Breaking: Sheehan lied to buy land in Crawford (Update: Confirmed)

posted at 11:43 am on July 28, 2006 by Bryan

A report from Texas popped in my email today: Cindy Sheehan (surprise, surprise) lied to buy her land in Crawford, TX. She bought it, naturally, as an outpost from which to stalk President Bush when he stays at his ranch.

The Mike Gallagher Show had Sheehan’s story about the land as his subject today. The news has an interview of the lady who owned the land. She said another person actually bought the land for Sheehan. This fella led the land owner to believe he was a Katrina victim and was (I theorize) trying to start a new beginning or some sob story. Cindy knew that nobody would sell her the land so she used some Anti-war activist to buy it and he lied about who he was! End justifies the means.

Did anyone else out there hear Gallagher’s show? Is Cindy Sheehan now faking Katrina victimhood to bamboozle her way into buying land with her son’s insurance money, to protest a war he died supporting?

Just, wow.

And what is it with leftwingers and stalking lately, anyway?

And another thing: Isn’t this yet another example of sockpuppetry?

Update (Allahpundit): Sounds like the guy who bought the property was a bona fide victim of Katrina, but otherwise Gallagher was right on the mark. From the Waco Tribune-Herald:

Longtime Crawford resident Bobby D. Ramsey sold a little more than five acres to Gerald T. Fonseca, a New Orleans native who said he was displaced by Hurricane Katrina last fall. Fonseca was in Crawford along with hundreds of other war protesters when the hurricane destroyed his home Aug. 29…

In September, Fonseca said, ownership of the land will be transferred to Sheehan.

Ramsey, who soon may find unexpected neighbors when protesters move into a huge tent on the property he sold, said he was unaware before the sale that it would be used by Sheehan to host Camp Casey in August.

“(Fonseca) said he was going to build a home and, one day, a shop (on the land),” Ramsey said Thursday, speaking from his adjacent property in Crawford. “He told me that Katrina wiped him out… It didn’t even occur to me that he could use it for this.”

Fonseca confirmed he never indicated to his new neighbors that the land would be transferred to Sheehan, but he said that was always the plan. He said the $52,500 used to pay for the property — a spread of rustic, wooded prairie with no houses — came from Sheehan and her Gold Star Families for Peace.

Fonseca said he acted as “an agent” for Sheehan, negotiating the purchase and closing the deal with Ramsey.

Sheehan lied
Someone pinch me I’m stunned

Defector01 on July 28, 2006 at 12:00 PM

I heard about this on Fox and Friends this morning. And the slimy get slimier…..

JVelez on July 28, 2006 at 12:07 PM

Cindy lied? I’m shock, shocked I tell you.

So how does this go? Bush lied by telling the truth as he knew it about WMDs, but she told the truth by getting someone else to lie for her? Her idea of ethics is more than a little odd.

High Desert Wanderer on July 28, 2006 at 12:09 PM

I heard about this on Fox this morning too… she is a lunatic.

Cary on July 28, 2006 at 12:17 PM

Isn’t this yet another example of sockpuppetry?

Actually that’s a straw purchase isn’t it? Those are supposed to be bad too, or is that just with firearms?

High Desert Wanderer on July 28, 2006 at 12:25 PM

Isn’t this just typical of the lefties? They can do and say whatever they want, but heaven help us if we should suggest that what they are saying isn’t the real deal.
She is so disgusting it isn’t even funny.
What would her son say about all of this? The young man gave his life and his own mother carries on the way she does.
She is so disgusting it is beyond words.

Gee, I am shocked that Cindy lied……not really…

Judge Napolitano had the woman who originally owned the property on his radio show this morning. “Brian and the Judge”. The property was sold to a Mr Fancesco who then intends to lease it to Ms Sheehan. The buyer representated himself as a Katrina victim, aren’t we all now, and he was going to build a house. She is looking into sometkind of legal action to prevent the final transfer of the property to Sheehan.

As if we ever thought she was honest. Take her “hunger strike”, errrr, uhhh,… Jamba Juice/Ice Cream and Coffee diet for instance. Does anyone actually think she’s suffering as she’s trying to lead us to believe?

It’s just another typical leftie case of, “do as I say, not as I do.”

Deb Frisch, Kos and his kids, and on and on and on. They all do it, why is anyone surprised.

This just gets better each day — Lefties Gone Wild.

Rick on July 28, 2006 at 1:19 PM

If you already sold the land, even if the buyer had false premises, unless they haven’t paid up the former owner has NO recourse and no right to say what can or can’t be done iwth the land.

Now if the land was DONATED because the new owner was a Katrina victim and the new owner blatantly lied to get the land, then he’s up ****’s creek.

Defector01 on July 28, 2006 at 1:19 PM

The woman is sicker than Andrea Yates.

Labamigo on July 28, 2006 at 1:26 PM

That Cindy S. lies and is a lunatic is as certain as the sun rising in the East.

That the lefties don’t hide from her is weird.

Entelechy on July 28, 2006 at 1:26 PM

I suspect the line about “purchasing the land with her sons death insurance money is also a lie”. His passing was some time ago, and, with all of her exploits, that money was probably gone some time earlier after his death. But, the headline of “using Casey’s insurance money” makes for good press.

gary on July 28, 2006 at 1:38 PM

What is she going to do? Sit on her porch and glare in the direction of Bush’s house? She should get busy-I want her stumping for Democrats, to be sort of the Typhoid Mary of mid term election 2006. Get busy, Woman! There are votes to be lost!

Doug on July 28, 2006 at 2:03 PM

It seems to me that she is now STALKING Pres. Bush. Can he get a restraining order? I’m serious.

pullingmyhairout on July 28, 2006 at 2:08 PM

A Liberal Lying??????? No Way!!!!!

havok on July 28, 2006 at 2:09 PM

It’s probably Michael Moore’s, Sean Penn’s, and/or Susan Sarandon’s money that paid for the land. The Hollywood crowd would love nothing more than to have Jamba Cindy and the Pink Ladies out in front of the ranch – not to mention they will now have their own Texas party palace where they can drop acid and smoke-out 24/7 (like they always do at peace/love rallies).

Rick on July 28, 2006 at 2:10 PM

Here’s the story from the Waco Trib. The man from New Orleans admitted to subterfuge to getting the land, even telling the owner that he intended to build a home, and maybe someday a workshop.

http://www.wacotrib.com/news/content/news/stories/2006/07/28/07282006wacosheehanlandbuy.html

He said that he was just acting as an agent for the real buyer, Cindy Sheehag and the Gold Star Martyr’s Brigade.

Matticus Finch on July 28, 2006 at 2:10 PM

If the sole basis of selling the land was because someone wanted to assist a victim, and the land would not have otherwise been sold, then this is a case of egregious fraud. If the land was up for sale anyways, the sob story for the need to buy it, while still disgusting, is pointless since it is against the law to discriminate when selling property.

All I can say is, there goes the neighborhood.

BelchSpeak on July 28, 2006 at 2:15 PM

How would you like to be this lady’s next door neighbor, especially during Vacation/Bashing/Stalking season?

I’d have the local sheriff on speed dial if I lived in the vicinity this summer. If Cindy and her crew get geared up, it’s going to make Woodstock look like a weenie roast.

52Ranger on July 28, 2006 at 2:52 PM

Hmmmm wonder how the land is zoned???

And I bet theres no water or power there yet… and no sewage.. if not and they camp there for an extended time, with a LOT of people, you can nail them on the health affects.

Also, if this land was bought for a house, and is used for a campground, as land use goes, coulnd’t you nail them for not filing an environmental impact statement???? LOL… use the moonbat tactics against em?

Romeo13 on July 28, 2006 at 3:25 PM

Did Ramsey sell a parcel of a larger holding? If so, perhaps there should be a gun range right next to Sheehan Acres. Only active during the times the President is in Crawford. Maybe use imminent domain to comdemn her new land and make a Bush family monument on it.

ScottG on July 28, 2006 at 3:49 PM

She better not wonder over into the Presidents Ranch while the VP is over dove hunting. I wouldn’t advise it.

Drtuddle on July 28, 2006 at 3:57 PM

What’s the statute regarding straw purchases in Texas? This sounds like a fraud case waiting to happen.

Kid from Brooklyn on July 28, 2006 at 4:40 PM

Well, no matter what legal ways there may be to put this loon in her place, they will twist and turn it to fit their wacko agenda.

bbz123 on July 28, 2006 at 4:50 PM

Anyone know under what tax designation the Gold Star Families for Peace is registered under (I checked their site and saw no type of charitable designation, or any designation of any kind)? I’m guessing they are not a non-profit organization. I ask only because there are (or at least should be if anyone in the IRS is paying attention) serious tax implications regarding their gift of over $50,000 to this gentleman.

Someone with more knowledge than I can correct me if I’m wrong, but won’t they have to pay taxes on the money they gave this guy? Wouldn’t it technically be considered a gift? After all, he did buy the property in his own name, or so it would seem.

mhexel on July 28, 2006 at 6:12 PM

I like the previous idea of a rifle/pistol range. Even invite the Secret Service over to use it when they are around. The enviro impact/health code violation idea is excellent as well. If any food is sold on site, well, anybody who has operated in the food service industry knows all about the grief the Health department can cause

Hmmmm…..Bush’s term has only a couple years to go. What is St. Cindy going to do then?

GT on July 28, 2006 at 8:36 PM

The hypocrisy of this woman, and the anti-war movement in general, is so glaringly obvious. What can they possibly say in their own defense?

speed647 on July 28, 2006 at 9:44 PM

Thanks Cindy. More ammo for the RNC in the fall.

No wonder we don’t hear “culture of corruption” coming from the mouths of liberals anymore. They’re in it up to their eyeballs. h..y..p..o..c..r.. you know the rest.

realitychick on July 28, 2006 at 10:55 PM

I think many, including myself, are underestimating the number of people that can relate to Mother Sheehan. Through all of her wackiness, lies, anti-americanism… she and the rest of the millions of bush-haters’s in this country have traction.

I’m terrified of the House and Senate going to the left in November, but I think it’s going to happen. In a twisted, masochismic way it COULD be the only way the GOP gets itself straigtened out for ’08. Big price to pay, but the “lesser of two evils” thing has worn thin.

Drtuddle on July 29, 2006 at 12:07 PM

Stalking the President by obtaining property through fraudulent means. This is one cruel, twisted broad.

I think W should start proceedings against her as soon as he is out of office.

doingwhatican on July 29, 2006 at 5:10 PM

sure hope the Secret Service will take note. She’s gone above and beyond stalking if she’s going to all this trouble. I sure hope she doens’t think the man is afraid of her, cause ain’t no way in hell that he is.

johnnyU on July 31, 2006 at 10:56 AM

Maybe she’ll be using the land to open a Curves franchise?

More likely a Dairy Queen, or a Jamba Juice, or McDonalds…
