If a true comedian has wit that is as sharp and quick as a rapier these people seem like crude, drunks with a blunt cutlass – or a club.

Although, Jeffrey Ross was ok and Lisa (whatever her last name is) did have a few good jokes in there.

I miss the old roasts, the ones that Dean Martin used to do. They were edgy for their time. Compared to what we see now, the old shows are like watching Sesame Street or something.

Ah, the old days….where you could be funny without resorting to racist jokes or vulgar comments.

I do agree with Wicks….if these were conservative comedians, there would have been a MAJOR uproar about this from the left.

Swearing, off color ad hominem attack, belittling of minorities etc. is not funny in and of itself.

See, when Richard Pryor did it, it was funny because Pryor knew the fundamentals of the craft of the comedian. First and foremost being timing, but also the knowledge of something subtle in the use of bad language. Richard learned that from Lenny Bruce.

These people learned nothing from either, except that the potty mouth gets the middle school laff and snicker.

Some part of me just wanted to kick the crap out of that guy after he said that. Just pissed me off too much to watch the rest.

A roast of William Shatner…it could have been great and was instead merely okay.

And why was Farah Fawcett there? What’s the connection with Shatner? Her plastic surgery prevents here from smiling properly and her time at the mic was atrocious.

Best line of the night: “Betty White is so old that on her first game show the grand prize was fire” (the dig on Garafalo might have tied it)
Honorable mention to Shatner saying Star Trek broke barriers: “We let an Asian man drive”

Betty White was a shining example of how to get nasty without taking a trip to the septic tank, Farrah Fawcett was proof that there remains a few with good taste, but no comedic talent [Allah didn't deem to include her in the list of roasters], and whoever was responsible for shoving the singing of William Shatner down our throats for soooo loooong should be hurt as that was, IMHO, a definite example of torturing innocents.

If you feel no need to visit homosexual porn sites on the net then stay far away from the Shatner Roast.

I am far more interested in tonight’s Travel Channel- Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations episode where they were taping in Beirut when the ‘fun’ began a month and a half ago.

Most of the jokes were either rascist (Lampinelli’s promiscouity with black men) or Gay.
Very little class or good natured ribbing. More like a grade school slap fight.
Takai was pretty funny though, and I am still chucklin over Nichols “Kiss my black ass” comment.
