ONE WEEK BEFORE ZAWAHIRI ANNOUNCES THE MERGER OF AQ WITH AN EGYPTIAN TERROR GROUP!!!
Seriously, it’s worth keeping an eye on. Sonorous bromides about the dangers of profiling are all well and good, but when even the Guardian thinks this is newsworthy, you know no one’s fooling anyone anymore.
Update: Like I said, worth keeping an eye on.

If they weren’t worried they wouldn’t be looking for them, now would they?
How’s that go again? “Don’t make me draw rolled eyes,…”

Broad strata again?!? ROFL…
Innies and outies?
Toilet paper under, or on top of the roll?
Squeezing toothpaste from top or middle of tube?

Great…just great.
US security blows it again.

When are we going to wake up???

wonder why no names have been disclosed, at least as far as I can see.
BillLalor on August 8, 2006 at 12:13 PM
There are names in the ABC link.

We need to stop letting anyone come here on student visas.
Or for any other reason for that matter.
Lets fill those seats with U.S. students.
You would think we would learn.
If my house were to get ransacked a few times by people I let in, I would stop inviting people in altogether.
Seems like a no-brainer to me.
But then I have a conservative mind and can’t necessarily think with the proper nuance.

Nice that they are all kids. Whoa, and how many Mohameds?Probably indoctrinated to hate the US since birth. Still too young to have their own ideas, or critically think about the ones they’ve been fed.
Why do we even have visas during a time of war? It’s time for a nationwide lockdown…the borders, “student” visas from questionable countries, “work” visas from questionable countries…this is BS. C’mon Americans! Shut the hell up about global warming and start thinking about how warm the globe will be once these insane fanatics gets nukes!
AAARRRRRGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Egyptians studying at Montana State arriving there via New York City – right around the September 11 anniversary – right after AQ and an Egyptian terror group join forces – lost in NYC. I think civil liberties can fly out the window on this one. Deal with the ACLU later.
As for the ACLU, has anybody been keeping tabs on the leftist nonsense going on over there? http://www.aclu.org/crimjustice/relatedinformation_press_releases.html

We must all be vigilant, hoping that the FBI/CIA et all are, not only on the 5th anniversary of 9/11/01 coming up, but also this, from the WSJ op-ed of today:
These are very precarious times. All the leftie balderdash might mean zip by Nov. 2006.

From the ABC News link:
I’m guessing their status has been changed because they never showed up for their classes at Montana State University. And, of course they’re wanted for questioning,… they frikkin’ disappeared after entering the country.
They think that they’re on the “Eastern Seaboard?” Well F*** me running, that’s a pretty huge area. Does DC count in that area?
At least the government has their names! (Drawing rolled eyes here.) Like that’s going to do any good. If they’re here to do harm I’m sure they’re going to have other identification papers with different names/DOBs.
When is the government, especially the Congress/Senate, Department of Homeland Security, and ICE going to wake up? They need to put a stop to student visas during wartime?
Me-thinks someone is sleeping at the helm again. Unfortunately it’s going to take the death of more Americans to jolt them awake.

Duh, don’t suppose the FBI would be intelligent enough to check out the local mosques – oh, no, that would be profiling and islamophobic.
docdave on August 8, 2006 at 1:23 PM
Next question – why are we admitting more moslems when we should be deporting or incarcerating the ones that are aleady here. That sure worked in WWII.
docdave on August 8, 2006 at 1:24 PM
All 11 Egyptians are between the age of 18-22!!!
Entelechy on August 8, 2006 at 1:26 PM
You are all wrong! The innocent 11 Egyptian youths were kidnapped byy karl Rove! They are, as I type, being whisked away to Gitonimo to suffer cruel and dehumizing torture!
At least thats how I expect KOS to report this.
Considering I live next to the worlds largest Naval Base, I am sure as hell keeping my eyes open. Considering the normal targets these pricks pick though, we should be keeping an eye on Nurseries, Hospitals or other places where inncocent civilians congragate.

11 Egyptians go missing right before the September 11 5 year anniversary. 11 on the 11th day. You know how big they are on numbers.
Rick on August 8, 2006 at 1:42 PM
docdave, I’m with you. Time for WWII tactics. I don’t give a rat’s ass about civil liberties (the way the ACLU thinks we should have them) when the alternative is NO LIBERTIES.
If we let these nazis win, by using our PC idiocy, then we deserve to wear burqas and live in the seventh century. Buh bye blogs, iPods, freedom of speech, religion, the right to bear arms…when are we going to get some REAL fortitude in this war for survival??
Maybe a Gingrich/North ‘08 election is the way to go…if we last that long.
NTWR on August 8, 2006 at 1:45 PM
Anybody think about checking Atlantic City? They may be partying it up before their big day (kind of like the last batch we lost track of in 2001).

This is insane. I smell another Medal of Freedom for someone at the FBI or Homeland Security.
honora on August 8, 2006 at 2:13 PM
“Insane”? Really?
Not even a shade of worry? Eleven young Arab men here on a visa disappear — in New York City?
Not even worth a “heads up”?
Allahpundit on August 8, 2006 at 2:14 PM
It’s insane that this could happen, that security is so lax.
Jesus, someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Ahhhhhhh. Gotcha.
My apologies. That was my knee jerking.

I always get off the plane in New York on my way to Montana.
Rent from Avis and drive the rest of the way. Just a hop, skip, and a jump.
Guys and gals, quit your profiling!

Three Egyptian students in custody; 8 remain missing
Group of 11 didn’t show up at school in Montana

The students would have had to register fingerprints on a machine such as this one at JFK International Airport.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Three of the 11 Egyptian students who failed to show up at a Montana university last month were taken into custody Wednesday.
The FBI on Saturday issued a nationwide alert to law enforcement agencies. Included were the students’ names, ages, passport numbers and photographs.
“At the present time there are no known associations to any terrorist groups. Approach with caution,” the lookout bulletin said. (Watch Homeland Security work on the mystery — 2:22)
Two were found in New Jersey, according to two law enforcement officials, one of whom said they turned themselves in to authorities. No further information was available.
Eslam Ibrahim Mohamed El-Dessouki, 21, was arrested without incident about 11 a.m. (noon ET) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, according to a statement from FBI Special Agent Richard Kolko.
“El-Dessouki was taken into custody on an administrative immigration violation as an out-of-status student,” Kolko said.
El-Dessouki “was located through source information,” a federal law enforcement official said.
There was no indication what El-Dessouki was doing in Minnesota, but he was not visiting relatives, the official said.
“Preliminary investigation has not identified any credible or imminent threat posed by El-Dessouki or the other missing Egyptian students,” Kolko said.
The search continues for the eight remaining Egyptian students, authorities said.
Federal authorities began thoroughly tracking international students after learning that one of the 9/11 hijackers was in the country on an expired student visa.
FBI and immigration officials confirmed there’s no evidence pointing to criminal activity or a terrorist threat. However, The Associated Press quoted a law enforcement official as saying that the students could be sent home when found because they violated the terms of their visas.
They were part of an all-male group of 17 students that landed July 29 at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. Six of them arrived later at Montana State University as part of an exchange program; the other 11 did not, prompting school officials to contact the government.
A source with knowledge of the investigation said the men, who range in age from 17 to 22, may be staying in New York, visiting relatives and trying to find jobs.
“We have run their names through the wringer,” a Department of Homeland Security official said.
U.S. authorities are working with foreign intelligence agencies to make sure there is nothing suspicious in the students’ backgrounds, federal sources said. Those sources added that 20 students applied for student visas to go to Montana State, but three applicants were denied.
“We do want to talk to them. But at this point there’s no reason to believe they pose any criminal or terrorist threat,” said Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Julie Myers, who heads Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Besides El-Dessouki, the remaining students were identified as:
• El Sayed Ahmed Elsayed Ibrahim, 20
• Alaa Abd El Fattah Ali El Bahnasawi, 20
• Mohamed Ragab Mohamed Abd Alla, 22
• Ahmed Refaat Saad El Moghazi El Laket, 19
• Ahmed Mohamed Mohamed Abou El Ela, 21
• Mohamed Ibrahim Elsayed El Moghazy, 20
• Ebrahim Mabrouk Moustafa Abdou, 22
• Moustafa Wagdy Moustafa El Gafary, 18
• Mohamed Saleh Ahmed Maray, 20
• Mohamed Ibrahim Fouaad El Shenawy, 17
