Passport photo of a five-year-old girl with bare shoulders: Offensive to Muslims

posted at 1:01 pm on August 14, 2006 by Bryan

I would say this is unbelievable, but I’ve become too cynical for that. It’s just…another story, another day in the wobbly West.

A five-year-old girl’s passport application was rejected because her photograph showed her bare shoulders.

Hannah Edwards’s mother, Jane, was told that the exposed skin might be considered offensive in a Muslim country.

Here’s the photo:

What kind of perv finds that offensive?

We all know that there’s only one way to satisfy this kind of super-hyper-mega sensitivity: Do it the CAIR way!

I’m starting to get offended by people who get offended.

Do we know if she was even traveling to a Muslim nation? Or is this the policy if Brits are going to Japan as well?

Number 2 on August 14, 2006 at 1:08 PM

She was going to the south of France. So in a sense, she was going to a Muslim country.

Bryan on August 14, 2006 at 1:14 PM

All I can say is the British get what deserve when they give in to bull crap like this. Britains a lost cause, might as well accept it. “Britarabia”

darwin on August 14, 2006 at 1:14 PM

That doesn’t look like a real burka. Someone definitely photoshopped it. It’s fauxtography. LMAO!

Eventually they’re going to say we can’t shoot terrorists because it offends Muslims.

Five year-old girl’s shoulders in a picture: offensive to muslims.

Practice of slaughtering five year-old girls (and anyone else around) as a standard means of fighting: not offensive to muslims.

Hoodlumman on August 14, 2006 at 1:40 PM

Hoodlumman,

That sums it up pretty well.

Clark1 on August 14, 2006 at 1:44 PM

This is amazing. I cannot believe ….no, wait, I can believe it. *sigh* The world is going to hell in a hand basket, and I seriously don’t know what can be done about it. People protesting FOR terrorists, people who think Saddam was just some wacky nut pain in the neck screwball, that silly guy… All that Kurd killin’ was just a cry for attention, didn’t you know? Terrorists aren’t really killing innocent people, right? I mean, they’re just angry at the western world because we keep insisting that Jews exist! Get rid of the Jews, and turn over the entire world to the new Caliphate, and everything will be just hunky-dorey, don’tcha know?

DakRoland on August 14, 2006 at 1:52 PM

It’s a good thing she wasn’t wearing a Piglet t-shirt in the picture… they might have stoned her on the spot.

This is not the policy of the British passport service, postal service or any other service, nor is it political correctness gone over the cliff, not even in ‘good ol’ multi-culti Europe’.

I’m almost positive that it is some Muslim bureaucrat’s interpretation of his/her own values.

One has to only go through a London airport once, to realize what hyper-bureaucracy and socialism in action mean. There are 5 people for each job performed single-handedly here in the U.S., all in the name of ‘high’ employement – guess who gets these government jobs?

Entelechy on August 14, 2006 at 2:07 PM

Yet the muslims have not peeped that Green Helmet guy paraded around with a dust covered toddler as if he bagged the first deer of the season…

allie on August 14, 2006 at 2:13 PM

Off topic, I know, but what a cutie!

Why don’t we all wear burqas in passport photos, and render the passport useless once and for all!

NTWR on August 14, 2006 at 2:18 PM

No, No, NO!!! I don’t want to live my old age in a burqa. I hope the mother fights this and fights it to the world court if necessary.

Ellen on August 14, 2006 at 2:29 PM

but she is going to a muslim country (france) which has rioted over less, so you never know

Defector01 on August 14, 2006 at 2:30 PM

“I hope the mother fights this and fights it to the world court if necessary.”

That won’t do it. The world court is beholden to the gods of political correctness, as is most of the world (with the exception of muslims of course). Her only chance, our only chance, is to arm up and prepare to battle the muslim devil in the streets.

darwin on August 14, 2006 at 2:36 PM

NTWR, a world without borders, thus without passports, is when you will wear a burka, take the ‘praying’ position, be skrewed first and then have your head chopped off.

Entelechy on August 14, 2006 at 2:39 PM

Heh, lets piss off all the Muslims, and require all ID photos have to show a little shoulder. Better yet, how’s about a little ankle boys?

Iblis on August 14, 2006 at 2:41 PM

I’ll bet they have some wild bachelor parties. Imagine all the wild praying and anti-Israel chanting and maybe even an honor killing or two. They have so much to be proud of.

Shmo on August 14, 2006 at 3:21 PM

Let’s make up a new sport: coming up with and deliberately doing things that would offend muslims if they were to learn of them. We could pick just one day of the week or of the month as a Holy Day of Offense. Maybe the day of the full moon, just to make the point?

Kralizec on August 14, 2006 at 3:51 PM

I don’t CAIR if Muslims are ever offended about anything anymore…I am so used to seeing “Muslim” and “offended” in the same sentence that I have become uncomfortably numb. You bet your burqa that if this happened in the USA, the ACLU and CAIR would be defending the “muslim sensiblities” to the bitter end.

Wake up people. The real battles will be well underway soon. Better be on the right side. Unless you wanna see two Hezbos goin at it on HBO*, I’d get on our side.

“Maybe the day of the full moon, just to make the point?

How about email a pic of a scantily clad women to a muslim day?

Or ship a bottle of bourbon to someone in Iran day?

Air drop 40 billion playboys over the middle east day?

Air drop 40 billion crucifixes day?

Air drop 40 billion cartoons of mohammed over the middle east day? That should fire ‘em up.

Indeed!

Lawrence on August 14, 2006 at 5:31 PM

Heck, they “marry” 5 year old girls in Islamo-facist countries.

gary on August 14, 2006 at 5:51 PM

darwin, I like your ideas! Let them freak out and tire themselves out temper-tantrum style.

Sorry about the burqa comment, just seems like passports are pretty useless these days anyway. At least, here in Kalifornia where if you want 5 you can buy them at the local carniceria…along with ss numbers.

NTWR on August 14, 2006 at 6:48 PM

Islam offends me NUKE MECCA!

Hellpig on August 14, 2006 at 7:01 PM

NTWR, thanks for your clarification on the burqa comment.

New passports just out.

Entelechy on August 14, 2006 at 7:06 PM

What do you expect of a country that outlaws self-defense?
