This whole open borders crap is sickening. They really do take us for fools, don’t they?. And just what is the GOP agenda here? Do they really think they will get more votes from these criminals than Dems? I am at a total loss on the whole thing.
MalkinFan on July 11, 2006 at 9:22 AM
what is the GOP agenda here?
MikeG on July 11, 2006 at 9:34 AM
love it. Bank of America is offering free banking services to help illegals send money back to mexico. could it get more ironic than that?
And what’s up with Rove? the little respect i had for him is now gone.
the GOP: close your eyes, stick your fingers in your ears and scream “la la la la la la la la.”

I always start my day with Hot Air. Life is getting better thanks to Michelle.
Today’s vent seemed a little different. At the end I was left wondering how I can get into ‘the race’. Seems like the subsidies from corporations, benefits from the government, and preferences already in place plus those in the works make this a great deal. You’ve sold me Michelle. If a pasty white guy like Ward Churchill can be an Indian then a pasty white guy like me should all be able to become a mexachano (or whatever we are calling ourselves these days). This deal is too good to pass up & I thank you for clarifying all the benefits for me.

My blood boils again. This is sickening to watch our country die slowly at the hands of invaders. The revolutionary war, the civil war, 2 world wars….all those deaths for the USA only to end up supporting ‘the lower race’ and muslim (pisspeuponhim) terrorists in training. I’m so f*%king pissed.
shooter on July 11, 2006 at 9:45 AM
Most distressing! Thanks for this vent, Michelle!
Indeed, if a group of Italians were pulling a stunt like this, it would be classified as a type of Mafia plot and every federal law enforcement official would be falling over each other wanting to investigate and make arrests.
AND I CHALLENGE ANY FEDERAL OFFICER READING THIS TO TELL ME THAT I AM WRONG AND HOW I AM WRONG.
Once again, another example of PC for the benefit of one group but not another.
Washington PC must once again become Washington, DC.

DAMN, both pepsi AND coke. What’ll I drink now? And my bank, Wells Fargo now sucks south…but they were NOT my bank of choice, they just bought up every bank around including two of mine.

Cultural suicide.

Were I grew up on the border we always called it La Racista; the racist. It is amazing how, in the call for diversity, trying to diversify is a racist act robbing people of their culture.

Again, it makes you wonder why this Nation is so intent upon destroying itself.
It’s what liberalism has done, and is doing, for America.
NRA4Freedom on July 11, 2006 at 10:46 AM
In purely informational terms, that was your best vent yet; highly effective and persuasive.
As for the content – what to say? The world has gone mad. I can’t even think of a useful comment. Half the country seems to have its eyes closed on this issue, and as someone noted above, it is truly distressing watching this slow invasion take place – watching the disintegration of America through a (supposedly) benign cultural takeover.
‘Nuff said.
But there is a POLITICAL component to this I don’t understand at all. The American voting public is OVERWHELMINGLY alarmed by these developments. They views “The Race” as being what it is … clearly racist. The voters – of both parties – are massively in support of border security and enforcement of immigration laws.
So why the !$%!$#% are so few politicians standing up?
Is it fear of the future? That seems, at best, amazingly short-sighted. And ironically, polls suggest that even most Latinos (at least those that are legal immigrants) are ALSO in favor of a sane border and immigration policy.
So again – why aren’t more politicians just saying “enough is enough?!”
Wouldn’t Bush’s approval ratings instantly zoom to 50-55% if he announced he was building a real wall, actually enforcing immigration laws, and sending the 101st to the border? (Okay, that last one was just me … but you get the idea …)
I. Don’t. Get. It. Someone explain.
Another question: since the establishment politicians seem impotent (no, I’m not talking to you, Bob Dole) on the subject, wouldn’t now be an unprecedented opportunity for an independent (or a new party) to take center stage.
Imagine Ross Perot and his billions. Now make him a little taller and a lot saner. Got it so far? In other words, just imagine a billionaire Independent running without party restrictions.
Now imagine he runs for President in 2008, his campaign solely self-financed … and he runs on exactly two issues: 1) Continuing to seriously fight (or even ramping up) the war on terror, and 2) Seriously tackling immigration – building a wall, securing the border for REAL, enforcing immigration laws, etc.
Is there any way that candidate could lose? Wouldn’t he win in a landslide? With the exception of the usual suspects on the far left – who would NOT vote for that guy?
Hey. Can I borrow a few hundred million dollars from somebody. I’ll pay you back later.
Professor Blather on July 11, 2006 at 10:59 AM
If you made that up – you might wanna get a copyright on it really quick like. That’s pretty damn clever. Maybe work on the wording a bit, print up a few thousand bumper stickers, and you’re rolling in dough.
Which reminds me – would you like to invest in a campaign?
Professor Blather on July 11, 2006 at 11:01 AM
I think wcarr is right; I no longer consider myself white, from now on I’m considering myself Hispanic… I’m sure I’ve got at least a LITTLE Hispanic somewhere in me (I’m pretty much a mutt).
Next step is to renounce the US and all it stands for, but continue to stay here, and start reaping the benefits. You know, become a Dimocrat!
dalewalt on July 11, 2006 at 11:09 AM
Dam… both Coke and Pepsi….
and Ford and GM…
if I boycot the sponsors of this racist organization, I guess to have somthing to drink, I’ll have to walk to the bar….

Please forgive the stating of the obvious, but hasn’t anyone ever seen a chessboard? Why would Rove visit la Raza? To check against the Left, who will now stay away as la Raza has been ‘tainted’ by Rove. He IS a genius!

DO NOT FORGET SENATOR BROWNBACK!!! HE TURNED HIS BACK ON US AS WELL. HE IS SPEAKING AT THEIR CONFERENCE. HE IS COUNTING ON KANSANS BEING TOO IGNORANT TO REALLY KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING. PLEASE CONTACT HIS OFFICE AND PEOPLE THAT YOU KNOW IN KANSAS.

HAHA. You know the irony is all these companies are still big in mexico while their market share is continually slipping in the U.S. They’ll do anything to stay afloat. But what sense does it make to move your production to mexico and make an even crappier car, as if that will increase sales? I can buy a truly American Honda right here in Ohio. Built by Americans using 90% American parts. While buying a Ford is like supporting mexico and nafta. The logic befuddles me.
Theworldisnotenough on July 11, 2006 at 11:41 AM
Thank you Michelle – one of your best.
An outrageous situation AND their sponsers.
I can make a list of the hot issues with La Raza and email it to several customer relations departments to explain why I will be shifting my business to their competition.
And I will pass this on to others.

Blather said: Another question: since the establishment politicians seem impotent (no, I’m not talking to you, Bob Dole) on the subject, wouldn’t now be an unprecedented opportunity for an independent (or a new party) to take center stage.
Blather, an independent as president wouldn’t get anything accomplished – no support from either party. Not that anything is getting done now anyway…
Also, can someone tell me how to make those tags in my responses? i have computer brain fog.
pullingmyhairout on July 11, 2006 at 12:02 PM
Few politicians are standing up simply because to do so is to irritate not only the race baiters, but also the businesses and the upper income to wealthy who utilize illegal labor. Checked out who’s doing landscaping in your own neighborhood? Who’s putting on the roofs? Who’s serving the food at the restaurant? Take all of these services and tack on an extra 30% cost to them all; that’s what the illegal labor brings to our country. Along with all of the problems.
As for the cultural situation, those statements give me a chuckle. It’s been said about every wave of immigrants that have come to this country. I have a Chinese wife (legal immigrant), Indian colleagues, Ugandan friends, and we’re typing this on the web site of an Asian descendent. Bottom line is; color and culture don’t matter, but being an American (and seeing one as such) does. And it doesn’t matter what second language we speak is, but our first should be English.

I think it bears mentioning that there’s a Chicago street gang called La Raza.
JamesVersusEveryone on July 11, 2006 at 12:11 PM
One point that needs making; this is not a ‘race’ issue at all. It is a cultural issue. Not a good idea to use their terminology. Gives them some control over the debate, just like using the words “pro choice”.

LA RAZA USA: “Si” to shining “si.”
Dr. Charles G. Waugh on July 11, 2006 at 12:44 PM
It is a race issue because La Rasa (the ‘Race’) is a racist organization. As Michelle pointed out at the start of her (excellent) vent it is a RACIST organization for the Latino RACE and against other races (specifically White but probably asian, european, etc…).
Giving them federal money is the same as giving money to the KKK or the neo-Nazi’s. Going to their party is akin to going to a KKK or neo-Nazi cross burning.
Ok, get this. Every month I send money to the Philippines to help support my wife’s parents (who are retired). The Bank of America would charge me $45 each time for the transfer. Now I hear they do this to Mexico for free? WTF is that?
But I don’t use BOA for this anymore. I prefer a local credit union (Boeing Employees Credit Union) which only charges $15. I changed because BOA would always take the money out of the wrong account – once almost causing my mortgage payment to bounce. When I asked them about it I got a ‘so what’ type of response.
I guess its time to close my account entirely as well as my credit cards with them and tell them exactly why I am doing it.
CrazyFool on July 11, 2006 at 12:56 PM
Why worry about Illegal Immigration? My ancestors, the American Indians didn’t and what harm did it do them?
Still, Rove’s blessing on this group is not a surprise, considering Bush’s stupid stance on controlling our southern border.
pubscout on July 11, 2006 at 1:16 PM
Michelle, great vent. However, a couple of things (I may be wrong, but just in case)
National Council of La Raza does not refer to the Latino race – there is no such race: there are all races among Latinos. They refer to the Mexican natives race, you know Aztlan types. I believe it originally was founded as a lobby for Mexicans, and then it expanded to “include” all Latinos but its priority is still Mexicans.
The Matricula Consular is not for all illegals, only again for Mexican illegals – since it is a Mexican Government identification.
As far as Bank of America, the remittance service is free if you have a checking account with them…which again most illegals do not have a checking account and prefer to keep the money in cash.
All that being said, I am in shock at how much money NCLR gets from the government and gears it towards education, specially after the Semillas del Pueblo school. I will never understand any immigrant, illegal or not, that is that ungrateful after coming to this nation.
And Greg has it right La Racista is more appropriate.
LaVentanita on July 11, 2006 at 1:23 PM
All this reminds me of what that batty Harvard academic, Noel Ignatiev, wrote: “[W]e intend to keep bashing the dead white males, and the live ones, and the females too, until the social construct known as ‘the white race’ is destroyed–not ‘deconstructed’ but destroyed.” Is the phrase, “the social construct known as ‘the white race’,” a catchphrase meaning American traditions, institutions and culture? Have Bush, Rove, et al., embraced the idea?
Aunt B on July 11, 2006 at 1:48 PM
Yep, BoA has the pamphlets right out there for anyone to pick up. My wife brought one home a few months ago and I about spit out my drink. Something tells me the illegals have found a way to get an account, and then use the service. They find a way around all the rest of our laws. Anyway, great Vent, even if it has me grinding my teeth.

Well…the tone seems a little strained here at HotAir this afternoon. I wonder why?
Jaibones on July 11, 2006 at 3:53 PM
I’ve sat here all day, working and seething. Finally decided to send the GOP an emai saying that I hoped Rove brought back some votes from his trip to LaRaza. If you want to make your point, email: info@gop.com
and vent there

Anyone know what he said? or what time hes going to speak?
Romeo13 on July 11, 2006 at 5:09 PM
Beyond the fact that Jorge Arbursto is selling out both national security and the well-being of the average American by dispatching Rove to pander to the Latino racists, this gesture will not get the Republicans one Latino vote. Count on the activists at the conference to trash Jorge in particular and Republicans in general. Remember the numerous signs at the outrageous pro-immigration marches that labeled the illegals’ best friend as “racist” and “fascist.”
ptolemy on July 11, 2006 at 5:24 PM
Good factual vent..quite depressing except for the cartoon which is kinda gross…I cannot believe the primo sponsors they have. Those big companies must be scared to death of bad publicity. As someone mentioned above, I hope all this pandering is bringing in the bucks for the GOP because they’re not getting anything out of me.
austinnelly on July 11, 2006 at 6:52 PM
I echo the sentiments here. Very good vent. The outright flagrancy of it all should piss everybody off. We have the power to change this. The question is can we unite as Americans and do it? Future Americans are counting on US!

Back in the 1970s, La Raza fielded candidates for state wide office here in Texas. Funny though, back then it was known as “La Raza Unida” which roughly translates to “one race”. The point was if there is a hispanic candidate, then all hispanics should vote for him, because they were all of the same race.
Labamigo on July 11, 2006 at 11:26 PM
Yet white people are not allowed their own ethnic pride. If only they’d drop their anti-semitism in favor of philo-semitism in recognition of a persecuted white ethnic group, I could empathize.
