Hard feelings: Rush cleared in Viagra case

posted at 3:08 pm on July 5, 2006 by Allahpundit

It was prescribed. The doctor told the prosecutor he wrote the prescription in his own name in order to, errr, avoid negative publicity for Rush. Matt Drudge said on his radio show the other day that the sheriff’s office supposedly leaked the story to the press within one hour of the bottle being found.

I should probably show some indignation here towards the faux-privacy heroes on the left, but the truth is, the next time Teddy gets caught walking around with his pants down or Patches is spotted stumbling through the halls of Congress in an Ambien-fueled haze, I want to know about it right away.

Update: Our affiliate, Expose the Left, has audio of Rush from this afternoon. He’s suspicious, as well he should be.

Well, what do you expect?? Privacy rights and other rights, such as in “Bill of Rights” are only for libs and lefties. We only get those rights granted to us on a case by case basis, if at all.

I work in law enforcement and the normal protocol for distributing info to the media is that…
1. It’s approved by a higher-up who is designated to do so (usually the agency’s head, though in large departments it may be someone a tier below)
2. It is either distributed by a designated spokesperson or written by same. In the absence of a spokesperson #1, above, writes the release (or his/her secretary)

Thus, someone very high up or the Sheriff himself chose to reveal the info on Rush. It’s obviously spiteful. I don’t even listen to Rush and feel he’s too much a GOP shill, but he got taken advantage of here.

This must be really hard on the left, who were a bit premature on their celebration last week.

If I’m Limbaugh, I pack up and either relocate to another county or leave Florida altogether. Who needs this nonsense from out of control BDS sufferers?

Ya know? I’ve been through customs many many times, and never had my pill bottles even read..

Second… why were the Sheriff’s involved? Never had a beef in an airport, but I thought that custom’s was run by the FEDS, not local or county cops…

It was a setup to kick Rush. Who is going to mess with someone over Viagra? Those guys pick their battles better than that.

Shmo on July 5, 2006 at 4:21 PM

They *should* pick their battles better than that. Thankfully they don’t. Can you imagine what a he11hole this country would be if the enemy was actually intelligent??

As I said last week, this was a clear case of premature adjudication. The drive-by media, which clearly shot its wad on a limp case has now been left hanging, and stuck with messy cleanup. Such is their hard luck. They shouldn’t have been so cocky in the first place. Perhaps the Palm Beach DA would better serve his constituency by focusing on hard crime, instead of the DNC’s vendetta.

I’d still like to see Rush and Bob Dole in a viagra commercial together

RH, you wise owl :) here especially, and in general too.

They knew they had no case. It was all about telling the world that good ol’ Rush needs Viagra.

Remember, they are the compassionate ones!

I wonder if it’ll work on my wife?? or do I just need to buy more flowers??

“Hard Feelings” and “Viagra” in the same headline? Hmmmmm…. I’ll limp out of here with no more comment.

pjcomix on July 5, 2006 at 6:25 PM

A limp case, I’d say. Rush is still the firm voice of the hard right. Bone up, Rush!

You watch, this kind of thing will happen again to El Rushbo. It will not stop till they find something the public will accept as criminal. They will do it to get the meme out that he is a pill popping junkie and a sex fiend, so therefore he will be marginalized and mad irrelevant. But it will not happen. Someone will really screw up bad trying to get him, and it will not be pretty when Rush finally hits back.
