Video: Ace of Spades talks Reutersgate on Fox News (Update: New footage added)

posted at 12:57 pm on August 8, 2006 by Allahpundit
Send to a Friend | printer-friendly

I bet Patterico five bucks last night that he wouldn’t have the stones to go through with it.

So there’s another guy I owe money to.

And then there were two. Just me and Treacher.

I won’t blink, Jim.

I will. not. blink.

Update: How could I forget Rusty?

He’ll cave, though. I can feel it. All in due time…

Update: Charles Johnson was also on Fox News briefly today. Kim from Musing Minds has the video.

Update: Rusty calls Ace a “George Lucas lookalike,” which isn’t the worst thing to be for an aspiring screenwriter, and says he declined an invitation to appear on the same program.

You’ll never outlast me, Russ. Never.

Update: Fox showed some new footage of Ace tonight at around 7:30 so I went ahead and spliced it into the clip. Enjoy the close-up.

I didn’t know Ace was black!

Karol on August 8, 2006 at 1:06 PM

Or an Asian woman!

frankj on August 8, 2006 at 1:14 PM

Hey, Rusty’s still closeted too, dude.

bamapachyderm on August 8, 2006 at 1:14 PM

I have to admit: Ace in “real life” is twice as lucid but only half as gay as I imagined him.

Blacksheep on August 8, 2006 at 1:18 PM

Yeah, he’s pretty mellow. His geek persona is largely an act.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 1:19 PM

He’s disappointingly normal. I was hoping he’d look like an 80’s hairband throwback.

DaveS on August 8, 2006 at 1:22 PM

I had him pegged as a pale, malnourished type. LOL

bamapachyderm on August 8, 2006 at 1:31 PM

He is pretty malnourished.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 1:32 PM

(Like I’m one to talk.)

bamapachyderm on August 8, 2006 at 1:32 PM

Heh. Well, you know, it’s a side-effect of the lifestyle.

bamapachyderm on August 8, 2006 at 1:33 PM

And never say never, Allah. You’ll blink. You are THATCLOSE to blinking, running with Michelle as you do.

bamapachyderm on August 8, 2006 at 1:34 PM

Santa knows who you are. I’m just sayin’.

Pablo on August 8, 2006 at 1:36 PM

You are THATCLOSE to blinking, running with Michelle as you do.

That’s actually true. Michelle warned me before I signed up that she might have to reveal my name if a particularly high-profile media outlet was offering coverage and wanted to know it. I very reluctantly agreed. Hasn’t happened (yet), though.

If my contract gets renewed, I think I’m going to insist on an anonymity clause.

It’s weird: Ace is comfortable with his face being out there but less so his name, and I’m just the opposite.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 1:40 PM

That’s easy for you to say, Mr. Jones.

Pablo on August 8, 2006 at 1:46 PM

Allah, you’d be swamped with offers from the ladies if you went on TV.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on August 8, 2006 at 1:52 PM

Mwahaha. Now that’s funny.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 1:53 PM

If Allah ever reveals himself-please give us advanced warning..isn’t that supposed to signal the end of the world or something like that?

WriterMom on August 8, 2006 at 1:53 PM

Typical. The man sits there passing judgment all day long on the merits of blonde liberal women over conservatives but won’t show his own face so we can do some lib/con comparison shopping ourselves. Because it’s about the merits!!

Seriously, Ace done good, although I’m a little surprised they took him on without revealing his name. I never know what to take seriously with him–i.e. did he really pop sleeping pills, energy drinks and *beer* before going on?!? Aieeee!

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 1:53 PM

You’re a freak, Allah. You dudes are all weird with the anonymity thing. It cracks me up.
I mean in Rusty’s case, working in Idiotaria, yeah.

bamapachyderm on August 8, 2006 at 1:53 PM

I’ve got to agree with Anwyn on that point, Allah. Except for the merits of liberal women over conservatives, anyway. I will not concede that to angry lefty wimmen.

bamapachyderm on August 8, 2006 at 1:56 PM

I never know what to take seriously with him–i.e. did he really pop sleeping pills, energy drinks and *beer* before going on?!?

Oh, I think he’s on the level about that. It’s his “reclusive geek” persona that he plays up a bit.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 1:56 PM

I will not concede that to angry lefty wimmen.

…of which I am not one, just to make clear. :)

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 1:59 PM

I’ve got to agree with Anwyn on that point, Allah.

You’re not missing anything, I promise. Heh.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 2:00 PM

Man! He looks like a dork! ;-)

MCPO Airdale on August 8, 2006 at 2:05 PM

Be nice…

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 2:05 PM

Ace and Allah: Habitual denigration of self’s personal attractions? Check. Fear of viewing in the public eye? check. …

Yaknow, Allah, even if every word you said about your looks was true, women do go for *brains.*

Besides, you never accept the word of the principal. Woman’s judgment is called for; we’ll accept biased judgment; Michelle, what say you?

Maybe she said it before, but I can’t go combing all the comments at this moment …

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 2:06 PM

It’s weird: Ace is comfortable with his face being out there but less so his name, and I’m just the opposite.

Why’s that? Were you burned by acid, or something?

DaveS on August 8, 2006 at 2:09 PM

Michelle, what say you?

She’s biased. What’s she going to say? “He’s a dog”?

By the way, you guys know that Ace and I saw “Brokeback Mountain” together, don’t you?

No, I’m not joking.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 2:11 PM

If so, he’d wear a mask and be able to defeat a Spanish wizard at the sword… :)

I don’t quite understand what it is ladies see in guys in the first place, but I’m not complaining. As long as one of them one day finds enough of that mysterious “Y-factor” in me… :)

RH

RobertHuntingdon on August 8, 2006 at 2:15 PM

Same thing men see in women when they get past the sex … oh wait.

Well anyway, it’s brains, personality, looks, sense of humor. Not necessarily in that order. Depending in what quantity the man possesses each.

Now you know. Secrets of the Millenium Revealed.

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 2:20 PM

You’re not missing anything, I promise. Heh.

Remember, Allah…it’s all about the sense of humor.

And the car.

Slublog on August 8, 2006 at 2:23 PM

And the “confidence,” Slu.

Don’t forget the “confidence.”

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 2:25 PM

Confidence goes under personality. It informs the rest of it. Also technically sense of humor should go under personality, but it is far more important in its own right than confidence is in its own.

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 2:27 PM

angry lefty wimmen

Ha..does “womyn” offend them, too? I thought that was as nuts as it got…

Michelle is gorgeous and smart and takes no prisoners…It must drive Mamma Moonbat bonkers that she is also slim and fashionable. And I mean all this in a purely heterosexual, “womyn” complementing fellow warrior “womyn” kind of way….

As for Allah-I think you should throw us a few bones…

WriterMom on August 8, 2006 at 2:32 PM

By the way, a tip for married guys: Don’t make fun of your own appearance. Your wife will take it as an insult to her.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on August 8, 2006 at 2:44 PM

Why’s that? Were you burned by acid, or something?

DaveS on August 8, 2006 at 2:09 PM

HA!
Burned-by-acid freak! See, all that hiding out makes us think you’re Quasimodo or that Mask dude or something. How’s that make ya feel? ;-)

/goading

bamapachyderm on August 8, 2006 at 2:44 PM

Attila is SO right about that one, guys.

bamapachyderm on August 8, 2006 at 2:46 PM

Burned-by-acid freak! See, all that hiding out makes us think you’re Quasimodo or that Mask dude or something.

Nah, no disfigurement, just average. Which is shameful enough!

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 2:50 PM

Don’t forget the “confidence.”

But not too much confidence, because then you’re just tagged as arrogant.

Haven’t worried about that stuff in eight years.

Marriage rules.

Slublog on August 8, 2006 at 3:11 PM

Anyway…what kind of acid?

Slublog on August 8, 2006 at 3:14 PM

Ace have heap big Daryl Hall I Love the 80’s hair.

The Ugly American on August 8, 2006 at 3:15 PM

Nah, no disfigurement, just average. Which is shameful enough!

Man, I’m glad I made it through to my current age before finding out that average looks are shameful!!

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 3:26 PM

Allah is a hottie, I should totally post pictures.

Karol on August 8, 2006 at 3:28 PM

Bwaha. I knew somebody had said it, even if it wasn’t Michelle.

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 3:34 PM

I knew somebody had said it, even if it wasn’t Michelle.

I was wondering before who was going to show up here first to pay me the pity compliment: Karol or the boss?

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 3:35 PM

Oh shut up.

Karol on August 8, 2006 at 3:37 PM

Cry, baby, cry, make your momma sigh.

Waah, Allah, really. You’re gonna have to put up or shut up. ;) Something about protesting too much.

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 3:38 PM

Hey, Rusty’s still closeted too, dude.

Read that comment, and for a moment I thought I’d missed the point of the post altogether. Wrong closet.

High Desert Wanderer on August 8, 2006 at 3:42 PM

Oh and I should let everyone know that a huge (as in traffic, not body mass) blogger chick, who lots of men think is hot, totally liked Allah (after meeting him, mind you, not just after reading him) and he disssssssed her.

Karol on August 8, 2006 at 3:44 PM

Allah dissed Wonkette?

Slublog on August 8, 2006 at 3:50 PM

Karol, clearly I need to begin visiting your site regularly for the dish–I mean, the helpful political commentary. :)

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 3:51 PM

Ace looks pretty much like his avatar on the Hoist the Black Flag posts. Allah, all you gotta do is have someone draw you an avatar. Something besides the Old White Haired Guy with the long beard.

I vote for something like the gals drawn by Chris Muir (Day by Day Cartoons). I always thought the Almighty would look great in a bikini. Kind of like Pam Anderson without the tattoos. After, if you are the Almighty, why not have a great body, and a “sterling personality”.

Get to work Allah. Our expectations are high.

Subsunk on August 8, 2006 at 3:53 PM

By the way, you guys know that Ace and I saw “Brokeback Mountain” together, don’t you?

No, I’m not joking.

And since Allah mentioned it, it’s true, they did, I sat between them. You can also read about their first meeting. I’m not link-whoring, I swear, just needling Allah a little.

Karol on August 8, 2006 at 4:05 PM

Now that’s the kind of dish–political commentary!! I was looking for.

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 4:15 PM

They saw Brokeback together?

Maybe you should change the smiley face over Ace’s face to a big blue dot.

John on August 8, 2006 at 4:31 PM

We’re going to have a public unmasking for Allahpundit like they had for Spiderman last month. And yes, I am a huge nerd.

Number 2 on August 8, 2006 at 4:42 PM

I only read Allah for the articles.

(Yes, and I’m a girl, too)

Fly_in_Ointment on August 8, 2006 at 4:44 PM

Well, at least they could have hoisted the black flag in the background while he was mumbling. Anyway I’m not surprised about Allah shying away from the lights. I mean if I had been dragged through all the shit he went through with the web site, wow. I wouldn’t even be blogging.

Allah, you are one of a kind. And I hope for the midterms, we get to see some of that unbelievable election coverage that you famously provided us at your old site.

Rustyw on August 8, 2006 at 5:59 PM

Allah, the Phantom of the Bloggera

Some day we’ll attend the YearlyHotAir Convention. I don’t care if Allah shows up with a frog-, prince- or his real head on his shoulders, so long as he brings his brilliance.

I like the mystery man to ramain so. We couldn’t have all this fun, otherwise.

Karol, you are in big trouble :)

On matters of beauty, inside and out, male or female - people generally meet by moonlight, marry by candlelight and live by daylight. It’s the latter which matters - whom are we left with, after the honeymoon.

Entelechy on August 8, 2006 at 6:27 PM

Allah, if you ever change your mind, and if you are as ‘ugly’ as you claim you are, Reuters, for a fee, can doctor the picture/s, ahead of publishing :)

Entelechy on August 8, 2006 at 6:43 PM

Two words: Kevin Smith.

dorkafork on August 8, 2006 at 7:00 PM

Anyway I’m not surprised about Allah shying away from the lights. I mean if I had been dragged through all the shit he went through with the web site, wow. I wouldn’t even be blogging.

Now that’s something I’d like to know more about. I came late to the whole blog adventure and never heard of Allahpundit until the advent of this site. Where can I find the Cliffs Notes version?

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 7:13 PM

Where can I find the Cliffs Notes version?

Here.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 7:19 PM

Sometimes I forget just how extensive the Wiki really is. :) Thanks.

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 7:29 PM

Anwyn,

It is a state secret. But, I can tell you this, Allah works in mysterious ways, not to be confused with Allah have another beer or Allah get up right now or Allah let this stick go.

Rustyw on August 8, 2006 at 7:30 PM

Well that tells us about the old site but it doesn’t say why you abandoned it… is there a short version of that anywhere?

RH

RobertHuntingdon on August 8, 2006 at 7:59 PM

Now we are getting to the meat of it.

Rustyw on August 8, 2006 at 8:01 PM

Heh, Ace protecting his name, Allah and Rusty their names and their real appearances…it’s like the Justice League members hiding their true identities. Apparently, George Lucas is the new Clark Kent.

So, which one of you is Green Lantern? He was always my favorite.

Bellicose Muse on August 8, 2006 at 9:21 PM

This is how I imagine Allah:

http://mensa.akk.uni-karlsruhe.de/Hungry.gif

Notice the “mensa” in the url. Heh.

Rightwingsparkle on August 8, 2006 at 9:51 PM

Reading through these comments, you could almost get the impression that a lot of people like Allah.

Patterico on August 8, 2006 at 9:58 PM

They like who they think Allah is.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 9:59 PM

Hah. On that note, I *would* establish a thread on my blog about the deceptiveness of internet relationships, except that I will be camping for the next few days and couldn’t participate so what the hell fun would that be? Maybe when I get back, if anybody’s (still) interested.

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 10:14 PM

For the record, I’m really hot.

No modest denials here. I was blessed. Is that a bad thing?

DON’T HATE ME BECAUSE I’M BEAUTIFUL!

Jeff G on August 8, 2006 at 10:25 PM

Well at least most of the time most of us like him… just those of us who weren’t around back then are curious about his “retirement”…

RH

RobertHuntingdon on August 8, 2006 at 10:26 PM

They like who they think Allah is.

Cynical and depressive notwithstanding, as one of “they” mentioned, I think a better way to put it is that a bunch of us like the *aspect* of Allah that is showed in this blog, admittedly a fairly narrow focus, and that based on that a bunch of us are *curious* as to the rest of Allah. And also a few really insulted brunettes. Unless you’re Karol and got to be the hetero-insurance at a Brokeback showing.

For the record, I’m really hot.

No modest denials here. I was blessed. Is that a bad thing?

DON’T HATE ME BECAUSE I’M BEAUTIFUL!

Get him, Jeff. :)

Anwyn on August 8, 2006 at 10:33 PM

OK, let me ask: is there some sort of pre-HA Allah archive out there?

Kid from Brooklyn on August 8, 2006 at 10:37 PM

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://allahpundit.com/

RobertHuntingdon on August 8, 2006 at 11:00 PM

Well anyway, it’s brains, personality, looks, sense of humor. Not necessarily in that order.

Most importantly, it has nothing to do with money.

Jim Treacher on August 8, 2006 at 11:18 PM

Allah is the bloggers version of Eyore. (I don’t know why I think of cartoons when I think of Allah)and I do think about you…;-)

Eyore type: “Nobody loves me for who I am.” “Girls only want hot guys with money.” “Women are ****** I don’t know why I try.”

Rightwingsparkle on August 9, 2006 at 12:25 AM

Treacher, I’ll take that bait … speaking for myself, I can make a decent living, married or single. Looking a guy, it’s less about money, amount, and more about living, making a decent one. Helps if he’s willing to support the fam while little ones are young enough that I want to stay home with them. :)

Rightwingsparkle … hahahaa. But look at the attention it’s getting him … poor Bryan, verifiably cute, talented blogger, extra cool points with me because of the Air Force thing … and a bunch of us all over Allah to out himself. It’s an unfair world. :)

Anwyn on August 9, 2006 at 12:35 AM

Looking a guy,

Looking *at* a guy, that is.

And add “playing the guitar” to Bryan’s attribute list. :)

Anwyn on August 9, 2006 at 12:37 AM

Anwyn, and Bryan also worked for NASA.

Above all, he knows what Allah looks like, and has no need for insecurity :)

Entelechy on August 9, 2006 at 1:34 AM

They like who they think Allah is.

That’s a fact.

I’m disappointed at Ace. He’s not disfigured, he wasn’t wearing a bandana (I was thinking something black) and he didn’t swear. Not once. I don’t know where to have him. He reminded me of … a director I’m afraid to mention :)

I only read Allah for the articles.

This will border on sappy, but I need to say it once, and then deny it forever: I love good writing, anything; speeches, books, graffiti; Allah is one of the best writers I’ve ever read. I don’t know jack about the person, but the ability to write the way Allah does is a gift. I think I get why Malkin went through the trouble of digging Allah out of Rehab and hosing ‘em off.

Wait, what am I doing here? I need to go insult Ace. Pirate? Bah! … Let me borrow that hose …
