Video: Gillermania II — A Man Called Gillerman

What about the civilians and isn’t it disproportionate and why go to such lengths for a couple of soldiers etc etc?

Answer: “The two soldiers are the heart of the issue but they’re not the only issue. When you look at the capability of the Hezbollah, when you look at these deadly weapons, when you look at missiles that have hit our third-largest city and can reach Tel Aviv, you realize the potential for danger which exists there. And that danger has to be eliminated.”

Gillermania.

Update: Tony Karon is dead-on in Time:

Henry Kissinger famously observed, at the height of the Vietnam era, that “the guerrilla wins if he does not lose. The conventional army loses if it does not win.” The same applies to Israel and Hizballah. If Hizballah lives to fight another day, it will have won the day, not only in the eyes of its own supporters, who will cheer its prowess in withstanding the Israeli onslaught, but also in the eyes of the Israeli military command.

Humanly speaking, it’s easy to respect Ambassador Gillerman, because he has an army backing him up. When he talks tough about eliminating a threat, we listen closely, because it probably means Israel has big plans for Hezbollah. European diplomats, on the other hand, are nameless clowns, because European nations scarcely have armies, and “Europe” has nothing but a name and a lot of bureaucrats. American diplomats are the middling case, because America is armed to the teeth, but God only knows in any given case whether and to what extent the Americans will have the nerve to use their arms. That brings us back to Ambassador Gillerman: After all his talk, he’s going to look lame-o if Prime Minister Olmert loses his nerve or if the IDF can’t destroy Hezbollah and bring Lebanon and Syria to heel.

If you have good arms, you will have good diplomats.

So…. where is the video of the Israli children who suffered and were killed over the years in suicide bombings and other terrorist attacks?

Interesting choice of video CNN chose to show while Gillerman was talking.

Benyamin Netanyahu on H/C the other night made a great comaprison: In the early 1960’s America had to contend with the Russians who had planted long range ballistic missles in Cuba. We saw it as a definite threat to our safety and security, and we set an embargo, an nearly went to the nuclear option to get those missles out of there. Russia blinked first;Israel is facing their missle crisis right now, and need to clean out southern Lebanon to stop the missles from reaching everywhere in Israel. Israel won’t blink. May God Bless Israel.

Israel needs to finish this fight. It’s key to actually winning the war on terror, rather than this endless creeping stalemate with impudent terrorist organizations.

Win, Israel, for the peace and stability of the world.

Thank you for standing up and saying, “Never again.” and meaning it.

I can do a Paula Zahn interview too:

Yes, but
Yes, but
Yes, but

CrazyFool is right. She is treating him like a perp awaiting indictment. He ought to carry photo cards of Israeli victims. He could hold them up like score cards at Olympic figure skating events. Flash open his jacket to reveal a suicide vest, just to freak her out. That bother you, PZ? Huh? Huh? Boom! Hee Hee! Just a Funny! Boom! Boom! Oops! Sorry! Another Funny! I see Dead People! Boom! So Funny! Sorry! Hee Hee!

PZ has no how idea how bigoted she appears.

Gillerman is a breath of fresh air!

Clear thinking, plain speech, and a well defined position that makes sense. I like this guy! (He obviously cannot be a liberal … the clear thinking alone puts him well apart from that class of lunacy ….)
