Mel Gibson plays the Holocaust “numbers game”

Twelve million, six, four — who can keep track?

He’s pretty sure it happened, though.

On the Mel booze-to-Jew-hate conversion chart, I’d say this one rates a couple of Zimas.

ABC has an interesting tie-in to the controversy. Behold the roiling tide of Christianism:

What else can I throw at you guys here, hm? How about a nice photo of Hugo Chavez making kissyface with General Giap? Sound good?

This guy has no foreign policy whatsoever beyond antagonizing America. None.

He’s the natural choice for Democratic nominee in ‘08.

I owe Michelle a post about Israel but it’s 102 degrees and I have nothing to say. There are either a thousand jihadis left to kill, or 3,000, or possibly 15,000. Morale’s sky high, though, and the IDF’s threatening to occupy southern Lebanon for months if need be. Iran’s getting nervous and sounding increasingly desperate. And Hezbollah’s turning into Baghdad Bob.

The time’s never been better for an officially sanctioned John Murtha cut-and-run ceasefire.

Upon careful analysis, though, this much is certain:

If Mary Katherine Ham looks anything like this, I really need to meet her.

Update: I assume most everyone here reads Day By Day, but if you’re new to it, click through a few strips. Every female in it has the body of Christina Applegate circa 1989.

Long may you run, Chris Muir.

We went from the Holocaust to the Viet Cong to me ogling cartoon characters in the span of about 500 words. You don’t get that from your run of the mill able-to-hold-a-train-of-thought bloggers.

That’s why I get paid the big bucks.

Finally, some love for the brunettes.

Why are “whites” and “Muslims” missing from that favorability poll?

Perchant on August 2, 2006 at 6:56 PM

Best. Ad. Ever.

They’re not going to put $50 million to $100 million plus their reputation into a film made by an admitted alcoholic, scofflaw and apparent bigot.

Now a secret alcoholic scofflaw and bigot, well that’s a different story.

Apropos of nothing, is it just me, or is General Giap looking like Montgomery Burns these days?

I have. She does.

(And hopefully she won’t mind my saying so!)

Did you catch this, halfway down page 2?

America is also, of course, still a work in progress.

In context:

Foxman and Kaplan both reviewed the dangers of so public — even iconic — a figure declaiming such hatred, and remembered that when such leadership has gone unchallenged in other countries, horrors ensued.

Not least the Nazi Holocaust, which Mel Gibson’s father, by all accounts, denies and in which 6 million Jews were murdered. The Nazis also killed a quarter million Roma (Gypsies) and some 2 million mostly Catholic Poles. Slavs, such as most Poles, were also considered “inferior” by Nazis, as were many of the additional 3 million to 4 million they killed, including homosexuals, Jehovah’s witnesses, mentally and physically handicapped and Soviet prisoners of war.

America is also, of course, still a work in progress.

It’s not only that throughout the 1930s the governments of Washington, London and Paris remained anti-Semitic and generally racist enough for most of their members to feel that somehow they could live with Hitler in Germany.

Nor is it possible even to count the numbers of Catholic immigrants from Europe, and Latino and Asian immigrants, who have felt the deep pain of exclusion and accusation of things that are in no way their fault — nor count the even deeper insults to the native Americans these immigrants displaced.

And African-Americans?

I still do a troubled mental double-take every time I remember that there was official apartheid in my country, the U.S.A., until I was well out of college (class of ‘65.)

Did that reporter honestly just compare the Jim Crow laws – and I’m not minimizing them AT ALL – and people who feel “the deep pain of exclusion” with the organized murder of millions of people?

He sure did. Next time I feel “the deep pain of exclusion” at last call, can I sue the women there for war crimes?

Just askin’.

Mel Gibson gets drunk, says nasty things about jews and cops with nice racks, apologizes later and gets crucified as Hitler re-incarnate.

Jihadis while sober, say nasty things about jews, kill jews, and pledge to keep on killing jews until they’re wiped out, honored as resistance fighters and misunderstood heroes.

Ahhh fuck.

Because of the racist double standard. They’re Arabs so they supposedly don’t know any better.

Allahpundit on August 2, 2006 at 8:08 PM

Jeez, I was hoping I was hallucinating or something and just misunderstood.

Reporters, presumably sober, say nasty things about Mel Gibson AND Jews, while honoring jihadis and despots.

Laura on August 2, 2006 at 8:09 PM

Wow. That is one disturbing picture.

On the Mel side of things… you know what? I could give a crap if he hates Jews with all his guts. It won’t change the fact that:

A.) I fully support Israel in their right to exist and thrive (not to mention whipping the holy dog-sh*t out of all those inbred muslim wackos).

And:

B.) That I count Road Warrior, Braveheart, The Patriot, We Were Soldiers, and Passion of the Christ as being some of my all time favorite movies ever.

Can’t WAIT to see Apocalypto.

venmax on August 2, 2006 at 8:49 PM

Mel should have just blamed Christians for all the wars instead. He would be the toast of the town in the MSMs eyes, and not be the scourge of the day for a politically incorrect, drunken rant.

roninacreage on August 2, 2006 at 10:56 PM

Dick Morris has written in books, articles and spoke of on TV, about many anti-Jew remarks uttered by both Clintons and the media could give a rats ass. If Mel were a liberal democrat, this wouldn’t even be an issue. Just ask Jackson, Sharpton, Byrd, etc.

roninacreage on August 2, 2006 at 11:05 PM

Hey there, Allah. And thanks, Ed! I’m just working on the hair of Christina Applegate circa 1989. Now, that’s hot-t-t-t.
