Yesterday he was buying coffee for reporters, today…

If there isn’t a thread up yet at DU accusing him of trying to “distract” us with birthday shenanigans, there will be.

Blowback

There are noble patriots on hunger strike all over the world and he’s talking about his birthday.

I question the timing. Of their births.

“You say it’s your birthday It’s my birthday too…”

NRA4Freedom on July 6, 2006 at 2:01 PM

Way too cool.

When 60 I turn, look as good not.

I thought it was a warm and human thing
to do.
He could’ve acted “imperial” as
the left accuses, but this shows that he is just
a person like the rest of us, albeit, with tons
of power, but human nonetheless.

Check out the drawing/painting of him on http://www.lucianne.com/

If only!

I have said before and will continue to say that President Bush is a kind, personable kind of guy. He may not be the best speaker we’ve ever had in the White House, he may not be the most loved president ever, but I think he is a good guy overall who is just trying to do the best he can. The human moments like these are the ones I think really reveal the true man. I remember the picture of him during the last presidential campaign when he met a daughter of a 9/11 victims, and with no press or news crews around, he embraced this girl and hugged her. Her father snapped a picture and it was such a heartwarming moment. I can’t justify claims that he is just as bad as Hitler, or is an evil, villainous dictator, or a completely simple-minded dolt who masterminded the takeover of the world against images like those.

ahhhh..now I think this is sweet! It is refreshing and a good break from the normal tensions of the day.

labwrs on July 6, 2006 at 3:28 PM

that was hilarious
hey my birthday is July 12, any chance I can get up there with the president? :-p

Defector01 on July 6, 2006 at 3:57 PM

funny! i see a good saturday night live skit in the making…

Glad to see the prez still has some humor in him.

pullingmyhairout on July 6, 2006 at 5:27 PM

I have to agree with DakRoland. The president is a good man. I don’t always agree with some of his political policies, he isn’t the best public speaker, but he is a good man who seems to enjoy people and has a genuine love of this country and the constitution.

rahjr2k on July 6, 2006 at 5:59 PM

I hope I look as good as he does when I get to be 60. The president may not be the most polished man in the world, and he isn’t smoove like Bill C. But he’s a good decent man, and I like him very much even when I disagree with him.
And he goes GET the war on terror.

I just can’t see Ike, Roosevelt,Truman, Grant or Washington acting like this,,,,it was a nice school principal
act. And that is what we have, a school principal with Condi as the school marm!
