Liebermania! Joementum meets Freshmaker tonight in debate
posted at 9:36 am on July 6, 2006 by Allahpundit
MSNBC, 7 p.m. ET. If lefty blogs aren’t Laphamizing this one, they might as well. It’s Colbert redux: no matter what gets said or how flat Lamont falls, the mere act of speaking nutroots “truth” to power’s face makes him a defiant genius worthy of his own Thank You page on Blogspot. The first time he mentions Iraq, it’ll be like the Beatles kicking into I Want to Hold Your Hand. Will Jane Hamsher shriek — or faint dead away?
We’ll have a few minutes of video highlights afterwards. Crooks & Liars might post the whole debate, pursuant to the Crooks & Liars Copyright Infringement Exemption Act of 2004.
The L.A. Times(!) tries to reason with the nutroots. Populist hero Ned Lamont is, by his campaign manager’s estimation, worth between $90 and $300 million. And Biden, Salazar, and — et tu? — Barbara Boxer say they’ll campaign for Liebs before the primary. Friendship, support for Liebs’s policies, and/or secret fear and loathing for the nutroots’s influence? You make the call!

The lines are being drawn…the older dems are evolving to survive…Kerry, Hillary, are betting on Lamont and the hardcore “progressive” evolution while Boxer, Biden feel the conservative change in the air and know they should moderate, not escalate the loud and wacky far left to compete with conservatives.

“The conservative change in the air”?

And thus, the beginning of the end of the Democratic Party. Congratulations are in order; to Howard Dean, the lefty 527s as bankrolled by Soros, the government-media complex, and the nutroots.

I hereby call on all people everywhere, regardless of political or ideological persuasion, to support Lamont 100% in both the primary and general election.
I’m personally moving to Connecticut and registering as a Democrat just to do my part.
In the near future, I hope to see Lamont run for – and win – the Presidency.
Why?
Because he’s really, really funny. The entertainment factor of watching the Koolest of the Kos Kiddies actually serving as a Senator is almost inestimable; Lamont is like a walking joke that just keeps getting funnier. I want years of Kos Kommercials and patented nipple twisting.
And, of course, there’s even a tasty side benefit: when marching moonbats like Lamont actually serve in office, the whole world sees what liberals actually think and act like. Nothing on Earth (except Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan) would be more effective in electing Republicans than having Lamont become a sitting Senator and serious Presidential candidate.
But my own interests are much more selfish – I just like laughing at him and his Mentos Munching Mob of followers.
Vote Lamont!

C’mon AP, overall, when talking to “youths” there is a drift back on over to the right. The pendulum swings, and a plethora of NYT articles can’t stop the march. The immigration debate, Corzine’s scary “give me taxes or no fun for you” fiasco, and the NK fears will only make Americans more against the left’s tax-and-run-from-conflict-and-become-a-socialist-haven-for-the-world political platform.
Hillary can’t just abandon Lieberman completely though, let him eat cake.

[wild applause]
Thank you, thank you. No, please, stop. No, really I couldn’t. Thank you…

I’m just wondering if the Kos man himself is going to be behind the podium pulling the string…
Moderator: “Mr Lamont, what is your view on the economy.”
Lamont: “Well, Bush lied, and kids died, and I know this one person who has an unemployed son…and if it wasn’t for Halliburton, oil…Enron…….stolen election…facists…….imperialism……”

Freshmaker rides Netroots to victory.

Conservative democrat? Isn’t that some kind of oxymoron? No way the dems are going to change their stripes as long as they rely on dkos, Soros, Heinz and other nutcases for their financing.

Trying Hard, But Still Unable to Care
Via AllahPundit (pixels be unto him) at HotAir, I see that MSNBC is televising a one-time-only debate between Joe Lieberman and Ned Lamont.
Try as I might, I can’t bring myself to care enough to watch it. The whole Lamont vs. Lieberman primary story will simply boil down to whether Senator Joe Lieberman returns to Congress calling himself a Democrat or an Independent Democrat.
The debate doesn’t matter, because Lamont can’t beat Joementum in a general election, and everyone—well, everyone who is not “reality-based”—knows that. Much more intriguing are the side issues:
Will Jane Hamsher have an aneurysm before the primary, or will she wait until after Lieberman’s reelection? Will Kos consider Lamont’s loss as going 0-20-1, or more like 0-19-2?If Lieberman trounces Lamont by double-digits in the general election (and I seriously hope it does go to the general election, just to up the ante), will the DNC llok at the next roots, slap them selves in the head, and ask “What was I thinking?” before deciding to ignore them in ’08?
Such are the questions that cross my mind when thinking about this election.
Maybe the Fairly Odd Parents will be on instead.

AP,
I think NTWR is right and the
is real on the hapless left side of the aisle. Thank God for the DemoRats, they are the only thing we have going for us.
But, with Joe set to slap down the Kos Nutroots, and with Obama and Hillary lecturing the left about needing to acknowledge the religious sensibilities of Americans…I think some Dems are realizing that they misplayed their hand yet again. And the NY Times PR disasters are not helping.
Treason doesn’t sell as well as it did in the 60s…

Ned Lamont speaks for me.
Alex K on July 6, 2006 at 1:29 PM
The big difference between Lieberman and Mark Warner is that the latter paid a big “consulting fee” to Kos’s buddy, Unknown Jerome. Lieberman could have spared himself his current primary aggravation had he paid the same protection money to Unknown Jerome.

Ralph Peters in the NY Post today was discussing the situation in Mexico, but made an excellent point about the overinflated expectations of the Nutroots psychopaths
I recall after the Dem convention in CT that Lieberman was ahead something like 57-32, but haven’t seen any recent numbers, which makes me think that’s about where Mentos Man will be topping out at. I know the Koslamists will consider that a victory, but it will just give us something else to laugh at them about.
JammieWearingFool on July 6, 2006 at 2:03 PM
Alex K–are you registered to vote in Connecticut?
JammieWearingFool on July 6, 2006 at 2:05 PM
Ned Lamont speaks for me, too. Whenever I need a good look-at-Kos-tweaking-his-nipples gut busting laugh, Lamont speaks to me.
Vote Lamont – cuz he’s way, way funnier than Lieberman. Plus, free Mentos for life to the first 100 voters.

Jammie–I wish I were, so that I could be a part of history.

Alex K,
You will be a part of history, just not the one you wish for.

I just finished watching the NBC 30 feed on C Span, they said the speech would be up on the NBC 30 website later tonight. I thought Joe kicked his ass hard, but I am a little biased. Lamont doesn’t do TV well, he has a wild eyed look, seems a little unhinged, lol.
