RD, thanks for sharing the USSR-headline joke. Having lived under the sphere of that system (in another country) we had plenty of jokes in our repertoire. Here one of my all time favorites:

Leonid Brežnev walks over the red square to go to work and sees the sun shining in a friendly way upon him. He says "good morning sun". "Good morning comrade Brežnev, I hope you have a nice day today". In the afternoon, he walks out of the office "Good afternoon sun". The sun ignores him. "What happened to you today, you were so friendly this morning?". "You can kiss my a-s now, I'm in the West".

Seeing the headline confused me for about two seconds before I realized that they must've been Hezbollah rockets. How to tell? Simple: it's a variation of the way that liberal media cover political scandal/corruption stories ... i.e., if it's a Republican in trouble, they'll mention "Republican" prominently; if it's a donk, they won't mention the party affiliation.

Similarly, you can safely bet that if it were <em>Israeli</em> rockets landing in Lebanon, the lib media would make a point of saying so. Ergo, the absence of the term "Israeli" in connection with "rockets" automatically means that the bad guys must've fired them. Didn't even have to read the story to figure it out.

<strong>What Kind Of Cease Fire Is This, Anyway?...</strong>

Still firing rockets, and they refuse to hand over their weapons. Although they do "compromise" by not displaying them in public.

Hizbullah will not hand over its weapons to the Lebanese government but rather refrain from exhibiting them publicly...

It's all about the asinine concept of proportional response, which the Isrealis should never have paid attention to and will pay a price for later.

Not much in the way of proportional response in Hiroshima and Nagisaki for Pearl Harbor; it was just necessary to end the war once and for all.

I'll bet Michelle could do a nice parody piece on the 'proportional response' people through the history of warfare.

Yesterday morning I heard an ABC News reporter on the radio mention the death toll during the conflict as "... Israeli, over 700 Lebanese <strong>civilians</strong>". Every report talks about inanimate objects causing damage to Israel and/or IDF, but Israel killing civilians or blowing up residences, roads, bridges, hospitals, mosques, or other civilian infrastructure.

Then there's the "Schrödinger's Lebanese": Because Hezbos don't wear uniforms, so long as they are alive, uninjured, and free, they are neither civilian nor combatant, but instead a wave function. Firing Katyushas or longer-range Iranian missiles doesn't collapse the wave function. Only being killed, wounded, or captured, in a manner that can be identified as Israeli action, allows us to know that they are innocent civilians.

This is a brief pause in hostilities that will soon errupt because hizb'allah and the islamic world simply cannot help itself. They're ramping up, stoking themselves for the battle just ahead.

The flood of Lebanese coming back in so quickly are nothing more than human shields to make any response by Israel that much more of a propaganda opportunity when they respond to the inevitable ceasefire violation.

The sobering fact is that until we drop the pretense of fighting using 'civilized' warfare and instead fight to win while ignoring the whining of the 'world', the enemy has the upper hand.

The mightiest nations on the planet hobbled by standards of decency that the enemy has absolutely no intention of following. It is now a weakness we can no longer afford.

The longer we allow this, the more people, 'innocent' and otherwise, will have to eventually die. The enemy is telling us straight out, that anything less than an utter defeat will henceforth be regarded as a 'great victory'.

This has to stop.

Sorry for the long rant.

The Lebanon/Hezbollah tag team has also announced they achieved victory over the Israelis. This announcement coming as they lob in a few more unguided missiles into <strong>territories captured</strong> by Israel during the invasion.

Gee, that's odd. Hezbollah won, but Israel is leaving behind captured territories. What territory did Hezbollah capture while hiding behind women and children in Northern Lebanon?

The next time the Israelis invade, and it won't be long given the UN's lame and unenforceable cease fire agreement, there will be little doubt who the winner is.

When will the world community learn that these islamo-fascists are emboldened by any sign of weakness? I fear we are watching history repeat itself, the parallels are uncanny.

the headline is not erroneous, it's just not complete. i saw Shep's report last night on fox news about this and he made it clear several times that it was Hezbollah firing the rockets. he also made it very clear that Hezbollah would NOT let his crew film certain parts of south Beirut. He also said that Hezbollah was walking around with automatic weapons - so much for disarming...
