at 10:29 AM

Does this mean I have to edit my Gustav Holst CD?

RedWinged Blackbird on August 24, 2006 at 10:29 AM

I question the timing.

B Moe on August 24, 2006 at 10:35 AM

Dang it, B Moe! You beat me it!

EFG on August 24, 2006 at 10:42 AM

Pluto was Mickey’s dog. Do “mice” (read ‘rats’) have pets?

a4g on August 24, 2006 at 10:49 AM

Must think… Must come up with a way to blame the Jews, err, Zionists and Israel for this…

That Jew, er, Astronomer Carl Sagen is dead, so I doubt he can be blamed. Stephen Hawkins… Hmmm, maybe. Hawkins doesn’t sound very Jewy, but you can never be too careful. Think EFG, find the conection…

Ah-ha! Steven Hawkins published a book called “A Brief History of Time.” Well, as we all know, time is money. So that title really is saying “A Brief History of Money.” Well, we all know about conniving Jews and their love of the filthy lucre, so I think it is obvious.

Steven Hawkins is a Jew who has downgraded Pluto in order to somehow make a killing trading dollars for shekels in support.

I used to think that ZOG and the Jews were merely trying to rule the world. Now I realize that it goes much further than that. They are trying to rule the entire solar system, nay, the entire galaxy!

Jews. Is there anything they can’t do?

EFG on August 24, 2006 at 10:54 AM

Er, make that…

Steven Hawkins is a Jew who has downgraded Pluto in order to somehow make a killing trading dollars for shekels in support of Israel and world Jewery.

The Jews are responsible for that mistake. Somehow.

EFG on August 24, 2006 at 10:57 AM

What is their conclusion about Uranus?

dallas94 on August 24, 2006 at 11:02 AM

Triple points to dallas94 for sneaking in such a pervy question into a “family blog” under the guise of legitamacy!

Well done, dallas. Well done indeed.

EFG on August 24, 2006 at 11:04 AM

Actually, Bush is responsible for the loss of an entire planet. Can’t quite explain how, but he must be somehow.

Mike O on August 24, 2006 at 11:18 AM

That bites, but I guess it’s better than their alternative, “when the group’s leaders floated a proposal that would have reaffirmed Pluto’s planetary status and made planets of its largest moon and two other objects.” Equivalence would’ve gone solar.

Anwyn on August 24, 2006 at 11:22 AM

What is their conclusion about Uranus?

That you should clean it sometime.

JasonG on August 24, 2006 at 11:58 AM

Pluto is not insulted, nor indignant…no, not at all, carries on as usual…said that Mr. Rove called last night, with best wishes.

Entelechy on August 24, 2006 at 12:17 PM

The astronomer who discovered Pluto, Clyde Tombaugh, grew up here in Kansas, which has earned a reputation as hating science, what with all of us redneck Christers holding back knowledge. So this is a way for the scientists to slap us down. I bet half the voters thought it was Limbaugh!

The Monster on August 24, 2006 at 12:22 PM

And yet Hawkins says man made global warming is FOR SURE. Hmmm, this is why science is so great, it’s always uncertain. Unless you’re Algore or, I guess, John McCain. In that case you are omnipotent.

*sigh*

NTWR on August 24, 2006 at 12:41 PM

Sorry, but I can’t buy it. I went to school when teachers were honest, and my teacher told me that Pluto is a planet. Just because a bunch of eggheads take a vote doesn’t make it true. Pluto IS a planet! So, there….. pffffft.

firegeezer on August 24, 2006 at 12:54 PM

What is their conclusion about Uranus?

Make sure there’s no Klingons.

Kini on August 24, 2006 at 1:44 PM

Scientists reclassify Pluto as “Dwarf Planet”.

In other news, scientists reclassify Earth as “Doomed Planet”, suffering from stupid human infestation.

fogw on August 24, 2006 at 1:58 PM

How rude is that? Calling it dwarfplanet? Isn’t there a more sensitive term like, little planet or planetarily disadvantaged???

NTWR on August 24, 2006 at 2:09 PM

Not very PC – it’s pure discrimination and intolerance. How dare we at Earth, the civilized planet, come to such conclusions? All those poor third world, err…”dwarf” world microorganisms – where’s the sensitivity???

Rick on August 24, 2006 at 2:11 PM

How ’bout Orbital Challenged Planet?

fogw on August 24, 2006 at 2:16 PM

What is their conclusion about Uranus?

dallas94 on August 24, 2006 at 11:02 AM

….It’s a gas!

:)

VonHelton on August 24, 2006 at 2:24 PM

Dammit, liberals do what liberals do.
They now created a victim “dwarf” planet that will be under the umbrella of the other planets.
They’re always creating victims they’ll claim to protect.
Damn libs!!!

batperez on August 24, 2006 at 3:02 PM

Isn’t this a sign of the coming apocalypse? Did it change on the 22nd?

THeDRiFTeR on August 24, 2006 at 3:28 PM

And yet Hawkins says man made global warming is FOR SURE.

Are you sure which globes he was talking about, ’cause he kind of slurs his words sometimes.

Just sayin’.

B Moe on August 24, 2006 at 5:54 PM

Ahahahah! Gooood one, B Moe.

NTWR on August 24, 2006 at 6:21 PM

Is this decision academically retroactive because I might actually have passed science class?

Drtuddle on August 25, 2006 at 1:02 AM

Although 2,500 astronomers from 75 nations attended the conference, only about 300 showed up to vote.

See what happens when you don’t vote? You end up with a liberal consensus.

As the founding member of the Solar System Legal Defense Fund I hereby request that you donate to the cause of saving the solar enviroment from radical reductions by the uncaring liberal junk scientists. Let’s keep Pluto pure for our kids!

Send your donations to, DannoJyd@Excited.con .

DannoJyd on August 25, 2006 at 3:53 AM

Does this mean I have to edit my Gustav Holst CD?

No need – Gustav’s work didn’t include Pluto, as it was composed before 1930.

How prescient is that?

Corky on August 25, 2006 at 8:07 AM

Hey, now that Pluto is no longer a planet, it needs minority protection. Let’s put all leftists there to build a perfect socialist utopia and defend the downtrodden “dwarf” planet from the evil capitalist imperialists republicans from Saturn. Then we can send all muslims there and sit back and watch the fun ensue!

“planetarily challenged” HA! Good one!

Tony737 on August 25, 2006 at 11:07 AM

Update: Pluto appeals decision.
