Palestinians kidnap Steve Centanni from Fox News

Ms. Underestimated has details. I saw the alert earlier on Drudge about a Fox News cameraman and a “producer” having been kidnapped, but now that it’s someone whose name I know, it somehow hits closer to home. Which is stupid, but there it is.

Two Fox employees being held by jihadis. This should prompt some mighty interesting comments today from certain segments of the nutroots.

And so it has.

Update: Details:

A witness said two vehicles blocked the journalist’s transmission truck in the centre of Gaza City and a masked man put a gun to a bodyguard’s head, forcing him to the ground.

The kidnappers then sped away with the two journalists.

The inmates at the DU are ecstatic over this.

JammieWearingFool on August 14, 2006 at 3:17 PM

That’s the second most disgusting DU thread I’ve ever seen.

Savage on August 14, 2006 at 3:17 PM

Sorry, AP, you beat me to it with the nutrooters.

JammieWearingFool on August 14, 2006 at 3:18 PM

Why can’t those darn Leftist Pothead Traitors learn from their ignorance.
They are as evil as Amenjeadalabba, or however you say that crazed Jihadi Cracksmoken’ Islam-a-bob’s name.
These are the people that will destroy our nation.
It’s time to crack some hippie skulls.

Kramer on August 14, 2006 at 3:19 PM

Screw the nutroots. They’re just inconvenient hemorrhoids or mosquitos.

This is so incredibly serious and the consequences will be dire.

Entelechy on August 14, 2006 at 3:21 PM

If you want to tell your story, you don’t kidnap the storyteller! So, I would guess the motivation is money.

Either way it’s like a member of the family was taken and my prayers go out in support of Steve’s family during this difficult time and for his safe return.

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on August 14, 2006 at 3:23 PM

I was wondering what Hamas would do to redirect attention from Hezbollah to them. In listening to Centanni’s reports from Gaza City, he, apparently, wondered the same thing.

My prayer for Centanni and his cameraman: Good Lord, please deliver them.

Aunt B on August 14, 2006 at 3:23 PM

It’s not for money, it’s to force the U.S. to negotiate, to swap and/or to enter the conflict.

Entelechy on August 14, 2006 at 3:28 PM

What beautiful people they are that hang out in the DemonCratic Underground. I never once heard a Democrat denounce or distance themselves from this festering hole. Here we like to at least dehuminze our sworn and known ememies but the Demoncrats there are dehuminizing fellow Americans. That is just plain sick!

Here is one quoted from a self proclaimed person with a heart. There are many more like this there to many to focus on.

Sadly, there’s no “infuriated” smilie to show my rage at what a ridiculous concept it is to call anyone connected with FOX News “reporters”.

But I’m not angry at you, you have a good heart and are just being too kind to people who helped sell the Iraq war lies and countless others. You mean well – it’s just that they don’t deserve that label.

Egfrow on August 14, 2006 at 3:31 PM

The left wing makes me sick. Their ignorance and hypocrisy know no bounds. If they like the towelheads, let them go live with them.. I would pay for it.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Steve Centanni, his producer and their families.

Maybe we ought to start abducting Muslims here?

lonewolf on August 14, 2006 at 3:31 PM

God bless Steve Centanni and his photographer and the entire Fox family. Please deliver them from the evil that has taken them.

MsUnderestimated on August 14, 2006 at 3:32 PM

We can’t abduct Muslims!!!!
They are doing the jobs that Americans won’t do.
Without them Jewish people wouldn’t be murdered and planes hijacked.

Kramer on August 14, 2006 at 3:38 PM

If our politicians and MSMers don’t immediately require their return, then I say just apply some “real” strikes to wipe these immoral, devil hating people off the face of the earth. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m done with anyone from the Left (I gave up on the uber Left a long time ago)!

sharinlite on August 14, 2006 at 3:45 PM

The left are certifiable…God bless Steve Centanni and his camera man

tele64 on August 14, 2006 at 3:45 PM

Here is a google Cache link that states Steve Centanni and William La Jeunesse are in Gaza. This may indicate that they are working together there.

Egfrow on August 14, 2006 at 3:49 PM

I’ll echo here what I wrote over at Ace’s site. My thoughts and prayers go out to Steve and his cameraman. I hope they are returned safely and soon.

And for the record AP, it hit a little closer to home for me too when I found out who it is. Shallow? Most likely. True? Absolutely.

Cary on August 14, 2006 at 3:51 PM

Wow… right outside the security building… just too convenient…

And then Muslims wonder why many of us are no longer amused by their antics….

Romeo13 on August 14, 2006 at 3:51 PM

God bless Steve Centanni and his camera man

My thoughts and prayers go out to Steve and his cameraman. I hope they are returned safely and soon.

My thoughts exactly.

High Desert Wanderer on August 14, 2006 at 3:57 PM

Centanni is a nice guy and does alot of tough reporting for Fox News. The fare left are idiots and don’t deserve our time here. They are an angry immature mob that have the same personal courage and character of the terrorists that kill innocent women and children without remorse. God bless Steve Centanni, his crew and their families.

d1carter on August 14, 2006 at 3:58 PM

The posters at DU make me wanna vomit. There were only one or two posters hoping they’d be ok. The rest are laughing it up and hoping for the worst. This is the true face of the democrats and liberals. For all the sh*t they spew on “peace” and “tolerance”, they are the worst offenders. Subhuman crap

darwin on August 14, 2006 at 3:59 PM

OMG! I cannot believe the sickness of those people at DU! One said “Who do I root for?” Does it get any sicker???

If it were a CNN reporter, do you think any of us would be saying such hateful things? Hell no.

Rightwingsparkle on August 14, 2006 at 4:00 PM

…but now Drudge is saying his sources indicate that a freelance camera man named Olaf Wiig was the other person obducted. If this is true then this guy doesn’t work for Fox News at all. The DU inmates are claiming these two aren’t even real journalists. That is just sick thinking!

Egfrow on August 14, 2006 at 4:12 PM

Of course they wouldn’t, RWS. Communist Notnews Nuttyworks is their best friend!

Bastards.

RH

RobertHuntingdon on August 14, 2006 at 4:17 PM

Centanni is one of the best reporters at Fox. Hope he comes out OK.

As for the DU, it is par for the course on the Left these days, with anyone dissenting from the Party line treated as subhuman. If Lieberman becomes Rape Gurney Joe, imagine in what contempt that hold a centrist. The left accuses Bush of creeping toward fascism when they are already there. Put the DU-ers in charge and there would be wholesale censorship and reeducation camps on day 1.

Clark1 on August 14, 2006 at 4:24 PM

Thankfully I can’t link to DU from, or just about any other left wing blog because of the web screening software here at work, but I will check out the comments later but I already know what to expect. What gets me is the hyprocicy of these people who claim to be so concerned about the fate of the human race and go on endless rants about how evil the conservatives and Republicans are and how unfeeling conservatives are. Would they feel the same if it was John Gibson?

LakeRuins on August 14, 2006 at 4:24 PM

I’m suprised you guys are surprised at DU’s reactions (for the mostpart).

This is the wingnut idea of “tolerance”. Always has been; always will be … NTG

notthisgirl on August 14, 2006 at 4:33 PM

WND has a few more details. They claim it was the work of Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade.

RedWinged Blackbird on August 14, 2006 at 4:36 PM

Correction: “Independent Palestinian gunmen affiliated with the group” whatever that means.

RedWinged Blackbird on August 14, 2006 at 4:41 PM

God protect Centanni and his camera crew and be with their families at this difficult time

Defector01 on August 14, 2006 at 4:47 PM

It is beyond me why any sane people visit the DU site. It is one thing for AP to check out the ‘enemy’ and then report on it, and it is quite something else to honor their site with increased traffic, just to confirm their “progressiveness”.

Please learn. And please, never, ever, refer to them as progressive, without putting the term in quotes. They are anything but!

We have one single major task – to defeat them on voting days. No matter how ’sick’ some of our own conservative ‘puppies’ are, consider the alternative!

Entelechy on August 14, 2006 at 4:49 PM

How did we get to the point where alot of Americans, yes, that’s right, I said Americans, think that Bush is more evil than hezbollah/hamas/etc.?

Ever since I retired from the Navy in ‘04 I’m able to pay more attention to the news. What is wrong with these people?Hoping that an American stays kidnapped in lebanon? Sick bastards. Cowardly, human waste. Disgusting.

What ever happened to pride in the USA? Patriotism? Have these creatures sold their souls, just so that their guy can get back into power in congress?

How do “journalists” interview the iranian president, who by his own admission, is actively seeking to “wipe Israel off the face of the earth” and see anything but contempt for that maniacal, psychopath? Well, he wants to exterminate the entire state of Israel, but, gee! he has an engineering degree!

So what if Fidel kills or permanently imprisons dissenters? Look at the health care down in Cuber!

What the hell happened?

rightside on August 14, 2006 at 5:11 PM

Well, I had just typed a nice, long post, only to have it disappear when I clicked the Submit Comment button. *sigh*

rightside on August 14, 2006 at 5:14 PM

I said a prayer for Steve Centanni and his family. I saw Jennifer Garner’s report but had no idea who it was. You are right AP, stupid as it is, it does ring home a little truer when it is someone you “know” God help him.

labwrs on August 14, 2006 at 5:26 PM

rightside,

the much quoted Golda Mair said “when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us”…we’ll have peace…

The BDS’d (Bush Derangement Syndrome’d) Left hates Bush more than it loves its country. It’s that simple and that sick!

Entelechy on August 14, 2006 at 5:40 PM

What the hell happened?

rightside on August 14, 2006 at 5:11 PM

The far left don’t really consider themselves citizens of the United States of America. They’re ‘citizens of the world’.

That’s why they want the UN to rule us. That’s why they want us to have a parlimentary system of government, and they desperately hope that government is at least socialistic, if not outright communist.

God protect Steve and his cameraman.

I tell ya, one of the casualties of the conflict with islamofascism is my compassion for the enemy. I just don’t care anymore. They have squandered any compassion I may have had for them as humans. The ‘innocents’ that have been collateral damage; most likely those are just future generations of jihadis. May God have mercy on their souls. Because allah damn sure won’t.

techno_barbarian on August 14, 2006 at 5:58 PM

I’ve had FOXnews on for nearly two hours, and haven’t seen or heard a mention of this. (Admittedly I haven’t been paying full attention until I saw this entry here, so might have missed it.)

Seems like they would talk about it a little….. IF it had been a reporter from just about any major organization, that would be the major topic on all the other news stations.

Too bad Steve is not a blonde girl…. Greta has been forced to report real news for the last few days; she really needs a missing blonde girl to talk about 24-7.

But God Bless Mr. Centanni and Mr Wiig etc.

LegendHasIt on August 14, 2006 at 6:18 PM

Kinda reminds me of when another newsperson was abducted.

THeDRiFTeR on August 14, 2006 at 6:45 PM

THeDRiFTeR,

Two wrongs = two wrongs.

Entelechy on August 14, 2006 at 6:57 PM

My prayers are with Steve and his cameraman. I wish I knew his name, that seems so impersonal. Don’t forget to DIGG this article.. It should get out how the loony left is viewing this tragedy.

RobertCSampson on August 14, 2006 at 6:58 PM

I’m also curious why Fox News is not saying more.

The thread at DU reminds me of one (I forget which site) where freaks were hoping for Laura Ingraham to die of breast CA. Elizabeth Edwards had to come on to chastise them. Absolutely disgusting.

mikeyboss on August 14, 2006 at 7:10 PM

Isn’t liberal compassion just wonderful? They feel for those poor terrorists whose civil liberties are being violated by the big bad US of A and the Zionists. God forbid they actually feel some compassion for someone who happens to work for Fox News. Conservatives (and anybody associated with them) are the only enemy in their book.

Rick on August 14, 2006 at 7:16 PM

Fox and the other media are probably not saying much because there are intense negotiations going on – the abductors might want some of the captured Hamas leadership back or something big like that…

Entelechy on August 14, 2006 at 7:18 PM

I gave Allah the wrong link for my post from above, so if you tried to click on it and got the 404 error, I apologize. The correct link is:

http://www.msunderestimated.com/2006/08/14/two-fox-news-journalists-kidnapped-in-gaza-breaking-news/

I also added a video bit of Jennifer Griffin reporting it on that post. MM has link to Media Bistro, who has an internal memo from Fox VP Moody to staff. Basically, “don’t talk about this!” I think that’s very wise.. .but I’m sure it’s very hard to do for people especially like Shepard Smith.

I can’t find this thread at DU. It’s only like the 3rd time I’ve ever gone to the website. Did they take it off?

Answer: Soros and the devil is making our people fail as humans…
May God Bless and keep and protect Centanni and his camera crew and be with their families at this difficult time and strike down those disgusting pigs and destroy what’s left of their miserable lives….

alyce on August 14, 2006 at 10:41 PM

May God Bless Steve Centanni and his family and kill those pigs and the rest of their miserable life….

alyce on August 14, 2006 at 10:46 PM

I was in 7th grade when JFK was murdered. I lived in a conservative community but we were all shocked and angered and we all grieved. Except for one boy, who whooped with joy at the news until he realized he was alone. Even in 7th grade it was considered psychopathic to act as that one boy did at the news of a tragedy.

I think that says it all about the moonbats who celebrate this kidnapping.

ChelleFiche on August 14, 2006 at 10:57 PM

Yup. And good for them for prioritizng properly. They’ll have all the story they could want once they get him back alive. Hopefully, that will be soon.

Pablo on August 15, 2006 at 12:45 AM

Centanni is the best and bravest at Fox News. This is unsettling in that it seems just an inch closer to being more personal.

This pathetic UN cease fire resolution in Lebanon has emboldened the animals.

They see us weakened within.

Prayers and blessings to Steve and crew. May God bless you and yours.

doingwhatican on August 15, 2006 at 4:01 AM

I couldn’t believe the response(s) on DU. If the people that wrote opinions are the norm for that site, how scary for rational people.
