Honora, it is just so much of the “blame the feds”, when in fact, the first responders and the first preparers are the municipalities, counties, and states…..then come the feds. The absence of the cities, counties, and state to do THEIR job should not go un-noticed. And what does the city of New Orleans do ?? Re-elect school-bus nagin. go figure.

I agree with you 100%. But that does not excuse putting a political hack into a key role like FEMA director. Why does this have to be a zero sum game????? Nagin was beyond bad, actually pitiful. And, FEMA was completely disfunctional.

I am just SICK of this Hurricane Katrina crap!! Does anyone believe that when a demorat president is in the office in the future, 10’s of thousands of people that did not evacuate from a storm will be aided IMMEDIATELY ?? That
is just bull!!

Really, how much can gary put up with??? Don’t know if a dem or rep president would do this or that, but hope in the future the FEMA director position is not inexplicitly awarded to someone whose job experience lies in the horse business.

Did the same thing a couple of years ago and he got White House support, too.

P.S. Yeah, it stinks, politically, living in Maryland. But Steele should remember that Ellen Sauerbrey nearly won for governor in 1994 running as a conservative, then got trounced in 1998 running as a moderate.
