Ned Lamont’s “video blog”

Those aren’t scare quotes. I’m not being arch or sarcastic in calling it that. It’s a direct quotation, straight from the Freshmaker’s mouth.

The same Freshmaker who doesn’t “know anything about the blogs.”

Well done, SeeDubya. I’m pretty sure there’s a blog merit badge for stuff like this; I want to be at the ceremony when you get yours.

Two things to watch for here. One: the nutroots insists their opposition to Lieberman isn’t about the war, it’s about his supposed total betrayal of the Democratic Party. Kos hits that point whenever he’s on one of the talk shows, presumably to ensure that he doesn’t burn any bridges with pro-war Democratic politicians. Hamsher herself, I believe, has said the reason she opposes Liebs is his insufficiently obstructionist position on Bush’s judicial nominees, not his position on Iraq.

So which subject did they choose for little Neddy’s first-ever vlog extravaganza? Right.

Two: who’s Lamont smiling at off-camera at the very beginning of the clip?

It could be anyone, I suppose. Anyone in the world.

I guess we’ll never know.

After you’re done with this, check out Dan Riehl fighting fire with fire. Dumb, but hilarious.

Update: Here’s something almost as mysterious as how the word “blog” found itself in Lamont’s mouth: the photo of sweet Jane directing him during the filming of a campaign spot — which, wouldn’t you know it, looks like it might be this very same “video blog” promo — has disappeared from Flickr.

Good thing the boss saved the thumbnail, huh?

Probably also a good thing that I’ve downloaded the clip, in case it mysteriously disappears from YouTube, too.

Update: And as if all that’s not enough, the WashTimes reports this morning that Neddy the Wal-Mart dragonslayer owns $31,000 of stock in the company. All of which he’ll no doubt quickly divest himself of, as quickly as he shed that membership in a racially-restricted country club when it too became “inconvenient.”

Only then. Not before.

How deep does the hypocrisy run here? Very.

Update: Who knows? Maybe there’s some sort of Chinese wall within the Lamont campaign that prevents the big cheese from knowing about the massive Internet outreach his staffers engage in.

Update: No answer yet from the Lieberman campaign about the “LieberYouth” slur, either. I’ll try to get to the bottom of that today.

Update: I’m going to give you a quote and you’re going to guess which party the speaker belongs to:

Immigration is a red meat issue. You’ve got all these crackers down in Southern Cal – ah, where is it, San Diego, taking on the governor. Even the governor was shocked.

Answer here.

Update: Tom Maguire offers a two-step plan for the Lamont team. Hint: step one involves a bus.

What is so incriminating about that photo that is not also incriminating in all of the other photos at that guy’s flickr page? Almost every one on the first page shows Ned hangin’ out with the blackface girl…

Did I miss something?

The specific thing one of the “crackers” said that got Arnold’s panties bunched was to describe it as an “invasion.” Arnold called this “prejudice.”

Question: How do you download a video from youtube?

Back to the business at hand….

How ironic that the left violates its own strictures against racially and ethnically based “hate speech.” Isn’t what “The Hamster” did a “hate crime?”

I can just imagine an RNC commercial being televised starting next month with a morphing of the real photo into the Hamsher photoshopped one and the voice over saying something like this:

“The Democrats claim to be against racisims and hate speech. Yet watch how they treated one of their own, 3 term Senator Joe Lieberman (D), in August’s primary. They are so filled with hatred that they willingly turn on their own.

Vote Repubican in November, and keep these crazy, hate-filled people out of power.”

What is it with all you dumb honkeys and crackers getting your panties in a bunch everytime someone uses a racial slur?

Now that Lamont has done a “video blog”, that put more pressure on me to get with the times. I just don’t understand how standing there saying something is more compelling than just writing it… especially if it’s Lamont. The only thing less compelling would be a Lieberman “video blog”.

Leave it to a lefty to drop a racial slur on what is supposed to be a “racially sensitive” subject. How amazingly ironic.

I cannot understand how anyone takes this milquetoast prissy moron seriously. I read somewhere (maybe right here on HotAir) that he looks like Malcolm from the TV series “Malcolm in the Middle”.

He’s a hypocrite lambasting WalMart while he actually owns over $31K in stock.

I hate WalMart and I don’t like nor trust him.

doingwhatican on August 4, 2006 at 8:01 PM

Everyone with his wealth is bound to own stock in something which can be used to call them hypocrites. The minstrel stuff is playing the left’s “I’m so offended” game when everyone knows it is sorta funny in a puerile kind of way, no race is being put down and nobody is really offended.

Better to go after Mr. Ned on substance. He has the shoulders of a girl. Look at how they slope. His head is longer than one shoulder is wide. He’s a fanny pack man. They don’t make knapsacks for shoulders like that.

Essex on August 4, 2006 at 8:18 PM

Essex,
He does have the shoulder’s of a girl!

I’d love to see that attack in a campaign ad. Everyone would laugh off the attack as silly, but then his support among men would erode (what self-respecting guy could vote for some fanny pack wearing sissy?) and then most women would turn against him (most women want a government that will protect them, and they just won’t feel safe placing such responsibility on such girly shoulders).

frankj on August 4, 2006 at 9:49 PM

BTW, I agree the attack on him owning Wal-Mart stock is weak. The guy is rich and probably pays people to do his investing for him and thus has no idea what stock he owns. It’s hard to imagine someone so dumb as to be denouncing Wal-Mart while jumping on it as an investment opportunity; if he were that stupid, how’d he get rich in the first place?

frankj:”it’s hard to imagine someone so dumb as to be denouncing Wal-Mart while jumping on it as an investment opportunity; if he were that stupid, how’d he get rich in the first place?”
Let me guess…inherited riches? If I were going to make Wal-Mart an issue, I would have divested first. The bit about ‘being so rich, he has people investing for him’ doesn’t make sense; if he hates Wal-Mart, he could have told them at any time not to touch that stock. Do the Democrats really want this guy going to Congress for them? Would they even know his name if Lieberman had not spoken up about progress in Iraq?
And if they are so delusional that they are ready to shoot the kneecaps off one of their Senators for not following the quagmire template…should they be trusted with any political power?
It should be up to the voters in Connecticut to decide who they want to represent their interests. But big name Dems from Calif to NY are joining in the Lieberman blanket party.
Shame on them all.
