British theme park cancels “Muslim Fun Day”

Due to lack of interest. 28,000 tickets allotted, not even 1,000 sold. About on par with the monthly CAIR fundraising target vis-a-vis donations received.

It sure did sound like fun, though:

We have arranged with Alton towers to ensure no music, gambling or alcohol is allowed on the day as well as segregated adult ride areas, halal food stalls & prayer areas. We hope this day will live up to all your expectations and be a part of your happy memories for years to come.

Islamic Leisure – Bringing Islam & Leisure together.

Alton Towers: where “fun” is defined by the things you’re not allowed to do.

There’s a whole stupid backstory here involving the “controversial” Muslim-only nature of the event, which isn’t controversial at all: Islamic Leisure booked the park for the day and then sold tickets. Although it was pretty funny when a couple that wanted to get married at the park somehow ended up being double-booked with the Muslims and were told the female guests would have to wear hijabs if they wanted to ride Splash Mountain.

Thanks to the cancellation, the crisis has been averted.

Who the hell gets married at a theme park, anyway? They should have to wear hijabs, just to punish them for their tackiness.

There is evidence that statement is more true than you probably realize.

I heard that the ‘Suicide Bomber’ ride is a blast.

4thelittleguy on August 2, 2006 at 12:04 AM

“Muslim fun” is an oxymoron.

(unless you mean headchopper videos and honor killings)

speed647 on August 2, 2006 at 12:11 AM

Here’s hoping the couple sues the theme park for breach of contract anyway. As I recall the couple had their reservations made out first and made all their plans before the park told them of the restictions.

Even if having a wedding in a theme park is tacky.

BTW: When’s Catholic Fun day? Protestant Fun Day?

And speed – headchopping and honor killings videos are muslim p0rn – not simply fun.

CrazyFool:

To be fair sort of, in NYC, Coney Island’s Astroland has been known to allow Hasidic Jews private use of the park for a day. I don’t know enough information of it to say for certain whether or not non Hasidic Jews would be permitted in the park the same day. The Hasid men and women retain their modest dress.

In Allentown, PA, Dorney Park and Wild Water Kingdom I have also read are closed on certain days for private functions. I do not know for whom specifcally the functions are for.

In short, it is not so unusual for a public amusement park to be closed to the public for private functions of which it is possible to be for a religious group.

There was an unfairness against the engaged couple, but the fault lies with the park booking a private function after they made their plans, not the fact the function happened to be for religious Muslims.

I do not think dhimmitude was involved in this particular case.

BTW: When’s Catholic Fun day?

Whenever Catholic Leisure rents the park.

Allahpundit on August 2, 2006 at 1:32 AM

Fun? FUN?!

Just another decadent Western conspiracy designed to oppress the Muslim World no doubt.

venmax on August 2, 2006 at 6:50 AM

I couldn’t even imagine a Muslim trying to pretend having fun. When is fun part of their lifestyle? Since when do they try to have fun in a Western culture theme park? What’s the thrill? There are no prayer rugs. There’s no dust storms. No goats. No squalor. No flag-burning ride.

Maybe if there were a rollercoaster ride when it reached its zenith it explodes into a huge fireball, that might turn some heads.

Just another Islamic fun day….la la

Hening, for the extremists, you forgot some:

- Baby-sitting exhibit – Imams teaching the children early what they’d like to become
- Stadium – filled to capacity to watch a few executions
- Another stadium – how to blow up statues
- “Bring your women, but keep them covered” and show the men how to whip them (lest they dare to speak or think)

Still, they are the extreme exceptions which ruin the reputation of the good Muslims. A few live in my neighborhood. After work, they sit around on patios, night after night, eat with friends and sing or play the most beautiful music. They are as American as the rest of us.

LMAO Hening!

Scorched_Earth on August 2, 2006 at 11:39 AM

Ok. I stand corrected about Catholic fun day. Thanks.

Good one Hening….

Putting the “fun” in “Islamofascipsychotic.”

Wait, that doesn’t make sense.

In Pennsylvania you will frequently see groups of full dress Amish and Mennonite tourists mingling with the mainstream public at theme parks and other tourist traps. To my knowledge they don’t insist on any Plain People-only days and get along just fine.

MRegine on August 2, 2006 at 12:57 PM

They didn’t get it.

Great Britian is one big Muslim fun park.

entagor on August 2, 2006 at 1:16 PM

apologies to the great Brits who live in Great Britain (sp)

entagor on August 2, 2006 at 1:17 PM

The Gitmo section features “Terrorists of the Caribbean.”

pjcomix on August 2, 2006 at 1:24 PM

MRegine, it’s not just in Pennsylvania. Here in Kentucky the Amish and the Mennonites go the mall, eat at McDonald’s and sell food and produce at the local farmer’s market. They wear plain dress and the women wear the white prayer caps. They are nice folks and never ask for special treatment.

What to see the the world’s worst theme park in Egypt? I mean..it’s really, really depressing to see these pictures. Also, contrast that to “Dubailand.” Read again…Dubailand. Not Disneyland.

I live fairly close to the Mall of America and I will tell you this-
I have gone there on a regular basis in the past on field trips,as a companion to children who are handicapped physically and/or mentally.(Public school kids)
There is a huge fun amusement park at the mall that used to be called “Camp Snoopy”,and now I dont know what its called. Each time I’ve been there we have practically been spit on by the Arab/Somali men,who regularly take up all the seats near the indoor park. We have even been yelled at,to leave the vicinity, which we did, because the kids were scared. These “men” cant abide children who are impaired. They sneered at us.
Once I asked the ride attendant what was going on.He told me that the local Muslim community was there every single day,at the park,in force.(Why not, Minnesota welfare pays for everything, spend your day at the mall, the taxpayer pays for it.)The men sneer, and drink coffee.(at our expense)
Anyhow I asked him what he would do if one day NO Muslims showed up at Camp Snoopy, and he said,”I would get the hell out of here quick”
FYI
These last 2 years 30,000 more Bantu Somalis were dumped in our state.
