I read a story that has gotten lost in all the big events of late- South Korea has stopped food aid to the North . To me, that seems as though it could be big. But then again, perhaps China will just increase aid to compensate.

I’ll respect Ambassador Bolton if it ever gets to the point that what he says implies necessary obedience. But that’s not up to him; it’s up to the United States. A diplomat who knows how to talk tough is valuable if we plan to back him up; otherwise, he’s wasting his time and talents and making himself a buffoon.

The coverage of the UN and UNSC here on HotAir is, similarly, valuable only to the extent that the UN and UNSC matter. Does a UNSC “resolution” rate a headline? I can’t think of a reason, unless it’s just that it’s another occasion to heap scorn on the Administration’s preoccupation with the UN, or to list once more all the reasons that the UN is dangerous to our life and liberty.

I wonder if the UN seems more important than it is, just because it’s in the same city as the HotAir staff and gets a lot of coverage by other news-reporting organizations based in the city. Those organizations are probably run by old codgers who have the lifelong habit of thinking of the UN as “progressive” and as the nucleus of a world government. The young iconoclasts at HotAir would do well to keep the focus solidly on the U.S. Administration and its dangerous tendency to waste its energy and everyone’s time negotiating resolutions–highly esteemed paragraphs of nothing.

North Korea got you down? Take Syria out behind the woodshed and spank the hell out of them.
Why Syria? Because Iran mails a fat check every month so the Syrian bad boys will do their bidding in the most underhanded and hideous way. If we occupy the inside of the Syrian border all the way around and then march towards the middle, I think we can take’em. With Syria on a leash Iran will deal or can be dealt with. The Israelis will go home and the number of insurgents in Iraq will fall. Without Iran’s oil money feeding Mother Russia in trade for Hi tech weapons and (psst advisers of ALL sorts)and then when China stops getting oil from Iran and their stupidly supported by US economy slows down.
North Korea? (who? big deal). Syria is the key.

Though he had to do it through a recess appointment, I’m glad that President Bush put Bolton at the UN.
Will the real N. Korea Leader please stand up?

Oh goodie! The UN all got along, and managed to do nothing of consequence. I doubt if any liberal feels all fuzzy, and safer now. Anyone planning to vacation in Hawaii soon? Not I.

Just how many proofs will the US GoBernment need of the uselessness of the UN before they decide to kick them out of America? Currently the UN is trying to procure funding to revamp their building. My thought is they should start from scratch with a new building in another country. One on another continent. Maybe Iran would be interested.
