This is Planned Parenthood on crack.

Planned Parenthood

(thanks to Hot Air affiliate Sanctuary)

Via Dawn Patrol, the latest insanity from the organization founded on eugenics and social engineering:

Safety Counts is a new program at Planned Parenthood aimed at helping injecting drug users who might not be ready to quit, but would like to practice safer drug use and make changes to their habits. Participants can be active drug users. Every participant is using or has used heroine and/or crack cocaine.

Bleach kits with sterile water and cotton pellets to clean off syringes, and mouth pieces for pipes are offered free-of-charge.

“What we’re trying to do is teach them the stages of change, and how to make changes in their lives. We teach them how to stay clean. How to not contract or transmit HIV and Hepatitis C,” said Mary Atilano the program coordinator.

What does this have to do with family planning? Nothing, but it does have to do with you–Planned Parenthood netted millions in federal money to run this program.

Here’s a list of things Planned Parenthood, previously infamous for handing out condoms and teaching edgy sex education courses to teens, won’t hand out for free:

1. Leaflets for the True Love Waits campaign.

2. Cigar cutters.

Feel free to add your own.

Yes but see it’s all our fault anyway that people are having all those babies which are bad things to begin with – So we must punish ourselves for our misbehavior! If we weren’t living on this planet and having all these babies there wouldn’t be all this trouble. We should all have safe heroin until we die, and all stop having babies (or at least all get abortions) until we vanish.

Then the Earth will be saved! :-D

I know you guys are really allergic to science, but Needle Exchange Programs and other harm reduction strategies have been found to be very effective at reducing Hep and HIV, both of which are spread sexually (there’s your “family planning” angle right there). Just to clue you in: Planned Parenthood works on many issues beyond just “killing babies.” HIV and STD prevention is a major campaign they have. Google is your friend.

And another fact that will fly through one ear and out the other: tax-payer funded abstinence-only education has been proven over and over again to be ineffective at changing sexual behavior at attitudes.

Lol – I was eating in a local fast food restaurant yesterday, and a child not older than 8 came in wearing the True Love W.A.I.T.S. shirt. We had fun trying to guess the acronym’s meaning. My best guess was “We Ain’t Into Trying Sex”, ok it wasn’t a great effort…

I like the idea of abstinence education, but it was humorous to see such a young kid wearing the shirt. When I was that age, I wouldn’t have had a clue what the back of his shirt meant – ‘Wait for your Mate’ – ‘Some things are worth the wait!’

Great stuff…

Seems you might be allergic to the notion that the best way to get your point across is to not be condescending. You’re not going to convince many people while talking down to them. “How to Win Friends and Influence People” just might be your friend. Just to clue you in…

Excuse me better off, but your comments are inane, let alone irrelevant. True, HIV and hepatitis may very well be transmitted sexually but the point of this post is to question Planned Parenthood’s involvement in the non-sexual aspects of HIV and hepatitis transmission from drug addicts. I don’t know it seemed pretty simple and straightforward to me. Also, thank you for highlighting tax-payer funded . I’m pretty sure that would make it a democrat backed program..lol No wonder, its ineffective.

Allergic to science, BoB? I worked for the Hubble Space Telescope project for 8 years.

What are your credentials?

BoB; This is about “us” paying for it thru “Planned Parenthood”. This has nothing to do with that organization. I personally feel that a person is responsible for themselves, be it good or bad decisions; one must live with the consequences. I should’t have to fund a persons lifestyle.
Go back to the litter box BoB

br8veheart on July 21, 2006 at 3:33 PM

Bryan, it’s interesting to know that you worked on the Hubble Project. You should have Michelle, or whoever does it, make that part of your credentials in the “Credit” section of “About”.

Good post by the way; keep em’ coming.

Oh God here we go with the “Conservatives Hate Science” bullcrap again…

Like the science that says..

- Straight and non-drug using people are just as likely to contract AIDS as gay people and drug abusers are?

- There aren’t inherently genitic ability differences between men and women when it comes to certain skills above others?

- Car emissions cause Hurricanes to form and Ice Bergs to Melt?

- That Darwin’s theory of random mutation and natural selection is true despite an almost total absense of possible transitional species in the expansive fossil record we’ve built to date?

- That GM’s trucks automatically blow up when they suffer a side collision?

- That DDT will cause more deaths in Africa than the millions that occur there from starvation every year because they can’t perform pest control on their crops?

- That embryonic stem cell research must be persued mercilessly, even though adult stem cell research has provided medical advances far above and beyond anything they’ve seen come out of the former? Hell forget embryonic stem cells, let’s just perform experiments on real live babies!

Oh yeah buddy. We’re REAL scared over here.

We’re practically sh*tting our pants.

Sure it may slow the spread of HIV BUT IT DOESN’T DO JACK SHIT TO SLOW OR STOP THE DRUG USE THAT IS WHY PEOPLE ARE GETTING THE GODDAMNED DISEASE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

So, there’s your “science” right there dipshit.

venmax on July 21, 2006 at 4:08 PM

Better off Braindead, I know you are allergic to intelligence, common sense, and making sense… but that was beyond even your norm of idiocy.

There is NO reason for the government to fund these people for ANYTHING. There’s no reason for the government to fund the NRA either — and as far as I know, they don’t. The government doesn’t (at least in general) fund activist groups on the right, why are they giving so much as ONE RED CENT to activist groups on the left? Maybe, just maybe, the level of support activist groups on the left CAN’T drum up from average people should serve as a CLUE about a few things…

Jefferson had it right on this much, the smaller the government, the better. Military defense, roads, a few other things that affect EVERYBODY, that’s ALL the government should be involved in. Everything else should be privately funded. If it can’t get private funding, it can go straight up and turn down in my book.

And speaking of science (even though the blog hasn’t posted my first entry on this subject yet!)…

…why is it with every scientific advance liberals just use it as an excuse to try and remove people of any and all personal accountability and responsibility?

I mean seriously – BOB can’t be THAT big an idiot. He can’t ACTUALLY BELIEVE that if these people were to stop using drugs and stop sleeping around so much (the two go hand in hand BOB) that their HIV rates wouldn’t go down. In fact wouldn’t that be preferable to free needles and condoms? They would have jobs and be productive members of society. Like JFK said right? What YOU can do for your country?

I’m sure BOB sees this – but lets be perfectly honest here – BOB just wants to live in a world where he can use drugs and have free sex without any consequences for his behavior. He may not do that in his life right now, but he just likes to think he has that option in the future if he wants to.

He doesn’t see the scientic advances of birth control and mass-produced, high quality, sterile syringes as being things that can benefit mankind. He sees them as being things that will let him fuck around a lot easier.

venmax on July 21, 2006 at 4:22 PM

Well, all talk of science aside, this is a marketing move for them, keeping drug-addicts alive and having sex is good biz for Plannned Parenthood, because a pregnant addict would be compelled to have an abortion,a daily blast of heroin or crack is not so great for a developing fetus. They are just building their customer base.

Hey Big Ol’ Butthole. I’m an engineer, yup that’s right, a big freaky, gun totin’ Cheetos eatin’ Walmart shoppin’, chickenhawk engineer. Who’s not afraid to say I’ve never served in the military.
Soooo, what are your credentials again, miss scientist? And about that military service…

No wonder you idiots lose elections. You think all conservatives live in “My Name is Earl” world. You make fun of those who shop at Walmart, never noticing how dang many people shop there. You rip on NASCAR, not noticing that those who advertise on their cars get about a 30% increase in sales after doing so. You basically insult 85% of your own countrymen, and then expect them to vote for you out of self-loathing.
Sorry, most conservatives aren’t as insecure as you, and don’t want any part of your elitist BS.

Geez “Better off Blue” I always thought quantitative analysis was part of science. At least that was what I was taught when completing quantitative experiments for my M.A. and Ph.D.
As such, I’ve always had a hard time understanding how liberals can defend several things statistics clearly don’t support, such as
1. Collective systems of government, which killed between 100 and 150 million people during the 20th century. (Google R.J. Rummel “20th Century Democide”);
2. Welfare policies which savage black families (Google Kay S. Hymowitz, “The Black Family, 40 Years of Lies”);
3. Denial of public school choice which ravages black youth (Google Katherine Kersten, “Black Flight: The Exodus to Charter Schools”); and
4.Tax policies retarding economic growth and prosperity (Google Richard W. Rahn, “Not Rocket Science”).
So before condemning (or should that be “condoming”) others, big blue, perhaps you should practice what you screed.

Thanks BoB for your righteous pontification on the subject…

Here’s something Planned Parenthood will do for free:
allow a President to use an intern as an ashtray and not require a condom.

BoB: the most coherent thoughts you’ve ever posted here. Congratulations!

But you’re overlooking one very important factor: Planned Parenthood is in it for the money honey. Ironically enough, profit drives their progressive agenda. Ain’t capitalism grand?

…Needle Exchange Programs and other harm reduction strategies have been found to be very effective at reducing Hep and HIV….

This technician takes it for granted that it’s unquestionably a good thing that users will stay healthy a while longer. His technical measures of success take no account of the fact that users will live to buy more heroin and cocaine. The ones already infected with HIV won’t be incapacitated by “Hep”; they’ll go on having sex–while they’re too high to stop and put on a condom, or to notice whether their “partner” did so, as the case may be. They won’t go downhill so fast; it’ll take longer for them to do their part to reinforce the bad reputation of drug use; they won’t soon serve as a warning to others. They’ll live to perpetrate a few more armed robberies, maybe, or to share their stash with a few more new friends. But they’ll improve certain public health numbers a little bit, for a while. A competent technician who doesn’t think any farther than that knows, he just knows, that this sort of trimming is what every “scientific” person should be after.

It’s technicians like this who give science a bad name. Every one of their little techniques is “science.” They drag science’s good name through the mud of every little technical success, no matter how trifling, questionable, or even disgusting it is, to people who can see beyond the end of their nose.

Dr. Waugh, thank you for enumerating the overlooked-by-the lefties sins/crimes I’ve so often agonized over. They continue to do so in this century.

Aside from starting ‘little dog fights and then watching them’, while it’s all about me, me, me, BoB, as a representative of her side, uses another typical tactic: can’t win my argument by logic, call the adversary dumb or act snooty (i.e. address them with “you people” or “you guys” and then lampoon them with generalities about their supposed ignorance and prescribed fixes). Once insulted, one can’t agree with them, even if occasionally one is inclined to do so.

NTWR, as an engineer, could you answer one question for me?

How do you get them big trains to move so fast?

:)

To BOB, junk science does not equate true science. Back to the drawing board for you.
