When rumors attack: Castro dead?

Someone left a comment about it on Val’s site. Then Jonah Goldberg heard it from some friends on Wall Street.

Now one of Rusty’s sources is saying it too.

Is this it? Cohibas and, uh … what else does Cuba produce? Sugar cane?

Cohibas and pixie sticks for everyone tonight.

It’d be ironic if he bought it on the day they’re playing the All-Star game. Because he was/is a big baseball fan, see. Although I guess that’s not really that ironic. It’s ironic in the Alanis Morrisette sense, how’s that?

I’m really tired.

One can only hope…

Will Cuba change if he begins his permanent dirt nap?

HUH? I’m too dumb for some of this.

Sorry, Allah. Fidel’s doctor just said earlier this year he could live to 140+.

It’s not ironic, it’s poetically justicular.

If it is true, things will get real ugly. All of the,now prosperous, exiles will be trying to regain their birthright while those that stayed behind are too poor for lawyers to fight for what is theirs. Then you will have Raul Castro trying to live up to Brother Fidel’s legacy and it just might get out of hand and another bloody revolution will unfold. There will be no winners here.

A is tired. A bad day for him is better than most on a good day.

Can’t wait to see the fawning puff pieces about him.

What will the headlines be?
Just saw the following at the Tanknet forum and thought I’d share it with you all.

What will the different headlines be from different MSM sources upon the death of the bearded bastard?

AP: “Fidel Castro, dead at 79: billions mourn socialist humanitarian”
Reuters: “Fidel Castro, dead: no connection to Abu Graib found so far”

CBS Evening News: “Memo indicates Bush was AWOL while Castro rose to power”

NYT: “Fidel Castro, dies in Havana: women, minorities hardest hit”

LA Times: “Castro death another failure of the Bush Doctrine”

WaPo: “Rove implicated in Castro’s death”

Alanis Morrisette wrote a song about irony. rose to the top of the charts in the 90’s. it’s ok if you don’t know about pop culture. you get a pass! :)

here’s another one:
“Castro dies while dick cheney spear fishes in Cuba”

Kim Jong il’s only friend, now he’s even more ronery.

I guess this leaves Hugo Chavez as Latin America’s numero uno leftist commie socialist punk ass little biotch who’ll stand up to America … or at least America’s ankles. Hmmm, ankle biter, good name for Hugo.

Let’s just hope it’s true. Anybody remember when Fidel tripped off the stage at his birthday rally? I laughed so hard my ribs hurt!

Tony737 on July 12, 2006 at 9:32 AM

Raul Castro? Kramer told me he got his cigars from Fidel’s brother, Dennis! Dennis Castro!

Travis on July 12, 2006 at 9:52 AM

Irony-yeah, that’d be a jagged little pill to have to swallow.
I like the sound of Cuba Libre. Russia’s communists kept on failing for 70 years before they busted. Cuba should be relieved of it’s burdensome dictator, taken in as a prodigal child, and rebuilt as a democracy. If it’s good enough for Iraq, it’s should happen to Cuba, too.

If were true, all of hollywood would be at the funeral, the left wing demorats (Jimmah Karter on the front pew),
Momma Sheehan, Jesse and Teddie, the entire black caucus of the Congress, etc. But, with Raul assuming the reins, nothing will change. The fix is in. Just keep it in the family until the “People” finally stand up and fight!!

RUMOR CASTRO DEAD: Grave error.

Dr. Charles G. Waugh on July 12, 2006 at 8:24 PM

Speaking of Hollywood, did anyone else see parts of the movie Errol Flynn made in Cuba in the late 1950’s? I caught it on the History Channel, I think. He was communist-lite, way over the hill-imagine Alec Baldwin in about 5 years. He scraped together a bit of money and went down to Cuba to document Castro’s ‘noble struggle’-and was actually ’embedded’ with the rebels. A bum actor dissolute with alcohol had a front row seat for Castro’s rise to power. He had a girl with him, and to make some money wrote a cardboard movie for her to star in using the Castro footage as the story.
I guess a present day equivalent would be if Sean Penn, for example, would have gone to Iraq right before we invaded and…oops.
