Man, I haven’t been able to get anyone to mention that others were lying about the burning tires/dump as well… I found another photo of the burning dump/tires, this one by AFP and they called it the result of an Israeli strike on a Beirut neighborhood. Specifically, they say:

Black smoke engulfs the sky following an Israeli air raid on Beirut’s Kafarchima neighborhood.

So for the record we have some claiming it’s a downed Israeli jet, others claiming it’s the result of Israeli strikes… when in fact it’s neither. It’s Hezbollywood. For the photo most of you haven’t seen, scroll to the last photo in my post, here:

Thank God for the new media. Great job, Gang.

Right Winged,

Black smoke engulfs the sky following an Israeli air raid on Beirut’s Kafarchima neighborhood.

But, but, but we didn’t say the Israelis started the fire, we just said smoke engulfed the sky after an air raid! And we didn’t say exactly how long after the air raid. (Okay, so it was 1982.) But we didn’t lie about it at all!

These situations once again demonstrate to me that the American MSM can not be trusted, or is not smart enough, and perhaps because of the proud adherence to the “FAKE BUT ACCURATE” doctrine, that they WILL NOT do anything to give Americans the proper and honest reporting that we need to make the proper decisions to defeat the enemy.

Indeed, for the most part LIKE THE NY SLIMES HAS PROVEN the MSM IS the enemy.

The MSM agenda will get us killed. And that is a high price to pay for hating Pres Bush and for being PC.

GO, US ARMED FORCES, GO!

GO, ISRAEL, GO!

BTW-

THANKS AGAIN TO MICHELLE, MARK, ALLAHPUNDIT, AND BRYAN FOR ANOTHER FINE VENT!

ALWAYS BE PROUD OF WHAT YOU DO FOR US!

The False Dervish on August 10, 2006 at 9:11 AM

Wow!

I don’t know who’s worse, the terrorists or the MSM? These Media agencies are either grossly incompetent (which I seriously doubt), or they are shrewdly evil (the more likely probability). In any case this is a greater threat to our security IMO because it creates an ignorant populace who will go around thinking there is nothing to fear. This behavior will get us all killed. Thank God for people like the Hot Air team who are exposing these thugs for the cretins they truly are.

Every one seen this video of “Green Helmet Man” directing “news” footage?
http://www.youtube.c
You won’t get it more black on white than this.
(It also shows “Green Helmet Man” was doing the very same “rescueing” 10 years ago.

Photojournalism

- the only profession in which you can legally commit treason and capture it all on film.

These situations once again demonstrate to me that the American MSM can not be trusted, or is not smart enough,

It is my hope that the MSM and wire photographers are just not smart enough – in my opinion, they are duped by the likes of Hezbollah, etal because the journalists’ ideology gets in the way of objectivity and they therefore report unfairly and inaccurately. They don’t bother to check for accuracy as long as what they are reporting coincides with their ideological beliefs. I hope that makes sense.

Spoiled Teenagers Just want to Live in Peace!
Overheard somewhere: “Let me get this straight. You allow one of the largest terrorist organizations in the world to set up shop throughout your country. You permit them to completely take over the entire southern third of your country and you claim to have seen nothing. You allow the terrorists to build sophisticated, fortified bunkers and you did not see any heavy equipment building them. You allow the Hezbollah terrorists to move into many of your towns and villages, including the complete takeover of one of the largest neighborhoods in Beirut, where they proceed to build numerous, complex command and control centers, and you claim ignorance and innocence. You allow the terrorists to store weapons, bombs and rockets in your basements. You turn a blind eye when they carry arms into your restaurants, stores and buildings. Yet you call yourself an innocent civilian.Twenty thousand rockets and launchers are shipped into your country along with other military equipment by plane, truck and ship, and the government knew absolutely nothing. The Lebanese people knowingly allowed, aided and abbetted murderous terrorists to proliferate in their sovereign nation. Like spoiled teenagers, you now refuse to take any responsibility. If an attack emanates from your country, the entire country is responsible. That is how life works. Sometimes it is unfair. You sleep with dogs, you wake up with fleas. You sleep with missiles, you wake up dead.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself

Reality Check on August 10, 2006 at 10:22 AM

I love seeing the media busted…this isn’t incompetence or ‘oopsies’. This is downright political propaganda. Some of this stuff is so pathetic..you can almost hear the ‘rescue worker’ saying ‘don’t drop the hat; it’s my favorite hat’. Behind closed doors, editors are probably shrieking in rage that they’re getting busted…and talking points going out to photographers to be more careful when staging their next photo ops. They’ve probably been doing this for so long they’ve gotten sloppy. What they need is some former communists, or better yet Clinton Advisors to come in and advise them how to set up a good fake photo. Keep at ‘em Michelle and crew!

austinnelly on August 10, 2006 at 10:27 AM

Good job, Michelle. Keep up the pressure on these news outlets. I think it is beyond “oops” now. The only way this is going to brought out is hard evidence. The MSM just acknowledges the inaccuracies and moves on. They rarely cover each others problems because they know that they are doing the same thing.

Scorched_Earth on August 10, 2006 at 9:41 AM

The main stream media is not incompetent. Well, some are, but most are not.

So the latter option must be true.

Lawrence on August 10, 2006 at 11:39 AM

The MSM are not all incompetent but most are clueless. What they are as a group: ideologues, confident in their power to affect or bring down a government, preferrably a conservative one. They are actually convinced they are a branch of government and need to be reminded otherwise. We must fight their contrived reporting, be it headlines, text or pictures.

We should coin a new term for anything they do in a contrived way “it was reutered“.

The ‘retired’ Wallace raises Ahmadinejad to prominence and sanity:

Wallace dismissed the common perceptions of Ahmadinejad.

“He’s actually, in a strange way, he’s a rather attractive man, very smart, savvy, self-assured, good looking in a strange way,” Wallace said. “He’s very, very short but he’s comfortable in his own skin.”

What’s next? Dan Rather interviews Fidel Castro (again) in hiding, even if he’s dead already, and declares him a saint? Dan Rather interviews bin Laden and declares him a charismatic, not so ugly, not so tall, freedom-fighter?

Entelechy on August 10, 2006 at 12:10 PM

The MSM seem to think that they are immune from repercussions for their Anti-America propaganda during a time of War.
They evidently forget that they are not ensconsed in some cave in Pakistan surrounded by bodyguards or living in the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.
If I were one of these fifth columnists, I believe that I’d be praying that another 9/11 or worse doesn’t occur. These dipshits think this is another Vietnam. They couldn’t be more wrong.

Thanks for what you do it means a lot!!

Excellent (and devastating) summary of media incompetence … or worse.

After all, the media is not neutral in this fights as Bill Keller tells us, and actions always speak louder than words.

Is it any wonder the the stock of the NYTimes is down 60% since 2001 and continues its slide?

thirteen28 on August 10, 2006 at 1:45 PM

Freedom of the press will be the undoing of our freedom, our country and our existence itself, unless those in the MSM who coddle to our known enemies are held accountable for their treasonous conduct …. and forthwith!

fogw on August 10, 2006 at 2:57 PM

As a Marine Corps combat photographer in Viet Nam one of the first things I learned was that combat does not lend itself to great picture taking. Sticking your head up & composing the best possible shot leads to a very brief career. 90% or more of all photos are ‘composed’, ‘staged’, or back then the lab tech would deliver great photos from sloppy photos. Now they use Photoshop. This is NOT fraud, dishonesty or anything else unseemly. The way it is handled may be all of the above though. Adding a little extra smoke is not a crime, doing it so poorly is.
All Marine photographers (& many others) know that the photo of the flag raising at IwoJima was a ‘re-enactment’ and had nothing to do with reality. That does not make it dishonest. It was a great photo. The problem we’re seeing now is not photographers doing a little enhancement to make good pictures better. It is fraud in the captions, and in the showing of only one side (the enemy side) in a sleazy attempt to draw emotional condemnations rather than doing news photography.

What do Hezbollah and the Dem’s have in commom? The willing accomplices in the MSM. Should we be at all surprised?

I don’t see them covering the destruction in Israel this way?

Traitors all of them. Time to round them up and put them in camps.

Hmmmm. Such compliments. I wonder, did Wallace interview Ahmadinejad over a candle light dinner, and did Wallace “slip into something more comfortable” journalistically speaking, of course?

THE COMMON PRECEPTIONS THAT WE HAVE ON AHMADINEJAD ARE BASED UPON THE HITLERESQUE SPEECHES BY AHMADINEJAD.

The False Dervish on August 10, 2006 at 7:04 PM

Sometimes Michelle’s vents make me laugh; sometimes they make me mad; but they always make me think. After watching this one, I’m not sure whether to laugh or spit.

Since Vietnam, we’ve watched our own media devolve from the old standard of Ernie Pyle’s unashamed support of our side to “neutralism,” and now increasingly they’re just flat-out on the other side. Journalistic standards now seem to be variations of “Fake, but acccurate,” “It might be true,” and now they’re just staging it and faking it to demoralize us and energize our enemies.

It’s like what Ripley said to Burke in the movie, “Aliens:”

“I don’t know which is worse; you don’t see them f***ing each other over for a percentage.”

It’s hard enough to win this fight when only the Republicans seem to want to stop the terrorists while the donkey party is content to focus on stopping the Republicans … so when our own media starts cheerleading for the enemy, I have to wonder whether we’re going to end up with a collective failure of nerve at some point.

Spurius Ligustinus on August 10, 2006 at 7:52 PM

Make no mistake, AHMADINEJAD has only one goal, to destroy Israel and America. This man is as evil as they come.

NO! There’s no difference between them at all..
They both want U.S and Israel Dead.
I played with some software and placed AHMADINEJAD and HITLER’S picture and Morphed them together and it looks just as evil when watching them morph like brothers.
