Seeing it as a cycle of retaliation only makes sense if it's in response to government-backed abuses, in which case we're back to the colossal gap between what those animals did and what the U.S. has even been <em>accused</em> of, a difference so huge it's disgusting and credibility-shattering for anyone to pretend that monstrous behaviour like that was merely inspired by us.
