[...] Finally, two sources tell the AP that the hit last week on Iraq’s Sunni deputy PM was probably an inside job orchestrated by a relative who got caught waging jihad, was released at the deputy PM’s request, and then added to his security detail. Iraqi bigwigs have always had ties to terrorists: phone numbers of various officials were allegedly found stored on Zarqawi’s cell phone; Jill Carroll may well have been set up by someone connected to Adnan al-Dulaimi; al-Zawraa, the jihadi TV channel, is operated by Mishan al-Jabouri; and according to the AP article itself, two members of parliamentary speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani’s own security detail were caught planting IEDs last year. It’s sad that the deputy PM got hurt, but if you play in the sewer eventually you’re going to get some shinola on you. And like I say, it’s hard to build a state on shinola. digg_url = 'http://hotair.com/archives/2007/03/25/good-news-aq-in-iraq-using-kids-to-retrieve-weapons-during-battles/';digg_topic = 'political_opinion'; [...]

[...] Finally, 15 MPs from the southern Shiite Fadhila party have left Maliki’s ruling coalition and hooked up with Iyad Allawi’s secular Shiite party to form what they’re calling the Iraqi National Front. A Kurdish party and the Sunni Tawaafuq party are also part of the coalition; the Sunni party is led by Adnan al-Dulaimi, a guy who may very well have been involved in Jill Carroll’s kidnapping. The new Front is still well off the number of seats they’d need to install Allawi as PM (they’ve got 100 and need 139), but the transfer of those 15 seats is still very big because it makes Sadr’s MPs that much more important to Maliki to retain power. How can he move against the Mahdi Army now if he’s worried about the Sadrists walking out? Or is that Allawi’s plan — to force the government to fall and then make a play for the 39 seats he needs to take over? digg_url = 'http://hotair.com/archives/2007/03/07/iraq-arrested-jihadi-leads-sunni-jailbreak-mahdi-army-back-on-the-streets/';digg_topic = 'political_opinion'; [...]

True story. I was actually on Oprah once---indirectly. What happened is that a friend of mine, Collette about 6 years ago IM'd me from Quebec where she lives. She heard that I had started selling stuff on eBay and wanted to do the same. Well, I IM'd instructions to Collette and everything was going great with her first eBay auction until she tried to upload a photo of her gel candles which she was selling. For some reason she just couldn't get the hang of it. So I told her to e-mail me the pic and I would upload it to her auction (she gave me the password) from my free Spree.com site.

Anyway I also had a problem initially uploading it but was able to do it on the second try. All that happened is that her auction showed a line with the Spree.com name along with my user name.

I told this story to another friend, Jay, and about a week later Jay called me and told me that Collette's auction had been featured on the Oprah show of that day. I didn't believe Jay but, fortunately, they repeated Oprah later in the day so I taped it. Jay was right. It WAS Collette's auction that they featured (in a show about eBay) and I slowed my videotape down to where I could spot the error showing Spree.com and my username there on it.

Well, that is how I was indirectly on the Oprah show. I figured it was a one in a billion shot that Collette got her FIRST eBay auction featured on Oprah. Later, Collette found out from the bidder on her auction that he was a producer on the Oprah show.
