Breaking: West sets July 12th as Iran nuke-freeze deadline

posted at 10:48 am on July 3, 2006 by Allahpundit

Just across on Fox. The deadline was originally July 5th; Iran said yesterday they wouldn’t respond before July 23. Supposedly, if they don’t freeze their enrichment activities by next Wednesday, sanctions will be imposed. Whether Russia or China is on board with this is unclear. Stand by for details.

Update: The AP:

The diplomats … said that Russia and China were closer than ever before to supporting the West in seeking to pressure Iran by the threat of U.N. Security Council action, including sanctions, if Tehran refused a six-power package of incentives meant to wean it off enrichment.

EU/Iran summit starts on Wednesday. Will the Europeans cave?

Blowback

This is the most encouraging news on the Iranian Nuclear Threat we could hear

The danger was appeasement and it appears that not only the United States but the EU and perhaps others (Russia and China) are not going for it. appeasement gives time for Iran to develop nuclear weapons that they would use as a weapon of indimidation at first and then use first on Israel.

1939 Chamberlain “Peace in our time” is not the mantra with the G8 with this news.

This is the U.N., define “deadline”….

We might need to go ‘Israel’ on them. Kinda like postal, but towards an evil empire.

Will be all talk, no action. The chances of Russia and China helping are almost non-existant… too much economic impact on them to help with this problem.

Add in the current problem in Israel, and Iran will take a tough man stance in all this…

I predict that within a day or two, Iran will reject this deadline.

The dead line has been set how many times now? Each time Iran’s nutjob in charge makes some sort of statement that almost appears sane and the rest of the world pats the little scamp on the head like some sort of puppydog and pressures anybody wanting to stand up to him to back down. Once that is done, with not even a slowdown in their nuclear work, and then he comes back out and starts bitchslapping the weaklings in the west. It is time to stop this vicious cycle.

That’s only the deadline until they move it to August 6th!

Yep, Iran rejected the dealine, and even moved the meeting to tomorow to show their “Strength”…

They need to be slapped down, they are feeling awfully invulnerable…
