Truly moderate Muslims are, I think, in fear for their lives, literally, if they speak out in public.

Perhaps, but that hasn’t stopped them from speaking out in public in complaint against anyone who dares to question Islam or use terms like “Islamic fascism”. It’s as much (more?) their problem as it is ours, and they should shut up with their bellyaching about anything we do or say and clean up their own mess.

I’ve pretty much reached the point wherein I will not give “moderate” Islamists an ear unless they are willing to pronounce their renounce their religion. From what I’ve researched about this so-called religion it seems that the “radicals” are practicing it more perfectly than the moderates. Islam is as Islam does.

But a lot of people who are called moderates still believe in things like an international Jewish conspiracy, or the idea that the CIA was behind 9/11, or that sort of rubbish. These people may not be violent themselves, but they are the sea in which those who are violent swim–they make the violence possible.

The “moderates” I have encountered spend most of their time complaining about how they are being mistreated by America, and as quoted above, believing that the Bush Administration was somehow involved in the 9/11 plot. What’s really interesting to me is that the moderates I know are American citizens (2nd or 3rd generation), and they still feel that way. It’s almost as if, to some extent, they are justifying the behavior of the muslim extremists.

I actually believe that they’d hate for the U.S. and the West to win this war, no matter who’d be President.

Theories abound why it is so – mine is simple: they have no idea what it’s like to live in such a system. Theirs is a utopic imagination of those systems. They also are oblivious to the fact that the jihadis hate their lifestyle and their ideals most of all.

For our survival, in this country, we have only one weapon – defeat them at the voting booths. My personal hope remains that masses, naive as they are, are instinctively survivors first, and then idealists. One can’t chant “Utopia, Utopia” when one is dead!

Commando raids, which have the advantage of minimizing non-combatant casualties, and other precisely targeted strikes are simply much more reasonable and effective options in this environment. They of course take away some of the force multipliers enjoyed by modern armies and, ironically, make the fighting far less asymmetrical. Such tactics, too, may well mean more friendly casualties in the short term. They are, however, the only proven way of defeating insurgencies and terrorist groups.

This is, of course, all I’ve been saying since commenting on this blog. Can I assume that you agree with the above assessment, and if so, why are you all over my shit?

You know, as well as I, that I could link to dozens of websites, authored by white christian americans, that maintain the same bullshit. The overwhelming majority of muslims are “moderate”. You may be able to argue that their numbers are in retreat, but that may not be entirely their fault.

So maybe that IS what we should be calling them…

But the Left doesn’t hate fascism per se, it just hates the West for being richer and more powerful than the non-West. Poor fascists are poor first.

If this is “World War IV” why weren’t we better united to fight the fascism of “World War III”? Why doesn’t the left hate “fascists” like Castro, rather than loving them? It was fascism but it was fascism that redistributed or ostensibly redistributed the wealth. Well, so is this kind of “fascism”. This Muslim world is poor. The West is wealthy. Those are the moral parameters.

Maybe Bush should start calling them “Islamic plutocrats”, but I don’t think the Left will fall for that.

I just finished listening to Bush’s Press Conference on the cease fire in Lebanon. How sad that he just doesn’t understand that you can not win an asynchronous war using conventional tactics. You can’t win a war where you allow your enemy to find sanctuary and support from rogue nation states. You can not win a war where your enemy sets up and celebrates a terrorist state within a state as a victory. Then again, maybe he does but is afraid to admit it.

Hezbollah won this war. They know it because they are still in control of Lebanon and for the first time, an Arab state has defeated the mighty war machine of Israel. The Arab states now know that tactics used against Israel in Lebanon and against us in Iraq and Afghanistan is working. They found the way to bring the world powers to their knees.

We will soon see other celebrations in the Mid-East when we leave Iraq in the hands of a young democracy to take control of their own destiny as we did with Vietnam – and the end result will be the same. And soon, Afghanistan will follow because our fellow ‘allies’ will play into the hands of the Islamists and tire of the casualties inflicted upon them seeing no end in sight because they refuse to eliminate the sanctuaries from where the jihadists receive support and protection – Iran and Pakistan.

Am I discouraged? Yes.

Am I disgusted? Yes.

Am I mad? Damn right!

I’m mad because we are, or soon, will be in a defensive position in this war because our allies do not have the moral backbone to move us out of this asynchronous warfare and into one that we can win.

So, here we sit. Wringing our hands over shampoo and toothpastes instead of making our enemies wring their hands over seeing an F16 over their capitols. Here we sit, waiting for the next blow to fall upon us while our enemies sit in the catbird seat seeing their strategy is working and knowing their centers of support will not be attacked by their enemy. We have learned nothing from the ideological struggles of the last century. We hear that this is a different type of warfare that’s more than just military but include cultural warfare as well – yet we seem to be unable to act.

Until, like all tyrannies before it, they miscalculate the behavior of the free world and put our backs to the wall. When that happens, the Islamists using both violent and peaceful means to advance their agenda of world domination will wish their fathers never met their mothers.
