Who’s missing?

cm.jpg

“She never declined,” said Sarah Douglas, executive director of the Atlanta Press Club, which sponsored the debate. “She never responded either way.”

Blowback

Where’s Slappy?

pistolero on July 11, 2006 at 4:26 PM

The missing woman is who they will re elect.

NRA4Freedom on July 11, 2006 at 4:29 PM

Oh oh oh…I know this one. Responsibility for one’s own actions?

StoutRepublican on July 11, 2006 at 4:33 PM

Have been following this for a week..this is the SECOND debate “she” missed! As I live here and know, I wont participate and let others have the fun!

labwrs on July 11, 2006 at 4:34 PM

BTW, she has a history of ducking debates and STILL gets elected *sigh*

labwrs on July 11, 2006 at 4:35 PM

Here excuse for missing both debates was she was meeting with her constituents in some kind of town hall meeting. Of course none of the reporters around here can seem to find anything about those meetings. Oh yeah and her press secretary or whatever says they were scheduled first.
But she will still get reelected. That is if enough of her constituents live long enough to vote. She represents Dekalb County which averages 1 or 2 murders a night. The first 5 minutes of the news is normally filled with the who killed who in Dekalb county. I could go on and on about the racism exhibited by the African American community over there but that is for another day because afterall we all know blacks can’t be racist.

LakeRuins on July 11, 2006 at 4:39 PM

I really wonder if her constituents really appreciate how her actions reflect back upon them in the eyes of their fellow Americans? How can one sympathize with folks who purposely bring this kind of derision upon themselves?

Chief1942 on July 11, 2006 at 4:40 PM

maybe Ted Turner and his war loving wife? hehehe

Someone should just bitchslap the missing bitch.

Boycott Georgia, at least Atlanta, if she gets voted in,again.

Maybe she’s locked up? We could start a rumor. Possibly she’s just drunk…I think I saw here clubbin’ it with Patches. Get the kids off the streets.

shooter on July 11, 2006 at 4:43 PM

Do not count out Hank Johnson! He is going to run tough against her and he is very highly regarded. He has served on teh DeKalb Commission for years and has helped everyone who needed him in his areas and at large. I know because he worked with our group on some local issues even when it would have been easier and more expedient for him to duck the issue. We had a neighborhood of mostly white homeowners fighting a black homeowner violating zoning laws by operating a very visible, noisy business out of her home. He sided with us and lobbied the rest of the board to help us save our neighborhood. He is a good man and has a lot of support at grassroots. “Hairdo” could be history..again.

labwrs on July 11, 2006 at 4:45 PM

shooter..we who live in Atlanta CAN NOT vote for her. She is DeKalb County.

labwrs on July 11, 2006 at 4:46 PM

AP, your sites broke…adding an “E” to words. Happened to LakeRuins on July 11, and my post. Cant be us ya kno.

shooter on July 11, 2006 at 4:47 PM

OK , where is it, what town/cities are in the county? Is there even a reason to go there, to DeKalb County? Offering anything more than fight night? Does MARTA go thru there?
I’ll google-earth the place.
Sorry Atlanta.

shooter on July 11, 2006 at 4:50 PM

shooter: Actually quite a lot of it is very liveable and calm. Many upscale areas and lots and lots of “buppies” (black uppermiddle class). A small part of it is crimeridden but the police are actually a LOT better than Atlanta’s. MARTA does go there and when I lived there (before moving in-town) I used it a lot to go down to Hawks and Thrashers games. Cynthia had a lot of name recognition from her crazy father and there is a BIG LIB base in the main city, Decatur. Nutroots types who vote liberal Democrat no matter WHO is running. But with HJ in the race, she might be gone.

labwrs on July 11, 2006 at 4:56 PM

Alex, Ill take “Crazy Rat Haired Politicians” for $200, please.

Answer: A good left hook, left her crying for “justice”

Q: What is the empty podium next to us?

dallas94 on July 11, 2006 at 5:01 PM

Oh! Oh! Oh, I know! Common Sense is missing! What did I win?

BirdEye on July 11, 2006 at 5:09 PM

It wasn’t “black” enough for her…

BirdEye on July 11, 2006 at 5:10 PM

I would have loved it if they had put a life-size cardboard cut-out of her at the podium instead of leaving it empty.

.

GT on July 11, 2006 at 5:11 PM

Would that cardboard cut-out have the old, or the new and improved hair style?

BirdEye on July 11, 2006 at 5:15 PM

Actually, Dunwoody is in DeKalb, is it not? That part of town is NICE. And there is Marta access.

Kid from Brooklyn on July 11, 2006 at 5:22 PM

If you will allow me to paraphrase Peter from the docu-comedy Office Space, I wouldn’t say anyone was actually missing Rep. McKinney.

thirteen28 on July 11, 2006 at 5:45 PM

Kid: Dunwoody IS in DeKalb but not part of Sinthia’s area anymore since redistricting…and are THEY happy about it! It is a lovely area but then again Atlanta is a drop dead gorgeous city/metro area! (yes, I am a little prejudiced)

labwrs on July 11, 2006 at 5:59 PM

CONGRESSIONAL QUARTERLY reports: DeKalb County Commissioner Hank Johnson and architectural firm project manager John Coyne, who are challenging McKinney, debated Saturday on WSB-TV and also participated in a second debate Friday that was sponsored by the Atlanta Press Club and which will air tonight at 7 p.m. Johnson’s campaign said that McKinney’s absence was a “slap in the face” to her constituents.

Heh heh

Alex K on July 11, 2006 at 6:38 PM

Dat Ho be gettin’ da ‘Do done.

doingwhatican on July 11, 2006 at 6:53 PM

Would that cardboard cut-out have the old, or the new and improved hair style?

Definately the new one. Its a more “truthful” look.

GT on July 11, 2006 at 7:05 PM

she was meeting with her constituents in some kind of town hall meeting

Smoking crack and cheering to headchopper vids.

speed647 on July 11, 2006 at 9:10 PM

If I might damper the sarcasm for a moment, I don’t think she’d be missing these debates because of the Capitol incident. That’s old news. She may have something more embarrasing that she doesn’t want to respond to.
Okay, back to the hilarity!

Doug on July 12, 2006 at 12:37 PM

Maybe the slap was a ploy to make her constituents think she was on their side.

She is probably boycotting the debates because of the no-slap rule.

They ought to just hand out clubs and let them duke it out. McKinney would have a good chance of winning that debate.

entagor on July 12, 2006 at 10:36 PM

labwrs: Out of curiosity, which neighborhood? (No worries if you’re not comfortable divulging :-)

RD on July 12, 2006 at 10:58 PM

[shooter] OK , where is it, what town/cities are in the county?

Decatur, Dunwoody, Chamblee, Doraville, Tucker, Lithonia – they’re more neighborhoods than ‘cities’ – and McKinney’s district is only part of this area TTBOMK.

Is there even a reason to go there, to DeKalb County? . . . I’ll google-earth the place.

Yes, if you’re a terrorist. While Googling, if you’re game, look up the Peachtree-Dekalb Airport and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Both packed full of “cringe factor”. OTOH if you’re a tourist, Stone Mountain Park is a more suitable choice…

Does MARTA go thru there?

McKinney’s district is all about MARTA. It’s smarta!
