Biggest buzz of the day in the blogosphere: Amanda Congdon, the left-leaning hostess of highly hyped vlog Rocketboom, has left the show.
According to her Rocketboom partner Andrew Baron, she’s moving to L.A. and pursuing a Hollywood career.
Congdon has a slightly different story.
Anyway, the search is on for a new Rocketboom host.
Hot female host with a good sense of humor based in NYC? I nominate Pamela.
Not that the libs will listen.

Robert Scoble has a list of potential replacements.
He mentions one right-thinking babe–Bethany at RealVerse, whom Bryan has spotlighted here and here.
Good choice!

I thought this was going to be about North Korea…

I thought you weren’t supposed to go on if you didn’t have a congdon.

Rocketwhom?

Perhaps I had it right with a post on the same topic here earlier:
North Korea, as with Iran, is controlled by those who have little regard for the welfare of the population. In North Korea the people exist as a resource for the aspirations of Kim Jong-Il and nothing more. Annihilation of the people of North Korea is not the answer.
The UN sanctions are a necessary prerequisite for further action. Military action is a continuation of diplomacy to reach political decisions.
North Korea is still to some degree China’s proxy. Although things have changed China is still the key to North Korea. Military action in North Korea may bring a sad story to an end but the price would probably, almost certainly, be horrific.
These missile tests are yet another tactic of brinksmanship than Kim Jong-Il loves to play. Whether it is a punk craving attention or tactics to gain some political advantage (perhaps both), the results still come down to more of what has happened in the past.
I believe that the United States government is playing this game as best as it can be played.
A news article that may provide support for this argument:

So she’s North Korean?

Kirsten. Powers.

I’ve yet to see evidence of humor in your nominee, Allah.

A man can dream, can’t he?
Take everything else, cruel world, but leave me my fantasies.

Am I the only one here that doesn’t know what is Rocketboom? It really isn’t what the North Koreans said is it, you know ‘Rocket go boom?’
docdave on July 5, 2006 at 10:40 PM
I never heard of it either docdave. I watched one, and it was a girl, kinda cute, trying to do the “rolling of the eyes” or the “look of being stunned by what a pundit said” like John Stewart does (he spells his name wrong, not me), and failing. She’ll probably come into her own soon, but she hasn’t yet.
Kevin M on July 6, 2006 at 12:33 AM
Rocket Whom? Never heard of it.
DannoJyd on July 6, 2006 at 12:38 AM
Heh. I thought it was just ME saying “Rocketwhat?” I’d never heard of it either, and it started to make me wonder how I’d missed it. Apparently a lot of others have too.
So who was hyping it?
bamapachyderm on July 6, 2006 at 1:08 AM
Kevin… say what you want about Congdon’s lefty politics, but saying that she is only “kinda cute” is just crazy talk.
And, by the way, Jon is short for Jonathan… his name isn’t John. The guy may be a left-wing hack whose sole purpose in life is trying to pass off intellectual dishonesty as satire, but at least give Stewart enough credit to admit that he can spell his own name right.

Allah’s suggested ‘hot female host’ from NY, and of late humorless (she is smart and sees what’s coming in Nov.)

Ever since the Zarqawi killing, and the following events, she has been out of sorts…a good indicator for how the liberals feel these days. She also has a hard time handling Ann Coulter when they’re on TV together.

When is Bethany’s realverse going to be added to the HOTLINKS Video blogs/podcasts?
Like Michelle, she’s pleasing to the eyes.
rightside on July 6, 2006 at 3:11 AM
I’m afraid I can’t do that Watcher:) John is short for Jonathan.
And I said Ms. Congdon was kinda cute, because that’s what she is to me. I downgraded her from cute when she started talking (It was not lefty stuff, just annoying). If you think she is ‘extremely cute’, I would not argue it with you. Eye of the beholder and all.

Are you kidding! I saw better on the train on the way to work this AM.
Now if you want professional newscasters, we’re getting get Saint Katie while the French already have: Melissa Theuriau!!! PS. If you can’t speak french IT WILL NOT MATTER!

Yow! Ms. Theuriau may have just bumped Kiran Chetry out of the top slot in the “Easiest on the eyes” category.
Kevin M on July 6, 2006 at 9:03 AM
Sometimes people try to use John as a shortened form of Jonathan, mainly because they are unaware that John and Jonathan are distinct names with completely different etymologies… but it is far more common to see the nickname Jon.
Watcher on July 6, 2006 at 9:38 AM
Sorry Kevin, but when Kiran had that baby, in my book at least, she jumped the shark!
Now MISS Theuriau, on the other hand, is single and I’ve seen her while sailing the P.S. SelfCentered along the French Riviera.
However, since I wouldn’t want to offend the BlogMeister, you’ll have to “surf” for that link yourself!
