Late afternoon palate cleanser

As Jacqueline Mackie Paisley Passey is to blogs, so KFed is to America.

Quick links: hilarious takedowns by Lileks and Johnny Dollar of Dennis Miller and Olbermann, respectively; lefties declare moral victory over Wal-Mart; and China has a good idea many of us here might benefit from.

Update: HE’S RIGHT. HE’S RIGHT.

Blowback

I imagine Dennis Miller knows many will not understand some of his references. I don’t think there’s any shame in making one’s work smart, and asking something of the consumer. Authors like David Foster Wallace and Mark Leyner routinely send me scrambling for the dictionary or Google. I like it. It makes me smarter to read them.

That video almost makes me yearn for Vanilla Ice,lawdy lawdy.

I’ve never really seen Olberman’s show, its not broadcast here on regular television. I have however seen clips on blogs. What a underwhelming experience. Are the only people that find him funny the ones you hear laughing in the background during his show? Does anyone take this guy seriously? And what is his thing with O’Reilly (admittedly, not my favorite showman, but not my obsession either)?

Coincidence: I’m pretty shure I’m stupider having watchd the videoh. YEuh! I needled those IQ points Alluh. I’m cereal.

Ok, so, Walmart working with ChiComms = BAD

Google working with ChiComms = GOOD

Makes sense now.

Oh, and I’ve been accused of the “leading on the guy friends” thing, but I call BS. None of my girlfriends can talk or work on classic cars the way guys can. And that’s all I talked about with my guy friends, besides politics.

And KFed, c’mon, what do you expect from someone from Fresno, or as we like to call it-”the ‘No”

It’s one of those valley towns that’s so full of illegals it’s now cool to pretend to be ethnic, even when you’re white (as KFed brilliantly showcases) and even the little blond girls have chola accents.

Allah do you know, or have you commented on, the ladder theory? You MUST have seen this before. The ladder theory is a bit on the cynical side, but I thought it was funny and great when I saw it several years ago.

The Ace link was hilarious. Having hot chicks as friends is great, provided you know from the beginning that you’ll never get so much as a kiss from them. As long as you only talk to them when you feel like it, and you arent spending money on them, you can get just as much out of your friendship with them as you put into it.

By the way, the “hot chicks” tend to rationalize that any guy who they might be “leading on” just wants to f*ck them, and is therefore a pig, and he deserves what he gets anyway. lol

Allah do you know … the ladder theory?

Only too well, sir. Only too well.

Allahpundit on August 24, 2006 at 5:43 PM

I appreciate Ace’s zeal, but I don’t think it’s a matter of Be[ing] a man.

Experiment: Any verifiably hot dudette, make a list of ‘friends’ — all with appropriate body configuration. Scratch off anyone (1) gay (2) involved. Verifiably means the guys on the list know you’re hot.

Call the one’s who are left. Bet you have to hang up first every time. Bet you have to go first every time.

Ace thinks it’s just a matter of decision. I’m thinking, as usual, we’re being told what to do more than we’re telling.

By the way, guys being “insufferable p*ssies” in no way excuses the fact that women who keep a guy around as friends while at the same time dangling hope of more to string the guy along are every bit as bad as guys who dangle the possibility of a committment and relationship in front of girls in order to keep getting sex out of them.

I draw a distinction here between girls who really do offer hope of more, sometimes through deliberate ambiguity, and the delusional guys who merely hope in vain for more even though it is obvious that the woman isn’t really interested.

Some women do make a guy wait a long time for a kiss, and then for sex. I know because I have (regrettably) stuck it out until then. The long wait just raises expectations, setting the guy up for disappointment, and making it very likely the guy will take off shortly thereafter and cut his losses. It also breeds resentment, which will come to the surface after the act, assuming the guy hasn’t already hit the road.

Indeed.

Well, for the uninitiated, then, wtf is the ladder theory?

I’m thinking “common sense codified into a social law parody screed.” Correct me if I’m wrong.

Anwyn on August 24, 2006 at 6:42 PM

Ladder theory.

Allahpundit on August 24, 2006 at 6:46 PM

Starts off with a Harry Met Sally foundation. Doesn’t that movie, and any cred it may have, totally contradict the general drift over at Ace’s?

Anwyn on August 24, 2006 at 6:52 PM

Whatever, thanks for the link, I haven’t gotten all the way through but I’m about ready to call BS on at least half of it. Pretty much the half that begins after “there definitely is a ladder.”
