Well said Colonel White, better men indeed.
You have our support.
You have our enduring gratitide.
You answer the call when our Country is in need.
We all owe you a debt that can never be repaid.
God Bless you and those like you.

Sweet nationalism and patriotism. We should make the Dixie Chicks watch this for 24 hours straight. Then they will how and why their careers went into toilet.

Thank you Hot Air crew for showing this, and thank you Colonel White, for your honesty, integrity and devotion to duty. With fine officers such as this leading the best army the world has ever seen, we will see our misson through, no matter the obstacles, here or abroad. It is nice to know there are still those of us who hold their service high, and believe in the truth, honor and dignity of the greatest nation in the world

I’d pay good money to see what someone who manages to wind up on the wrong side of that man earns for his trouble. This is who’s got your back, America. Don’t forget it.

THAT’S the kind of people that make you proud to be a United States citizen!
These are the kinds of people that the Democrats would RATHER listen to:

Thank God we have people like the Colonel protecting our country!! And thank you, Colonel White, for dedicating your life to its service.
docdave on August 15, 2006 at 12:17 PM
Conversely, over at the Democratic Underground, today’s threads seem to be a mix of jovial celebration for the perceived defeat of Israel, the usual hatred for Bush, and the more than often seditious traitor type messages that make you wonder why they are even here in this Country to begin with.
NRA4Freedom on August 15, 2006 at 12:28 PM
I loved Col White’s comments, despite the fact he ripped me and my colleagues in academia. On the other hand, maybe it is because I, too, am deeply ashamed of the attitudes of most of my colleagues. As the song goes, “if you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything.” Many of my colleages in their hate for America are de facto supporting the worst tyrannies in the world.

A Fox pundit recently stated that the average IQ of our sevicemen stationed in Iraq is significantly higher than the average IQ of the teachers in the New York Public School system.
With apologies to Dean Wormer, to all you pansies at the Democratic Underground; being wusses, fairies, and stupid is no way to go through life.

With all due respect, it isn’t the LtCol. that should be lauded, he’s just saying what we all think. It should be each and every one of those guys on the field that he was addressing, that we laude. It should be each of those vets sitting in the stands that we render a slow slaute to.

The LTC is one person in the Army who isn’t PC & we need more people like him. Once many rise to the level of Field Grade-you see all the PC idiots who don’t want to offend people who may disagree with those who serve or who condescend the service of those who do and have. Useless is correct but it’s people like the LTC who are able to vocalize the feelings of us and speak them in a forum where they won’t be drowned out by those who march around on the streets of Waikiki praising the cowardly Lt. Ehren Watada. Many of those in academia are the punks who spat on the servicemen returning from Viet Nam. Now they have the opportunity to indoctrinate a whole new generation of mindless numbots who have spent their lives living in a fast food, sesame street world where the culture of the goofball hollywood celebrity or music star is to be praised more than the life of regular folks who go about their day protecting our country be they military, fire men or cops.
As for the dixie twits who have thumbed their noses at their core group of original fans-they can only sell out concerts in deep blue states or Canada. They are also selling army green hats and dog tags with their names on it. I guess they feel they need their own twit army because that’s the only “army” that will respect their drively music.

The “latte-biscotti crowd” isnt worthy of your notice. *LOL* I love it! GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS! With such wonderful, committed men in our Armed Services, we will always prevail. Even through the rough times, this is the kind of person America produces over and over again.
Thank you Colonel White..for your service, for your integrity but most of all for MY FREEDOM!

Thank you Hot Air, and;
Thank you Colonel White, you’re a great American.
You’re the type of man that keep us strong.
I’m just glad you’re on our side.

As a prior-enlisted officer I’ve spent time in both camps. College kids are just that: kids. They believe what the overwhelming majority of their professors tell them, professors who act as the high priests of the socialist religion. The professors’ first priority is removing the kids’ ability to make reasoned judgments; to think rationally and to act on the resulting convictions. That kind of thinking presents a great danger to someone selling a philosophy inimical to human happiness.
The result is a group of college kids who think opposing Islamic fascism is being ‘intolerant of diversity’.

If I may, also congratulations to the Section IV Outlaws, Flight 558, Squadron 322 for just graduating Basic Military Training, and for setting a new BMT Academic Excellence record of 47 out of 51. Outstanding.
That’s my boy :)

This is why I encourage some of my students to enlist…when they come back home after Basic and drop by to see me you can see the difference in them…boys at graduation, men after Basic Training.
You’ve got to love that, right?
Well, many of my students who go that route report to me that other teachers discourage them from enlisting. Those would be the types of people the Good colonel is referring to in his speech.

Sand Hill baby. E 1/19.
OSUT was the best 14 weeks of my life. Wake up, eat all you want, and then blow S up all day. Fire different weapons, roadmarch all over the place, and basically have nothing to worry about.

Let me add that while I fit the demographic that this speech derides, I recognize that these men are my betters and do what little I can to let them know it. It reminds me of a certain St Crispin’s Day speech….
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.
Henry V, Act 4, Scene 3

What a great speech – makes me want to break out into song (to the tune of, “Alma Mater”)–
High above the Chattahoochee,
Near the Upatois,
Stands our hallowed Alma Mater -
Benning School for Boys!
Forward ever, backward never,
Winners to the end;
To serve our country is our calling,
Hail! Oh, Hail! Fort Ben!
If one day I ever find myself strolling past my old stompin’ grounds at Harmony Church, I’d like to make a quick detour, find the good colonel, buy him a drink and get him to tell me what he really thinks.
PS: Is it just me, or does Michelle keep looking better and better the longer her hair gets?
Spurius Ligustinus on August 15, 2006 at 4:46 PM
we have a nephew who graduated from Ft. Benning basic two years ago. now he’s finishing up (God willing) his first tour in Iraq. He left for basic a boy, graduated a man. Left for Iraq a man and is coming home a warrior. he is our hero. Leaders like this LTC do this country proud by speaking the plain truth. HE is a REAL supporter of the troops!!
pullingmyhairout on August 15, 2006 at 5:01 PM
Why isn’t LTC White running for public office somewhere? OK, why isn’t he running against Pelosi? (Please feel free to insert the name of your own favorite Democratic incumbant.) Why do we hear more about Cindy Sheehan than we do about heroes like this?
mkstach on August 15, 2006 at 5:13 PM
By now Dean, Hillary and “WAR HERO” Kerry have called for an apology for that speech.

Back in the day, we used to say “what the U.S. Army and the Soviet Army had in common is that they both have political officers”. COL David Hackworth (an absolutely great American who unfortunately passed away)called them “perfumed princes”. LTC White is none of the above. He is the type of commander that looks out for the troops first. He is an absolute inspiration to all. Bless him and all like him; damned few left.

Great Vent Michelle!
LTC White speaks of what is so obvious to those who visit Hot Air: MSM, Academia, and Liberal engaging in sedition while enjoying the freedom and benefits of a great nation protected by those so much better than they are.
WWI and WWII were fought by patriots and Americans who believed in our great nation – and laws were enforced against sedition that made UNITY an important priority. We Should go back to those times and identify as Americans, with the interests of the United States at heart.
I believe the word “Patriot” is a dirty word in places like San Francisco – and we need to change these attitudes by going back to when Unity was more important than “Multiculturalism”.
omegaram on August 15, 2006 at 11:48 PM
As posted on the day he spoke, here are two favorites:
YOU WON’T HAVE TO GUESS OR BASE AN OPINION ON SOME BESPECTACLED SO CALLED EXPERT, OR HOLLYWOOD “PROFESSIONAL PRETENDER” WHO DEFINES DANGER AS CROSSING THE STREET, LEAVING CAMPUS, OR HAVING A DECAF LATTE INSTEAD OF A REGULAR. YOUR HEAD WILL NOT BE FILLED WITH THE EMPTY THEORY OF THE OLD PATHETIC SLACKERS WHO TEACH ON MANY CAMPUSES… THE ONES WHO RAN TO CANADA, OR HID OUT IN EUROPE, WHILE MANY OF THE VETS WITH US HERE TODAY PUT IT ALL ON THE LINE IN A PLACE CALLED VIETNAM. THE SNIDE ARROGANT CROWD WHO SPEND THE DAY BLAMING AMERICA FOR EVERY WRONG IN THE WORLD BEFORE GOING HOME TO SLEEP AT NIGHT UNDER THE BLANKET OF FREEDOM PROVIDED BY BETTER MEN! …BETTER MEN SUCH AS YOU STANDING ON THE GRADUATION FIELD.
I FOR ONE WILL NEVER…EVER… APOLOGIZE FOR BEING AN AMERICAN AND DON’T YOU EVER FEEL THAT YOU HAVE TO. WE’RE NOT PERFECT BUT I CAN THINK OF NO PLACE BETTER. WE DIDN’T BECOME THE GREAT COUNTRY THAT WE ARE BY ACCIDENT….WE EARNED IT! —- AND WHILE WE WERE AT IT— WE KEPT AND CONTINUE TO KEEP A LARGE PORTION OF THE WORLD FREE. AMERICAN BLOOD AND SACRIFICE IS THE INDISPUTABLE PART OF THE WORLD EQUATION. MORE PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD ARE TRYING TO COME TO OUR SHORES THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY. WE REMAIN THE BEACON OF HOPE FOR MANY, AND GOD WILLING IT WILL ALWAYS BE SO. WE’RE NUMBER 1…DON’T APOLOGIZE FOR IT – BE DAMN PROUD OF IT!
