I find myself using Wikpedia out of laziness, but often walk into propaganda packages.

In my entirely UNexpert opinion, though, I think probably a vote that amounts to wishful thinking about removing the president through *lawful* means carries no danger to the folks involved. Impeachment isn’t overthrow.

The bill was referred to the House Rules Committee where it is *DEAD*.

The BDS sufferers have been greatly disappointed by the Illinois House, which refuses to “get involved” with their dastardly schemes.

If you read the US House Rules carefully, a state vote on an impeachment resolution does not bind the House of Representatives to (1) investigate whether to procede, or (2) refer it to the House Judiciary Committee for further review. The House Rules simply state that the House will consider such a request from a state, or they can simply ignore it.

Of course, as a House “rule”, it can be revoked at any time by the entire body.

Apparently the moonbats do not understand this: The House of Representatives is NOT a creature of the States. Representatives are elected directly by the people, and the collective body is separate from the States, who have no jurisdiction over it.

Nevertheless, the moonbats have wrapped themselves with “603″ in the mistaken belief that this is how they can forcibly overthrow Bush.

A question that I have is this: Would the IL state legislators who introduced this resolution be at risk for FEDERAL charges under 18 USC 2381 (treason) or 18 USC 2385 (attempting to overthrow the government) for the act of introducing a bill to oust the elected President of the United States?

My initial and admittedly cursory research says that STATE legislators do NOT have federal “immunity” for violations of FEDERAL laws for actions made in the course of their state legislative duties.

If I remember correctly, the state legislators of the confederate states were forcibly removed from office after the civil war and treated as traitors, ineligable to run for election again during the reconstruction.

It seems to me that using the “color of law” to overthrow an election where the people through the electoral college elected the President, might be sedition or treason even today.

Anybody want to hazard an opinion?
