This effort can be fought without doing away with the Fourth Amendment or the concept of ownership of private property. It may not be fought to your satisfaction, but that’s how things work in America. Freedom is guaranteed to us… protection from terrorist attacks is not. Terrorists do not pose a grave risk to our country. They do not have the numbers or the capabilities to bring this country down. This isn’t an issue of destroying our freedoms temporarily in order to preserve the Union. Even when our freedoms have been taken away because the country was at risk, they were not restored. Remember that “temporary” and “small” Federal income tax levied to fight The War Between the States? Or how about the draft? So what makes you think that these new reductions in freedom will be reversed when they were undertaken with far less reluctance for a vastly more trivial reason?

4. Let’s attack our freedom!
5. If you care more about freedom than safety, you’re a terrorist sympathizer.

I was with you through step 2. I still support the use of military force to fight international terrorists. I will not support the destruction of American freedoms to do the same.
