Doug, what I meant was that 37% of American respondents feel a growing Islamic identity is good and that 33% feel Muslims in America want to adopt our customs. In the former case that 37% is either ignorant to what a growing Islamic identity can do, or they support Islam. Just look at all the “good” happening in England and Denmark that is associated with their own growing Islamic identity. In the latter case I’m sure there are Muslims who desire to adapt to our customs, but I believe them to be a minority percentage.

The questions in this poll are bogus and are designed more to influence public opinion than reflect it. According to the question “What do you consider yourself first?” in the U.S. 42% consider themselves Christians first (and supposedly Americans second). Obviously, what the poll wants you to think is that Christians are no different than Muslims when they claim allegiance to religion first. Therefore, it is OK when Muslims claim allegiance to their religion before the U.S because Christians do the same thing.

It is not OK. Allegiance to Christianity IS compatible with American values. (”One nation under God” was placed into the Allegiance by the Catholic Knights of Columbus to make this point of being Christians and Americans IF America reflects Christian values.) This is possible because Western values are a mixture of Roman, Germanic, and Christian culture.

Muslim values–as evidenced in Sharia law and the doctrines in the Koran–ARE NOT compatible with American values.

I’d like to see a poll question, “Should citizens in your country have the right to criticize your religion?”

If you dig deeper into the data, you’ll find that only 23% of Muslims in Great Britain favor the U.S.; only 13% of muslims favor the War on Terror; and 71% of muslims favor Iran.

to me, that’s the scariest because Great Britain is our staunchest ally. i would assume that muslims there would be the most moderate. evidently, they are not.

Bellicose…with the MSM being the mouthpeace of Islam in the US, I would expect a large percent of our people to see Islamic identity as good. This is what you get when you combine the anti-American revisionist history taught in most of our public schools with citizens are spoon fed anti-American/pro-Islamic news from such tratorious sources as the New York Times, CNN, and AP.

Keep getting the word out about the REAL media, such as Hot Air, FOX News, other sites for “webtruth”, and our conservative talk show hosts who melodiously fill the airwaves with truth on a daily basis!

Great, what’s new? Islam is just plain incompatible with anyone or anything that isn’t muslim. We can still have trade and travel and all that stuff, blah, blah, blah but muslims need to live by themselves.

Oh ….. and they need to quit killing people. Especially Jews and Christians. That would help too.

I find it curious that they had seperate answers, general population and muslim only, for the question about adopting national customs in Europe, but not for the US. I am frankly more curious about how our native Islamic population feels than I am about Europes.

Interesting questions. According to these numbers, Muslims in polled countries want strongly to adopt national customs…and also see the growing Islamic identity as a good thing. 20 years from now will our image of a Frenchman show a man in a beret or one of those head scarf things? Will our image of India be an Indian woman with a dot on her forehead or one wearing a habib?
