Steve Centanni update: No claims of responsibility, no demands

For all their many, many, many, many faults, Palestinian terror organizations aren’t in the habit of killing journalists for no apparent reason. Problem is, if you believe Abbas and Haniyeh, it wasn’t a terror org that pulled this off. It was freelancers — presumably, because no one’s claimed responsibility.
They might very well be lying about what they know, but if it’s true that the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades were involved, you’d expect Haniyeh to point it out. AAMB is the “military wing” of Hamas’s rival, Abbas’s Fatah party; pinning this on them would undermine his authority at a time when the international community is trying to prop him up while isolating the Hamas government.
No demands have been made yet, either. I don’t want to panic but my mind is starting to wander to that video of Tucker and Menchaca.

Oh, Allah….I didn’t want to hear those words out loud (or see them in print). I have had a VERY bad feeling about this since day one, and it’s making me physically ill. I’m scared to death for both Steve & Olaf….
God, please bring these men home SOON!
Ms. U

Yeah, I have had a bad feeling about this one too. Even with that, I’m trying my hardest to remain optimistic that they will be released. I wish I could say this post made me feel better. Again, my thoughts and prayers go out to Steve, Olaf, and their families.

This is freakin’ scary. I pray that they are released unharmed. The silence is leading me to believe…there will be no release…at least in an unharmed state.

I dont like this one either. It seems to me that after Daniel Pearl anything is possible. I guess we just keep saying a Prayer and crossing our fingers.

Hmmm…. “to the shores of Tripoli….”
I seem to remember when America had guts… and would NOT let our citizens be kidnapped.
Isn’t that famous line of the Marine Corps Anthem from when Pirates in Tripoli kidnapped a Widow with children, and we sent in the Marines to clean it out??? or is my alzheimers kickin in…
Now we don’t even talk about it in our own media…
This is news folks…. much more so than a 10 year old overblown murder investigation…

Don’t like the sounds of this one either. Thought about Daniel Pearl right away as well. Will continue to pray for their safety and for all those in harms way.

Ms. U, –anything can happen from here, even good things. Those what-ifs (even if they are sensible what-ifs) will take your heart away. I start thinking that way, I try to remember that the universe is significantly larger than the intentions of the bad guys, or the length of their arms.
Sorry; a bit personal, and unsolicited advice at that. I just know how you feel is all.

Isn’t it the rule that al-Qaeda do not publicly claim “responsibility” for their acts? If so, then if no one speaks up, it seems al-Qaeda members are among the suspects, unless we learn something that should rule them out.
My preference is to use any occasion to whack everyone who may have been involved. Collective guilt is something we should exclude from civil life, but just like pre-emption and torture, it’s useful as a technique of warfare.

Fox is finaly covering the story….

You are correct, Romeo13… I caught Brit Hume (I believe he’s the first anchor to have a mini-piece on it) yesterday after work, and immediately recorded and posted it:
http://www.msunderestimated.com/2006/08/16/foxs-brit-hume-finally-breaks-silence-on-gaza-abductions-video/
I didn’t think Brit would hold out after he got back – I can tell he has true affection for his Fox family. I bet it is EXTREMELY difficult for the rest of the Fox people to try to act normal. I know it would be for me.
Thanks, Axe.. I know what you’re saying, and I hope you’re right. I just don’t like my gut feeling.

I have also got a bad feeling about this whole thing. I’m really concerned that no demands are being made. I hope that my ‘gut’ is wrong on this one.
Prayers for Steve, Olaf and their families. God be with them.
